I appreciate the kind words, guys.
We've been busy with some changes at the station (not format, just technical) and it's taken a lot of time...but I plan to jump back on here whenever I can.
Byron, I still enjoy reading your blog, by the way! It's one of the best.

Does anyone know what has happened to the New Flordia Boys? I called the Showplace Theater and was told it was closed for the remainder of the year. Wondering what happened to the guys

I didn't see the show personally, but everyone I talked to who actually saw it thought they were horrible. The most common comment was that they didn't sing. The played the CD and lip-synced it. I haven't heard anyone hacve anything good to say about the show.
I hate to see this happen.

No wonder they were giving so many free passes at the World Premier.
Thought we would go next week as we had the passes. When I called the 888 number they told me it was closed.

I have not seen the Florida Boys at the theater, but I have seen them in concert. I thought they did a fine job, and I'm very sorry that their theater gig didn't work out for them.

My point exactly. Lack of firsthand experierence.
Careless comments like that can do nothing to help the career of any group trying to make it in the world of gospel music.

This statement implies Frog was making a judgment statement about the group herself. She was simply relaying what apparently more than one person had told her. This is no different than me saying My friend in Charleston said it was raining. I have no first hand knowledge of the weather in Charleston but I can relay what that friend told me. It would not have been as bad had you not added the sentence about your disappointment in Frog. Which BTW I am quite sure she is not really concerned with your disappointment. But it may just be that you owe her an apology.

Most all of us at some point are anxious to pass along some sort of bad news or even "dirt". I'm not necessarily making any accusations towards Frog in that manner, but to compare her relaying a horrible review of a concert to telling about the weather in Charleston is simply absurd. These message boards do more to tear down groups than to build up and I have to say that I'm personally sick of seeing constant "critique" of not only the Florida Boys, but a lot of other groups that do not deserve such disrespect.
Frog, the information you have passed on this board is not first-hand information nor a review from a publication. Therefore, your post is not really credible information.

I read the post by Frog, and didn't see any animosity or intent to harm at all. She was just relaying information from someone who did actually have first hand knowledge.
Let me ask you this: if she had said the person who saw the show said it was great, the best they had ever seen, and she relayed that information...would that suit you?
Accusing someone of saying something they didn't say, or accusing them of bad intent is, in my opinion, decidedly rude.

Good post Mike and also from Qtman. Frog has never had a bad intent toward anyone in her life. Just relaying info from what someone had told her and about 100% of the time the info Frog receives is usually 100% right on.

I agree with Mike..............
.
The flyers that the Florida Boys was putting out billed the show as a Gospel Quartet VARIETY Show. I understook the show included a variety of different types of music and not just Southern Gospel Music. The flyer and I quote, "The Great Smoky Mountain's first night-time Gospel Quartet Variety show featuring great four part harmony of classic gospel, western, country and pop songs with added humor and classic viceo clips interspersed with live entertainment on stage."
If anyone on the forums has seen the show please let them come forward and give their opinion about the show. We had planned to see the show next week but when I called for reservations was told that the theater was closed and may open later this year or sometime next year.

With the show not lasting very long has to tell you soemthing BUT if the theater is still owned by the same people that owned it several years ago, that may be why they are no longer there.
One of the owners from years past was overheard saying "There is too much Jesus in here".

Thank you to all who have defended me.
If I had heard from a couple of fans I would not have reported that. But the people who gave me that information were all people who are in the business, and know what they are talking about. Several singers went to see the show during the week of World Premiere and Gatlinburg Gathering. They did not say these things to be mean. Mostly it was to voice their sadness that this show was not up to what we have come to expect from Charlie and the others.
I am one of the biggest fans of this music. My intent was not to be hateful. It was to give an answer to the question as to why the show had closed so soon.
Sorry so many felt like shooting the messenger.
