can you just stop being so mean for once??

While remaining silent might have been the preferred route to take, Musician Dad was being honest, imho.
You asked for "HONEST FEEDBACK" and several people, myself included, offered honest feedback and constructive criticism that you proceeded to disagree with, dismiss and then argue with.

I pray that you'll let God search your heart in this matter and allow correction and maturity take it's course.

Really, I think it's kind of mean and dishonest to ask people for something and then snap at them when they give it to you. I think it's misleading to blame others for getting this thread "sidetracked". Yes, most people will just look the other way when a young person is acting up, but that's just not my style, I guess. Every once in a while some old timer has to go "you boys look like clowns with your pants hanging down there like that, and you girls should turn off your cell phones, during church at least". But hey, that's just me.

Singergirl,

Do you have any skilled musicians you can hang around and play/sing with?

Yeah, I know...GET OFF MY LAWN!!!

Ok, NOW we're off topic...yet I digress...singergirl, you have a nice voice, so if that's all you wanted to hear then I think that everyone has encouraged you in that regard.
As far as everything else, I'm sure that time and life experiences will help mature you into being able to receive constructive criticism properly and in the manner in which it's offered: to build you up for your own benefit and not tear you down.

LOL! Nice turnaround. This thread has been full of spot on advise (IMO), but that was delivered exceptionally well.

Wow. As Randy often says, you had some pitch problems there. You are a way better singer than a guitar player, though.

I should have said - nothing new on my end. Same comments as before.

As I think I said before, I think that you're off to a great start. You've obviously got a natural gift of musical ability, so I encourage you to keep working at it. Also, in the future you'll probably start finding your own voice and style, aside from Michelle Branch or whoever you're inspired by right now, and it'll be interesting to hear what you sound like in a couple of years as your abilities improve and mature.
Also also, stay aware of good solid tempo and timing, especially with your strumming. I've seen and heard a lot of seemingly talented musicians and singers who could hit the right notes, but not be able to keep a rock-solid beat. Consistent practice with a metronome, drum machine or a steady back track is a must to maintain a steady internal clock.

Happy Thanksgiving.

Thanks but NO thanks. like i said going at it alone is the best way to go!! and if i do reach my goal i'll feel a whole lot better about my self.

yall people are just too ignorate to see that true music lies inside a person. no coach, trainer or teacher, can help you find that.

God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble...

I'd be listening to those who are musicians here if I were you. The completely self-taught self-made artistic success is an ANOMALY not the rule.

i know, and i've done a lot of thinking and growing up in the past couple of months. I'm so sorry everyone. Yall were all right, and I was wrong! I'm going to let God lead my path, and if that involves music then thats what I'll do, but if it doesn't i'm ok with that. He has a plan for my life, and i'm going to let him take over! :)

THAT is awesome.
If you continue to develop your singing and playing and pursue the path that He has set before you, there's no telling what you could do, but I guarantee that it'll be great.

I listened to You Original, and you know what? I bet that if you introduced that to your home congregation as a song that you wrote, it would be very well recieved. Sounds like a lot of the contemporary Christian stuff many churches use for worship thesedays. It would be cool if the song had a strong hook. Horrible recording (I feel your pain there), but otherwise not a bad song.

Singergirl,

I read the 1st page, and then skipped to the last page.

I was going to suggest you learn to play the guitar, so you can accompany yourself, but when I skipped here I saw that you already have. Good! That was a good move. Stick with it...you wont regret it. And it will help you if you if you try to make a career in music if you can play, and play well, as well as sing well.

I have only seen your 1st video. You have a beautiful voice, but I'm wondering...how much are you showing?

What I mean is, I got the impression you were sort of on "cruise control". You didnt seem to be pushing yourself much. Have you got more than that? Meaning...can you really belt it out when you want to?

Mike

It means I know a thing or two about recording music and can offer some insight into how to get started.
