This summer I have been working on developing a free, "Toss a Topic"-like contest which will host regular contests that matter to writers like you. When you win, your name and story appear in full-text on our website for the world (and your prospective publishers) to see! Regardless of whether you choose to write professionally or not, it's fun just to be able to say that you won a real contest, and you have the proof on our website!

What I'd like to ask of you is twofold: Would you be willing to help with the contest in any way, either by judging, providing prizes, or by entering articles? Do you have any ideas that could help make these contests more fun for writers and readers alike, as well as making them more helpful to put on your resume?

Looks good, Locke! Perhaps I shall have the time to join in, depending. I think the closing quotation mark is in the box where it says "Test your skills" and then there's no closing quotation mark. Otherwise, looks good.

You're welcome to use the "Toss a topic" Name if you'd like, I don't mind.

The open quote is just a part of the template design. [:)] Maybe I'll change it...

Yep - it sure is. It certainly censors out the fluff - when I first did a Toss a Topic here that ScarletFury put on, I had to cut out several paragraphs to make it fit.
On the upside, it teaches us how to make more effective use of our words, and it's a heckofa lot easier to read thru a bunch of them and decide on a winner. [:)]
Maybe someday when we've got lots of entries we can add a longer contest.

Update: We have an entry in the "Topical" contest as well!!! There are just nine days until these contests close, so please get your entries in! We love to read them.

ONLY SIX DAYS REMAIN UNTIL OUR CONTESTS CLOSE FOR JUDGING!!! PLEASE GET IN YOUR ENTRIES RIGHT AWAY! The closing date for Toss a Topic #1 and Topical #1 is Monday, August 25th, 2008.

Yes, both contests close on the 25th - however, if I don't have enough entries, I will extend the deadline. Please get your entry in ASAP though! I'm really encouraged by recent feedback.

Unfortunately, the response has been quite insufficient to declare a winner for TAT or finish Topical so we can go to the voting stage.

I've been rather surprised about that - i'd have thought there would be more interest. I guess we'll see how it goes as to whether or not I hold more in the future.
