Sorry about that Dad...
Dad all in all ....what actually makes a song a classic? Truthfully I have no idea in the first place [:(]... is it similar as to how they would rate an automobile...per say? , or certain amount of years ...or Top 10.....amount of music awards?

That's a good question. To be serious, it's pretty subjective. In my world, Classic Rock died the day kids turned their backs on the guitar gods and adopted Grunge. Some think it all got started when the Beatles saved music from the The Beach Boys, but to me it really began with the greatest band of all time, the mighty Led Zeppelin in '68. In any case, I judge any song to be non-Classic Rock if it would have merited someone a severe horse laughing back in 1980, dressed in our 501's and white tennis shoes. [;)]

I don't know what classification that music was but I guess that would also include "the Cars" type stuff?

Remember "LoverBoy" a little more loose than Devo or the Cars

Have you heard any of Tommy Shaw's solo stuff or the stuff he did with Jack Blades?

NDY

Greetings,

I found some goodies (Glam Metal) for ya …

Amazing NDY...
I just that checked out Jack Blades and I found out that Jack was a spin off from Night Ranger? I never knew that!

I remember we didn't do this song below ...or as a matter of fact we ended doing nothing from Night Ranger because, some members were saying they were to bubble gum.... plus the fact we were having problems finding keyboard players back then, it was hard breaking them away from Billy Joel!
SO we gave up on the night Ranger stuff …always wanted to do this one though
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SR44JDTUgR0

But is was all in fun!!

………

What ever happened to Lita Ford?
..Remember her? Dressed to kill! [8D]
She was a very clean lead… Personally I thought she was better lead than most of the males of the day..

Here is a clean one for ya, with OZZY; it’s good to see that Ozzy at least did 1 song singing from the heart instead of his head...LOL
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=md1MtPK2yws
Some good pickin for the 12 string in there [;)]

Lita...
Check our her second lead here in this one.. about 1:45…if you aren’t lookin!...she sounds like Jimmy Page.. and to boot she really strangles that neck and the end [sm=icon_smile_faint.gif]...man..(That’s a classic ditti), even the guys are going to like that lead…this girl can fly!!

For years I thought Lita played lead for Vixen also… But I stand corrected here…
I never knew the Ladies could jam like that!! [8|]

Here’s some Vixen, check out Jan on Guitar also. I think it is Jan,

I always liked Night Ranger. Wasn't too fond of Lita Ford, though.

Here are a couple of songs that haunted my youth and made me despair the state of rock and roll in the 70s. Listen at your own risk. You have been warned. [:D]

One
Two

I have an idea to make a thread about worst ever classic rock songs. Could be fun and/or revolting. [:D] I'll start it when I have more time.

HERE are some rockin' ladies from the 80s. I had forgotten all about them until I was sorting through my old Guitar Player Mags. I also have the Randy Rhodes tribute edition of that magazine. I should take it to the Antiques Roadshow or something. [:D]

Most people remember Journey for the way they were after Steve Perry & Jonathan Cain ruined this perfectly good band. Some of us still remember them from when they rocked! Here's a very angry Neil Schon with Greg Rollie, Ross Valerie, and the amazing Ansley Dunbar.

Greetings,

I kinda lost track of them, did get a chance to see them with Bryan Adams when Adams was coming up in the ranks ...that was a very good ticket, 2 very tight bands.

But I never heard that song above from Journey, and I see what you mean...good jam... but very lacking in the vocal dept. [:(]

I was looking at some Journey on the video tube and that first one that I came up with ;I thought was someone’s band playing Journey...the guy sounded like Perry, and it ended up being Journey... but definitely the singer did not look like Steve...LOL

It's not Journey without Perry!

I guess he finally had that "Forever Yours" experience….and decided to go home!! [:)]

On Journey, they were still a good band when Perry first joined (IMO). It was when he brought his buddy Jonathan Cain in that the whole thing went into the tiolet. Perry/Cain did the same thing to Journey that Michael McDonald did to the Doobies. Bluck!

Here's some more prog-Rock, pre-Perry Journey:

That was Jack Blades and Tommy Shaw...Not Styx, Not Night Ranger...Just Shaw/Blades. Those 2 are amazing together...the album is called Inspirations...they did another one of all original stuff called Hallucination. That one was also awesome! They sorta got "started" when Dang Yankees cranked up...

Anyway...their stuff is definitely heavy in my rotation and has been for years!

Hey Mike! I can't believe you omitted Michael Jackson's Thriller video. Pure Halloween especially with Vincent Price's narration.

David Lee Roth also had some crazy videos as well after he left Van Halen for his solo career.

The Cars "You Might Think" was another funny one.

And who cannot forget Twisted Sister's Dee Snider who was not "Gonna Take it" anymore.

Probably because Thriller and all of Michael Jackson's music is Pop/R&B, not Classic Rock.

I love the sound of the kick in the intro here.
