Hi again FirstWitness. And a very pleasant evening to you - as they say here in the UK.

Hi Maggie,

This parallel universe is so good. Never met so many nice people. I wonder if they think it's me or someone else.

Has anyone got a piece of a jigsaw puzzle missing?

I've just finished a 500 piece jigsaw puzzle and I have an extra piece.

I've just found a car wheel in the fridge.

Don't know how it got there ...

Went to the optician to check if I needed spectacles. He took me to the window and pointing up he said: What's that?

- The sun.

- How far do you want to see?

Hey Mvic, how are you doing? Its a Holiday here in the States tomorrow, but not a major one though. I am sure that more than a few people will be working. I have the day off though, which I am happy for.

Hi Humble,

Thanx for writing in. As you can see from my last post I was letting this thread fade away unless someone wrote in ... so you saved it for a while.

Hope you enjoy the holiday on Monday. We were told about Monday being a US holiday on TV news because the Stock Exchange is closed in the US on Monday - so the London Exchange will not react to it according to the news people. All the news here is about the economy.

We've no more public holidays until Christmas. Although we celebrate Halloween which is our next feast. The shops are full of Halloween goodies.

Hope you're keeping well.

I like your new avatar. I'm sure you wouldn't lie to me. So here's a question: How many different avatars have you got with you holding a notice?

Look forward to seeing them all.

Best wishes from the UK. (Cold, grey and miserable here. No rain though. Yet).

Hi MVIC, bummer about the cold and dreary UK!

How many signs do I have? Only as many as Ezri has made for me, which I believe is 4 plus the original one that came from Weird Alavatars website. So this is the last one for now.

I heard that the UK has been hit very hard too! 2 banks that were mentioned over there I do have business with, so that got my attention, but anyway.

Not much else happening here, Autumn is upon the area, Winter will be here soon!

Yes ... two Banks - Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley have been taken into Government ownership. I understand also others are in line. We're living in difficult times I'm afraid.

Here Autumn has started - the trees are turning a beautiful shade of bronze and orange. Last week I had to scrape the frost from the car windows before driving. It was early in the morning, I was in a hurry and couldn't find the frost-spray. Luckily, the car started the first time I turned the key.

Hi Maggie!

One of the banks was the Royal Bank of Scotland, which is the parent to one of the banks here. Then there is a credit card issuer from there too.

Talking of turkeys .... frozen turkeys in the supermarkets range from minimum £10 each to £50 each.

So in US dollars it would make $20 to $100 depending on size.

Don't know how much this is in Canada.

I wonder how many people will have turkey for Christmas in the UK.

Frozen geese = £32 and ducks = £6.

The Government will part-own the Royal Bank of Scotland.

Yikes on both counts MV, maybe it is time for me to find a new bank! And the pickings here are fairly slim these days.

It's been cold and rainy. Yesterday it was 7ºC. We had threat of flurries but they didn't materialize.

As far as the economy goes. our local economy seems to be booming. Maybe the problems of the larger centres take time to filter through to the hinterlands.

My book has gone to print. One copy will be printed and sent to me for approval. If I'm happy with it, then we're ready to design the postcards, bookmarks and business cards and plan the book launch. I hope it doesn't take forever.

I haven't heard anything MV, however if The Royal Bank of Scotland is in trouble then maybe I should be semi-concerned. A good thing about the U.S. is that they guarantee all deposits up to $240,000 if they take over a bank from failing.

Congratulations Maggie, I hope it comes out real soon!

Hey you're lucky....

I doubt anyone here has $240,000.
