I would never wear jeans to church. One reason is because my parents don't like it, and neither does my church, and since I'm on the worship team, the dress code applies. (my church doesn't have a problem with visitors wearing jeans, and even some regular members wear jeans sometimes, just NOT up front! Also, I want to honour God in His house, so I dress up nicely. On Wednesday nights I will sometimes wear a jean skirt though, as long as I'm not playing or singing.

I'm with rae on this one. I don't wear jeans to church unless my church pants are in the wash, or if I'm at a casual thing like youth group. It's not that I believe wearing jeans to church is wrong, but that's just the way we do it in my church. If I was inviting one of my non-christian friends to church, and they said that didn't have anything to wear, I'd tell them to just wear jeans and a T-shirt. Even though the official dress code doesn't include jeans, in that case it would be better for them to come out than to be at home playing video games or something. And like rae_of_light said, I want to honour God.

Not wearing jeans to church is my Christian preference, not my Christian conviction.

In the past year, I have hardly owned jeans at all, let alone worn them, but now that I am in college, I am starting to relax a little, although, right now, I am dressed casual for no particular reason....lol

Hmm...I think that a lot of this has to do with culture. In my church, if I showed up wearing jeans on Sunday morning, I know that a lot of people would be wondering what the heck I was thinking. However, I wear jeans all the time on Sunday and Wednesday night, as do many others. Is Sunday morning more 'holy' than other times? Of course not. Are jeans any less 'holy' than a dress or skirt? No. (so long as they aren't immodest.) So we see that a lot of it has to do with what's accepted. At many churches, it's completely acceptable to wear jeans.

But here's my opinion on the matter. There has to be a reason why dressing up for Sunday morning church became a tradition in the first place. We dress up because we want to give God our best. Does that mean that if you wear jeans to church, you're rebelling, or you don't give God your best? No...in fact, you could have a jeans-wearing churchgoer who is ten times more concerned with living a life that pleases God than a dress (or tie) - wearing churchgoer. So really, the issue is your attitude..as long as it's right, it doesn't matter what you wear...but it's just my personal opinion that dressing up is a good way to show your love and respect for the time you have set aside to come to church and worship. Think of it this way...(esp. for girls) if you're dating someone, you're not always going to dress up to go on dates, right? You'll wear your jeans and t-shirt often, because hopefully, your special someone is more concerned with who you are than what you wear. But from time to time, you might go on a 'special' date, where you go somewhere nice, and it's just a more formal affair...valentine's day, prom, whatever. You want to dress up and look nice for your date, right? Well, it's not a fool-proof analogy, but I reckon it's kind of an illustration of why I like to dress up a bit on Sunday AM. But it's true that really, it's your heart that matters!

That's a good philosophy. I totally agree.

I'm not a teen but I'll reply anyway. I wear jeans almost always to church. On a rare, rare occasion I'll wear a skirt but my sunday best is totally jeans. And tank tops. And sandals.

i wear jeans to church all the time. my parents make my brothers wear dressier clothes because they play in the band at church, but they never really pick on me about my clothes anymore. i think they're just glad i've been making the effort to go to church at all.
