abstain -> monthly cycle (8/3/2008 11:12:54 PM)

Hello, for the past 3 months my period has been off...I usually would get it on the 16th...Thenl, one month it came a day early the 15th, the following month it came on the 13th, then last month it came on the 4th....Its just pretty weird b/c my periods have always been on sch'd.
Does anyone know what is going on with that?

ALSO, lastnight my husband and I had "our time together"[;)] and we were using a condom, well after we were done my husband sees that the condom was busted right through!![sm=eek.gif] It was very funny, yet not. LOL the funny thing is my husband said the only way we're getting preg again is if the Lord allows the condom to get a hole in it! so it was just a crazy laughing time... anyway

so now, im just not sure I am expecting to get my period tomorrow which is the 4th, the same time I got my period last month, but I guess we'll see....

Would it be likely for me to be pregnant? I dont think I was ovulating.......
Thanks for any comments....

If you were expecting your period tomorrow, likely you aren't pregnant, since we usually ovulate around two weeks before our periods. Or, somewhere around there. Have you gotten PMS symptoms already? If you have likely you'll be getting your period very soon and won't be pregnant.

Not sure about the off periods question though.

Regarding your cycle - How old are you? Could it possibly be early menopause? If it were me because I know how my cycles should be I would go to the doctor, to see what they think.

Pregnancy - If you are expecting your period in the next couple of days then I would highly doubt you are going to become pregnant, not that it could not happen, just highly unlikely.

thanks for the comments :)

I dont think it'd be early menopause, well, i certainly hope not anyway....I am 28 yrs old.....

I guess, I'll see what happens today. It feels like my period will start today though....Could it be that it was just rotating or something like that? Someone mentioned that to me.. I dont know..

Different things can throw your cycle off . . . . stress, diet, weight loss/gain, change in exercise, etc. (that info I got from my OB). Usually it will regulate again in a few months. If you are concerned, call and ask your doctor.

pumpkin -> RE: monthly cycle (8/4/2008 9:30:17 AM)

If you have regular periods, it will be a certain number of days between periods... say 28. Months do not have 28 days on a regular basis, so having your period exactly on the 14th or whatever each month would be unusual. You should keep track of how many days between periods, and that will likely tell you more.

abstain -> RE: monthly cycle (8/4/2008 3:35:10 PM)

welp, looks like my period is going to start on the 4th of each month from now on..... it's slowly coming in today.

thanks for the comments :)

artemis -> RE: monthly cycle (8/4/2008 4:06:17 PM)

Glad you figured out what was going on [:)]

Since months don't have the same number of days in them, even if you have a regular cycle, they shouldn't always start on the exact same day of the month. Plus, "monthly cycle" is not entirely accurate since it doesn't have to be on a strictly monthly basis. I've gone as long as 9 months without having a period... no ovulation, not pregnant, just no period [:o]

abstain -> RE: monthly cycle (8/5/2008 11:20:54 PM)

ok, so i thought my period was going to show up yesterday but it didnt.....im waiting on it tonight, so i'll see in the morning....

its weird though b/c I had just a slight spotting when i wiped 2 times yesterday but after that i never got anymore. [8|][8|][8|] None today either...I still have slight cramps though like my period is going to come. I was really expecting it yesterday b/c the way everything was feeling...just the regular ol' signs of my period.....

If it doesnt show up tomorrow or the next day I'll call the dr office and make an appt.

Have you looked into reading the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It's a fantastic book that isn't just for 'trying' or 'avoiding' pregnancy but rather is great informationally as well. The first time I read my eyes were really opened as to how very little I actually knew about my own body/cycles/fertility. Women/girls just aren't taught properly about our bodies and menstruation in general...

thanks, I'll have to check that book out! :) I'm sure my eyes will be opened too. lol thanks for suggesting it....

Auben -> RE: monthly cycle (8/7/2008 3:58:20 PM)

That's a great book. Highly recommended.

In my own experience your period will change over the course of your life. When I was a teen and in college I skipped constantly...usually every third month I had a skip and even several in a row was not unusual. After I had my first child at 26 was the first time my cycle stabilized (no more skipping) but it was a long cycle (33-34 days). It stayed that way for almost 10 years.

In the last few years I suddenly went from a long cycle to a shorter cycle again (27-28 days). No specific reason. Maybe it's been too long since I've been pregnant. [:D]

Your cycle can also be affected by living or working closely with other women, stress, eating changes, excersize, nursing, and sleep (or lack of it).

BlessedAngel1983 -> RE: monthly cycle (8/20/2008 12:36:24 AM)

Hormone levels change too, which can also change the timing of when your cycle will be. I went without mine at one point for almost 3 years.

PatricksPeaches -> RE: monthly cycle (8/20/2008 12:47:18 AM)

I have gone for long periods of time without a period too. I have had to either regulate with birth control pills or hormones. It is unhealthy to go for extended periods of time with no period. (So my OB says[;)]) My body just doesn't function right when I am at a heavier weight. I do not have PCOS (I have been checked) and everything else is normal. (normal hormones levels and thyroid) Just weight is the only reason they can find. So for me, my birth control is being fat. lol[8D] Not that I am trying to not get pregnant, just how it works for me. If I want to get prego I would have to lose weight.

BlessedAngel1983 -> RE: monthly cycle (8/20/2008 11:34:16 PM)

When my sister decided she wanted to try getting pregnant they started her on Metformin. She has PCOS and has suffered for years. When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes they put me on the same medicine just a higher dosage.

The first time I started the meds I dropped 50 lbs like it wasn't anything and best of all my cycle evened out.

When I was diagnosed with PCOS in 2003 and put on Metformin I dropped 30+ pounds and my cycle regulated from month one! Then 18 months later we were pg with our first daughter, Hannah! [:)]
