Ruth, one of the things Greg could try for his cholesterol is Niacin, it's a B vitamin and my dad has used it with great success(and diet changes) to lower his extremely high cholesterol. That probably wouldn't be to homeopathic for him...

Oh, it's a vitamin supplement? I don't think he'd mind looking into that Ryanne. Thanks!

Oatmeal and Cheerios, Ruth. My dad ate both of those almost everyday, along with cutting out ice cream and mayonaise, his cholesterol is much better now.

Nicole , that's so cool you got some hamster stuff for free! I love hamsters.

I didn't actually expect anyone to respond to my ad so I am super surprised 2 people already have! Since my hamster wrecks her cages after a couple of months I figured I might as well try to get ones for free. I had an ad looking for a better cockatiel cage since I don't like the one that came with our cockatiel. Well, a lady had one for sale that was almost exactly like the one we have now and she wanted $60 for it. Ours came with our bird that only cost us $40 so I kindly say thanks, but no.

Fisher (cockatiel) is sitting on my shoulder and singing right now. He is always very happy when he's on me. If he's on Lorne's shoulder and sees me he will jump off of Lorne and sit on my shoulder. Poor Lorne. All of our pets besides one cat loves me more. I am home with them all day so they are used to me more. The one cat that loves him is totally in love with him. She gets so excited when he gets home and will follow him around the house wanting to sleep on him. She will always go to Lorne first if we are both home. I should post a picture of them together since it's so cute. I will do that in a bit. It's still on my camera.

Thank you for your prayers and thoughts ladies, and thanks also to all of you who are helping with the postcard project I'm cooking up for my class... I can't wait to see their little faces when post starts arriving .

Claire, I read your blog ((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))

I added your blog to my blog's page so I can keep up with you!

So funny. Another lady emailed me saying she has a huge bag of hamster shavings. She lives like 45 minutes from us so I told her it might be too far to drive. She told me that if she is ever on this side of town she will let me know. And like 10 emails later we are still chatting! We are talking about the city, where we grew up, how her husband is living in another city because he hasn't found a job here yet (she and her kids just moved her a month ago) and everything! It is pretty funny how I've talked back and forth with 2 people through emails today just because I posted an ad for free small animal supplies.

Hi everybody! I am not a SAHM, but Sarah said I could come in here.

I need some help with a work project. I work at the Northern Ohio Poison Center, and we've discovered that some of the 411 services have our administrative line listed as the number for Poison Control. We have gotten callers from several different states who tell us they got the number from 411. This creates delays that could potentially be serious, since we have to reroute them to the correct poison center, to say nothing of increasing our already huge call volume. My mission is to determine which 411 services have the wrong number and correct them.

If it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg to call 411, would you mind calling and asking for the number for Poison Control? They should give you 800-222-1222. If they don't, would you mind pm'ing me with a)your zip code, b) whether you called from a cell phone or a land line, and c) the number they gave you.

Any help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Greg has a follow up appointment on Wednesday with his general practioner, so if he's still in pain we can go from there with Kaiser specialists.

I feel tired, but better. I was getting crabby, so I turned that into productive work. The home office still isn't perfect, but it looks a lot better then it did 45 minutes ago. Greg shouldn't be picking Nathan up, so I bathed and dressed our little man, and Greg played blocks and read to him and fed him a bedtime snack while I cleaned . They're watching an episode now of Curious George, then we'll do the rest of the bedtime routine.

Nathan has been all out of sorts today, but after yesterday and the fact that he's congested, I don't blame him.

Ruth...I am SO sorry Greg is feeling so badly. I truly hope it's something simple. Even if it is appendicitis...he can have it out and he'll be feeling better in no time!

Ruth, I hope they can figure out what it is.

Cindy, Verizon Wireless 411 gives the correct number.

Hey Nicole , maybe you will make pet loving friends that way. Didn't you say you hadn't made friends at your new place yet?

So, a big Praise God over here!!! I called my old neighbor yesterday to say hi, and he said everyone in the building was evicted. We moved JUST IN TIME! Thank you Uncle Sam for the rebate check, or we wouldn't have moved! I guess our old building is getting new owners.

