Consecrated2God -> Hello from your friendly neighborhood moderator (8/8/2008 2:08:23 PM)

I know some of you are probably wondering about all the red-lettered moderator notes popping up all over this forum. You might have thought that the Science & Origin folder is somewhat more lax in their rules than other folders here because of the nature of the debate. However, all debates on forums are subject to the Terms of Service and the Range of Doctrines. For quite some time there wasn't a moderator who was specifically assigned to this area, although several of them did do their best to cover this area as they were able. I've recently returned for a leave of absence and decided to take on a challenge and cover this folder. I know, you probably think I'm crazy, but don't worry, lot's of people think that about me, so I'm used to it. [;)] Let me introduce myself. My name is Lisa. I'm a 29 year-old mother of six, and I'm a second generation homeschooler. My husband is the pastor of a small country church. I've been a member of these forums since fall of 2001, and I've been a moderator off and on since 2003. I'm glad to be back, and I hope to do my best to keep the Science & Origins folder in line. Specifically, I'd like to ask the regulars here to do a few things. First, if you haven't already, please review the Range of Doctrines and the Terms of Service. You can find the TOS on the top in the toolbar, or on the bottom of the page just above the Salem Web Network logo. The ROD is also down at the bottom of the page. Here is the part in the ROD that is the most important to this folder: quote:
4.. Creation, "young earth," Evolution: Range of views: Most Faith Community Network staff, monitors and users believe that God specifically and individually created each species and that Darwinian macro-evolution is a lie. Many believe creation took place over six 24 hour days between 10,000 and 100,000 years ago. However, many O/Es [including C. S. Lewis and most British evangelicals] believe that God may have used evolution as one facet of the creation of the universe, and that the word "day" in Genesis need not preclude creation taking place over billions of years. An increasing number of evangelicals believe that the Big Bang is a more powerful argument for a Christian view of Creation than it is for an atheistic or materialist view. Unacceptable: Forceful, sustained argument that science has completely disproved any involvement of God in creation and that evolution, if true, requires that God not exist or that human beings are nothing more than animals. If you are an athiest, please be aware that proselytizing will nto be allowed. Do not try to come here and convert Christians to athiesm. Second, I want you to be aware that I am going to be cracking down on threads that go off-topic. Many of the threads here turn into the same old discussion, and that needs to end. If you want to reply to a sidepoint someone made, but it doesn't fit into the topic, please start a new thread. And lastly, please be nice to each other. Do not insult each other or call names. Harassing users is a Terms of Service violation, and will not be tolerated. I look forward to good, friendly debates. Sincerely, Lisa Luper Forums Moderator
