I'm a big fan of David Sanborn, he's a really smooth jazz saxophonist who plays some nice chill music. This man’s music has been playing in my family’s house since the 80’s. haha. My friends at umgd told me August 12th is when his CD Here and Gone comes out! If you are not familiar with him or his music I recommend checking out this Myspace page. Let me know what you think! http://www.myspace.com/davidsanbornband ~*Leslie*~

Nothing, just got home from church. LOL However the last thing I listened to was a few songs from Katatonia. From their two most recent CDs. Before that a little Sixx: A.M.

I am addicted to Sixx:AM, mostly because it was Nikki Sixx who inspired me to pick up bass and the album is so compelling and shows the darkness invlved with drug abuse. Right now, I have Monsters of Metal volume 5 on the dvd player, just passed a Katatonia video and now am on one from Immortal. Great norwegian death metal for those that like music about nordic folklore.

right now it varies, sometimes KISS, sometimes FRANKIE BEVERLY, AND SOMETIMES CHRISTIAN METAL(OK I LIED, LOTS OF CHRISTIAN METAL). JUST DEPENDS ON MY MOOD. I FEEL THAT PEOPLE LISTEN TO SECULAR MUSIC BECAUSE THEY CAN IDENTIFY WITH A PERSON THAT IS TORTURED AND TORMENTED MORE THAN A GOOD CLEAN WHOLESOME PERSON or THE ILLUSION OF. TO BE TRUTHFUL, I DON`T TRUST ANYONE THAT HASN`T BEEN THROUGH THE FIRE OF LIFE.

Yesterday, I was listening to Angel of Death by Slayer, Raining Blood by Slayer, Cyanide by Deathstars, Last in Line by Dio, Freedom by Alice Cooper. On the reasons why i listen to secular, its not that I identify with the artists as much. I don't take any form of entertainment seriously. If I hear a band that has all the elements together, great music and a great singer, Then I will buy it. It doesn't matter if they are Christian oriented or not.

ORIGINAL: kencool99 when it comes to music, people fear what they don`t understand and sometimes don`t like the truth of reality. This is so true. However, sometimes I do have to draw the line. Like on Exodus's Tempo of the Damned album. There are 2 songs on it that I have never played because the names have warned me not to play them. These are Scar Spagled Banner and Shroud of Urine (trust me you don't want to know whats it about) But besides that there are 10 other songs on there that I have no problem with. I love that Dio album, looking foward to the new Heaven and Hell album next year. Dio is great no matter what band he is in.

The last two nights (last night with a buddy): Paradise Lost: In Requiem. Nice return to form for the band. I'm not sure how to describe the band's sound. Mid paced metal with a doomy feel and haunting touches like pianos, organs and wordless female backing vocals (ah...ahh ... ahhh). The singer alternates between a sort of James Hetfield aggressive voval style and a Typo O Negative bass vocal style. BTW: This band has little to do with Milton's poem of the same name (they may have done something on an earlier album connected to it). If you're looking for that check out Symphony X's CD entitled "Paradise Lost". Symphony X is comparable to a heavier, more aggressive Dream Theater (it isn't an exact comparison but it'll do for a starting point). Funny think is Amazon paired these two CDs to gether (as in a "Better together buy") even though the bands have little to do with each other sound wise.

I wasn't that familiar with Paradise Lost, until I saw them open for Nightwish last november. After they played, I rushed to the sovenier booth to pck up a copy of In Requiem. They had every copy autographed. Have you heard of Sonata Arctica? They are a good symphonic band. They usually do alot of work with Nightwish. Though Nightwish is obviously the better band. If your interested in Nightwish, check out their Dark Passion Play album. It has more to do with the band leader (Tuomas) fighting his own personal demons, than anything occult.

Have you heard of Sonata Arctica? Had their second CD, "Silence" I believe. Pleasant for awhile but got old. Not bad, just not a keeper for me. Maybe their later CDs are better, I'll try to check them out. quote:
If your interested in Nightwish, check out their Dark Passion Play album. Got it, love it. Some angst toward former singer Tarja also ("Bye Bye Beautiful"). The first song is just epic, probably the best they have ever done. I really like "Once" also. Thanks for the suggestions. quote:

Unia is a pretty good album from Sonata Arctica. The hardest thing for me to get used to was the singer. He grew on me eventually. Not something that I usually play often. I love the latest Nightwish cd. I personally like the new singer better, she is more what the band needed because even though Tarja was an opera singer, that was her limitation. Then BYe BYe Beautiful, what can I say. This september Nightwish returns to Florida with Sonata Arctica. It will be interesting to see how they are live.