Took a test tonight and it was negative, but still no visit from AF. I wasn't thinking and only bought a box with 1 test so now I can't test first thing in the morning. Would it really make that big of a difference though? After I drop Hunter off at the his day out program I am going to run by the dollar tree and pick up a couple of test. Has anyone used those? I doubt I will test again until Wednesday morning or maybe AF will show up...this is torture! I did have a small and I mean small amount of brown discharge so I don't know what that means either. When does implantation occur? Ughh...ok sorry I should be discussing this in another thread.

The tests from dollar tree are the only ones I use. And a site I found online say that the detect sooner than the equate, first respnse, and clear blue tests. Although when mine came up positve it was first thing in the morning and was a very faint line. My hubby and I were trying and I was about 4 days late so I new that it wasn't a mistest. But thats just my 2cents

I used lots of them, but umm, that tells you nothing. I still have a couple here, in fact, plus a regular name brand one from the grocery store. I gave most of them away, but held on to a couple for some unknown reason. Who knows why. I should just throw them out.

Ruth, sorry your hubby is still not feeling well. I'm glad it looks like no surgery though. Hopefully it's something simple that will resolve itself soon.

Yesterday Dustin and I were going through this scrapbook thing his grandmother put together. We found out that in 1910, his great great grandfather invented headphones! In the early 1900's, he had a multi-million dollar company and his employees were paid (ready for this?) $4 A DAY. He was some kind of genius and never stopped inventing things... but he wasn't so fiscally responsible and ended up bankrupt... and in jail. lol We thought it was pretty fascinating though, because his first large order for his new fangled invention was when the US Navy bought 200 of them for their pilots to use in World War I. Rumor has it that the first tv was also built in his factory.

Something else interesting, though not quite so cool, lol, was his great great great great grandfather (yes, that's 4 greats) was none other than Brigham Young. The guy that succeeded Joseph Smith (who he's also related to very distantly, we're told ) as the head of the Mormon religion and founded BYU, University of Utah, as well as Salt Lake City itself. D's great great great great grandmother was one of Young's first few wives out of....... 55. I'm sure the LDS members of his family are thrilled at this family line, but we think it's a little freaky.

All these famous people, and yet no inheritance.

Crystal - That is crazy about Dustin's family history

I just had the sweetest time with Hunter. He had been playing and talking in his crib for 45 minutes when I figured I better make sure he didn't poop and that is why he wasn't going to sleep. I walked in his room and he said "Hi" so I took him out and sat in the rocking chair with him. We rocked and he let me snuggle him like when was a newborn. He was slap happy (that is what I call it when you are so tired you are acting goofy) and cracking me up. I loved it too because I was getting a ton of lovin'. It's moments like that, that make it seem like all is well with the world.

Well I am off to bed, but doubt I will sleep well...to much on my mind.

Get some sleep, Crystal, you've had a tough night.

That is cool about your hubby's family tree, though.

Chelle, I'm glad you had some snuggle time with Hunter. Nathan has been having a rough time of it lately, and sometimes I'll sit him on my lap to sing to him in order to help him sleep.

Looks like I was worrying about nothing as I am pretty sure AF is arriving. Oh well, I know God's timing is better and it will happen when it is suppose too Still disappointed though, but relieved all at the same time...I feel nutty

Well, after I drop Hunter off today I need to run by the post office and pick up a flat rate box. Then I am coming home to clean, clean, clean! Hubby is picking Hunter up on his way home for lunch. My goal is to have gotten a ton of cleaning done so I can relax and enjoy some down time during Hunter's nap. That is about it for me though! Have a great day ladies

Ok, I talked to work, and we agreed that I'll take an extra week of vacation to extend my leave, so I'll be going back to work (very reluctantly) on the 22nd.

I have posted full updates in the Working outside the home thread.

The basement guys are here today, they are setting up the forms, and pouring the concrete later today. The walls need to "set" for a few days, so they will probably move the house onto the basement at the beginning of next week. It's all happening very fast!!

Good morning everyone!

Nothing much going on here today. I'm going to take the kids to our play centre this morning and then take Akeelah to the library this evening.

Hope you all have a nice day!
