Queen Of Spades - Styx

Queen of Spades live is awesome!!!
I think they're great live period...and T. Shaw's guitar playing makes me totally ill! The 12 string picking on Crystal Ball...oh yeah...but as a (now retired) guitar player, I used to listen to that stuff and play until my fingers bled.

Ok...I lost a little interest in the "Roboto" era, (but there are still a couple killer tunes on that album), and the "Show Me The Way" era...but quickly perked up interest in their current incarnation.

Have you heard any of Tommy Shaw's solo stuff or the stuff he did with Jack Blades?

[:D]

You know what made me ask that... was when I was in my teens and early 20's, my Sisiter and I used go everywhere together, my Mom always called her the black sheep of the family (a 60,s child)... but I was attracted because she was just different, she was not like my Religious family, [:(] and at that time I didn't know any better what that even meant!...[;)]

...So we always dragged each other out wherever we went...to go shopping and stuff like that, after a while she became a regular supporter of the band and when I use to introduced her I always said she my Mom ...(just teasing)...she was 15 years older than me...(but I just trying to keep her out of trouble!!)....[:D]..., but after a while I kind of quit doing that after a while when she clocked me in the ribs!

I never entered into the head banger or the full Metal scenes but I still have a copy of
Enter Sandman by Metallica, I like to practice…those crazy 8th notes…and the song is easily done.

Just recently I was speaking to an older (secular) Metal Momma, and I remember a word of wisdom she gave, when she said, “Metal Mommas don’t get old...they just get saved.... I always played acoustic...that was sorta the way I rolled as a guitar player...as a singer I would (and do) sing almost anything...

I'm still pretty secular...My latest "replay" CD is Kid Rock's Rock n' Roll Jesus...it's got some GREAT stuff on there...and most Christian stuff makes me just want to tear the headphones off and scream...

So....I guess I'm still a "Metal Momma"...but I have absolutely no songwriting skills...I don't write 'em, I just sing 'em...

Sorry about that Dad...
Dad all in all ....what actually makes a song a classic? Truthfully I have no idea in the first place [:(]... is it similar as to how they would rate an automobile...per say? , or certain amount of years ...or Top 10.....amount of music awards?

I am just trying to jog my memory at this point; we did over 147 songs form 1978 to 1990 and generally played each others favorites during the course,

I am not far from Country Music; as a matter of fact it was Country that started my way to the Lord

.. Never paid too much attention to ARS …gotta play a popular tune… for remembrance sake...
I like they way they did their website… each song has a little explanation with it,

But …I do remember Travis...he is one style of his own ..Good County Rocker....! and he loves his Gospel
I like his honky tonk also... like ...Here's A Quarter [Call Someone Who Cares] [sm=wave.gif]

I love stuff like that... I am an extremist as far as country goes! Either is Rocks …or it is totally honk tonk, nothing in between!!!
Bonnie Raitt… and my all time favorite is Hank Jr.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hYd90nEXLus
… I have a message for Hank though….if he is searching all over hell for heaven; in the bars and in the honky tonks…etc, but heaven (she) can’t be found… it most likely means she got saved!! [:D]

Bonnie Raitt and Bryan Adams (summer of 69) do a great duet on the tube, a little loose with the subject line… better not to post that one … But here is a clean cut of Run to You by Bryan Adams

Cool videos! Did Leslie West give up on Les Paul Junior? Still awesome tone, though. I always liked Alvin Lee, too. I have an LP with a song called "Woodchoppers Ball" which has some great jazz guitaring, it just smokes! It sounds like it's recorded in a small club. That makes it sound even cooler.

I went to a Mountain concert around 1984 and my ears are still ringing! They shared a bill with Savoy Brown, Iron Butterfly and Mark Farner. We almost caught Mark's harmonica when he threw it in the audience.

I play a mid 70s Les Paul Deluxe I picked up for a couple hundred bucks in the mid 80s. It had a bad finish so I stripped it down and kept it natural. I'll never get rid of that guitar, but I would like to supplement it with a Strat or Tele. $$$ is always the issue.[&o]
