We will be leaving soon to go back over to my parents. My aunt/uncle/cousin/and her kid will be there. I am excited. I hope it's not as dissappointing as my brother's visit was.

Ellie, should we bring bathing suits to FOT?

I'd really like to know how she came to that conclusion, and if she thinks so little of her bil (dh) that he would marry an unbeliever?

You all probably know I rarely read the chat threads, but this month's title drew me in. I thought I'd add my 2¢ because my reaction was so totally different from everyone else...

narnia, are you sure that you have the right conclusion about her conclusion? I thought your post sounded like she believes you are... um, a bit 'overboard' when it comes to things religious, and so is trying to send you religous sites thinking that you will like them.

??? Maybe it wasn't a bumbling awkward attempt to connect with you, but it surely seems like she is either seeking or wanting something.

Thanks for the congrats.
I am so excited. We also have finally found a church after a year of looking. The church is so home school friendly there are like 10 families that home school. The associate pastor and his family home school. They are like us its funny. Same ages and same number of kids. My mom is still giving me trouble about hsing. I finally decided not to tell her anything she absolutely doesn't need to know. Shiannah whose b-day is in 8 days and she is gonna be 11 is acting like a teenager already. She has been very trying the last few days and I said something to my mom she said if she is causing that much trouble now what will it be like when you have her home all the time.
I know its bad to have problems with your teenagers or preteens but at least I can read and it not feel like I am all alone in dealing with the attitudes.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Yay Homegrown! Just read the update about the insurance company continuing coverage for Noah's laser treatment.

Woot.

(Don't know where "woot" came from, but my teens say it in place of "awesome". )

Hey, thanks shadowspring. I am glad it pulled through because I didn't want to deal with the hassles of taking further action.

I just got done talking with the lady that heads of the home assist program. Found what that is. It almost seems like a public/private-homeschool. It is like a private school funded by public school, yet everyone is "individual" with the freedom to home school... yet, they are under the public school. Did you follow that?!?! Basically, if they register with the school, they get all their curriculum and field trips paid for and they can belong to a "homeschool group". But, since I was only interested in sports, and only needed to dual enroll to do that.... I can not be part of their group or their outings or get anything paid for. Seems silly in some ways. I am part of an independant homeschool group and I know there are some home assist homeschoolers that come to those activities. It is weird to me... but that is okay. Life is weird.

I am still worried about Noah's tooth. I wish it was Monday so that I could make an appointment for him. I had NO IDEA that nursing a baby could do the same thing as "bottle rot". I read that it isn't as common, but my heart breaks knowing that I am probably the one that caused it. The baby has enough things going on, I really didn't want to add this to his list!! He must be more prone than my other kids. They had bottles and once in a while went to bed with them....and their teeth are fine.

annie.....does the tooth look like a cavity, or is the tooth just a dark color on the surface? baby teeth esp can be easily damaged (from being hit) which can result in the tooth not getting good blood flow, then it turning dark in color. It's not a problem in baby teeth, and sometimes can lighten over time...in regular teeth though they would need to be seen to find out if the tooth is "dead" and if it needs to be taken out. Baby teeth however will eventually fall out on their own though, so nothing drastic is needed.

Homegrown, DO NOT feel guilty if your baby has problem teeth. It's mostly genetic. I have one child that's never had a cavity and another child that had three cavities on his first appointment and at least one ever since.

I brushed their teeth exactly the same when they were little. It's more an individual's natural tendency than anything.

Not that good dental hygiene is not important! I'm just trying to say you can do everything right and still have a cavity develop.

After looking at his tooth the best I could. It is hard to tell if it is decay, or if he chipped it. The side of his front top tooth is indendet, like part of it fell off and slightly discolored. Not gray or black, but more like a tanish color. Almost looks like a popcorn shell got stuck in his tooth, but not quite as dark. He also has it just a little bit on the other side, which makes me think it would be decay, not a chip. But... it is also very hard to look at a 17 mo. old's mouth It is up towards the gum line, so I have to lift his lip up to look at it and he doesn't like that. It could still be a damaged tooth.... Lord knows how many times he's fallen in the last few weeks!!

