revbob4God -> does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/6/2008 1:54:07 PM)

That's it. Thats the question. I really hate that word.

doinkdom -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/6/2008 2:37:25 PM)

husband is better?

is hubby like wifey? sort of juvenile sounding, but easier to type?

Auben -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/6/2008 2:38:44 PM)

Well, I've never been referred to as 'hubby' (and probably not many of the women here have either).

But I don't call my husband that. We're not the nickname type though. No 'honeys' 'dears' 'babes.'

The closest we get is 'my love.'

car2ner -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/6/2008 2:58:05 PM)

the only place that sounds good is on ice-cream... Ben and Jerry's Chubby Hubby!

My husband is m'love online here, Sir at home (and in jest), and sometimes the cutesy names slip out but I really don't like them... cutesy names take on a life of their own.

If I use hubby, it is to tease [;)]

moon_mouse -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/6/2008 3:32:49 PM)

I think we had a thread here about that not too long ago, and I was surprised at how many people disliked the term. I use the term all the time for my hubby, and it's meant as an endearment...I think it has a huggable sound. If he had a problem with it, I'd stop, but he likes it, which is all that matters.

mrsrevbob -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/7/2008 10:05:59 AM)

I do not personally believe that this word is huggable or even cute.

moon_mouse -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/7/2008 10:31:29 AM)

That's fine. You don't have to use it. But, since I'm not calling your husband that, what I call mine shouldn't really matter to you if he doesn't mind.

ta_mosquito -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/7/2008 10:35:15 AM)

I LOVE MY HUBBY! [:D]

Oh, and I use the term all the time. He doesn't mind it, either. [;)]

42servehymn -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/7/2008 9:07:22 PM)

I use it mostly because I type slowly and it's faster than saying my husband. My husband doesn't mind that I refer to him like that although in real life he is sweetie or honey. He is only hubby on Crosswalk.

car2ner -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/8/2008 2:40:10 PM)

Count your blessing Rev... you could be POOKEY!

ta_mosquito -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/8/2008 2:44:14 PM)

...Or Poopsie. [8D]

Consecrated2God -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/8/2008 2:46:35 PM)

Did you mean to ask the women this question? Cause I don't think any of us have ever been called "hubby". [:D]

I don't usually use the word myself. It just sounds funny to me.

Focusing -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/8/2008 2:53:25 PM)

I wouldn't want to be called hubby. For one, I'm a woman. And two, I'm single. [8D]

LOL, I used that to tease my (Ex)husband (do you think that could be why he's an Ex?? [sm=icon_smile_yikes.gif]) years ago... he responded by calling me "Poopsette", lol! It was one of his better moments [:D]...

Thanks that made me smile - and to remember that there were some fun times in that marriage too...

But to the OP- I don't think he'd have minded "Hubby", but I don't recall ever calling him that.

ta_mosquito -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/8/2008 5:13:02 PM)

Sometimes in their sillier, romantic moments, my dad calls Mom "Poopsie" and Mom calls Dad "Snoogums." Of course, they don't call them that on public forums. [;)]

Oh, and in case anyone needs a refresher course on how to be romantic, HERE is a good one. (And, to fit into this thread, see the section about pet names.) Enjoy!

beachcooky -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/8/2008 7:52:41 PM)

I say "hubby" just joking around.
But when I get married, I'll just call him husband.
hah.

ebony101 -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/10/2008 6:18:26 AM)

I have a thing about using people's names. So, most likely, I'll use my future husband's name instead of "hubby".

stellaluna -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/10/2008 3:10:53 PM)

I hate it. No one has ever seen my use it on these boards. I always type out husband. [:D] I don't know if my husband has a preference since I've never asked him.

Neeva_Candida -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/10/2008 3:12:47 PM)

No.

I read that as you'd say to him, "Husbaaaaaaaaaaaand, dinner's ready!" LOL

I use the word hubby all the time on the net because I don't like to use DH and it's faster to type than Husband. I call him Baby IRL though.

hubby, hubby, hubby, hubby!!!![:D][8D][sm=frog.gif][sm=hammerhead.gif]

PatricksPeaches -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/16/2008 12:22:57 AM)

I use hubby and dh, it is just faster than typing the whole word. At home he is "hon" or "Daddy". He calls me "hon bun". I don't think he cares too much what I call him, just as long as its respectfully done.

lawl, forget his name. it's just going to be "husband" from then on! hahaha.

LoyalFriend -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/16/2008 7:37:56 AM)

I refer to him online as my hubby or my husband, but in public I usually just refer to him by his name. I don't really think there is anything wrong with saying my hubby and I think it sounds nice when I hear others say it.

How about snuggle bear and honey bunch and gator guy all names he seems to enjoy me calling him at home. [;)]

As long the nickname is respectful and your spouse is okay with it, I think it's all good.

Zhi -> RE: does anybody else hate being referred to as hubby? (8/19/2008 12:46:51 AM)

Could be worse. My Korean national friend's term of endearment for husband sounds something like "guh guh".

I always thought "hubby" was a cross between "husband" and "hubbah hubbah", which should be at least a little bit complementary. ;)