I just got a complement...

Struggling to accept it...

Ahhhhhhhhh!

LOL honestly- it was from a fella that I when to school with. You know back in Hicksville where everyone is your 4th cousin? Yeah he is my 4th cousin. He is now an English Lit teacher. He saw my FaceBook status RE: the boys actions yesterday and wrote to me asking what they had done- that he could use a good laugh. So in the few characters allowed on one's FaceBook "Wall" I replied.

he wrote back today:

quote:

Mary, are you aware that you are a marvelous writer? Everything you have written to me is publishable, this not the least so. Do you write? Have you published? And with all those kids and insects and your bizarre heritage (the one we share), you have plenty of inspiration for material. I am very serious. Just wonderful to read!

I know you all here have told me as much... But you all REALLY love me. My 4th cousin was a "pal" in school and I have not seen him in 20 years. Only reconnected through FB about 6 or 7 months ago. Now I find myself worrying that he will ask for some of my stuff to read! Oooo the RED PEN!

I graciously accepted his complement- it was hard though.

Perhaps you are right about the bible study sites, although I don't that for sure since she still has not answered my original question.

That still does not explain why she sent me the the invitation to salvation though. She does not send any explanations with the emails either-just the links.

Right now she is hiding by not answering my question and I will not give up until she does answer me. I have no idea how or why she came to the conclusion that I do not believe in Yeshua, and that is the crux of the matter.

Maybe she thinks the crux of the matter is "sola fide"- by faith alone.

Maybe she mistakenly believes that Messianic Jews believe the observing traditions is what saves, rather than faith in the sacrifice of the Messiah and His resurrection.

Could you send her a link about what Messianic Judaism is all about?

Dd was suppose to be home yesterday from Bible Camp. Her ride called me last night, told me that she was exhausted and was going to spend the night at her brothers house. This is 2 hours from here, she called around 3:30pm yesterday. I said that would be okay. She said that they would leave around 10am this morning and would be here early afternoon, around 1-2pm. Well... it is 3:30pm and she just now calls us to tell us that they JUST left. Not only that, I'm suppose to drive to another town and meet them so that I can pick up my Dd and another youth and bring him home... so that she can go camping with her parents instead of bringing the youth home. Another thing that gets me, is that this person wanted us to bring in an evangelist (she got us the phone number, practically made arrangments with this person). He will be here tomorrow and the next few days and she won't even be here anyways, she will be camping 45 min. from here instead..... I guess her word means nothing to me now. I just think it is rude practice when people plan things and don't show up, or don't finish the job they started, or be late and not tell someone until after the fact.

I have sent her links in the past, but like I stated before , she does not read them. When we visit them, once a year, we have invited them to come to a service but every year, for the past 5 years, they refuse.

quote:

Maybe she does, but I don't know that for sure. Since she has not yet told me what her concerns are, or why she thinks I need salvation, I am not even sure how to answer her. Once I know why she thinks the way she does, I can answer her. That would take her answering my question.

It does seem odd to me for her to send me an invitation to salvation, and then when I ask her why she thinks I need it, she has no answer.

How frustrating, Annie! I don't think I'd want that person to drive my child anywhere in the future.

I don't suppose any of you have a Singer Knitting machine for kids..it's pink. We have one...with no instructions, lol. And I can't find them online.

Well, I got a letter from the school district today. It said that they knew I homeschooled last year (that would be because I turned in my letter of intent) and so if I am homeschooling this year, they want my letter of intent, and to get that, I need to go to...yes, the same place I went last year. And these people get our tax money AND most people's kids?!

Sounds cute, Jen! I am curious though as to why you are sewing on a little kid's machine-did yours break?

Shadow,
I forgot to add that sil has never voiced any concerns about my beliefs before. Never a comment of "you're trying to earn salvation, you're rejecting Yeshua, etc..." Nothing at all.
