ORIGINAL: Kath Tracy?? How is it going? I imagine you've met him by now. ONE MORE HOUR!!!!!!! I am so excited and nervous. Actually, his flight leaves Chicago in an hour so we are going to leave when his flight leaves to give us time to get to the airport and parked and to his gate before he gets off of the plane. I am totally stressing right now.

ORIGINAL: csl7037 That is gratifying. I was thinking that when I started reading your story...I never see that guy get what he deserves - or what he should get before he slams into somebody! Really gripes me because that's what caused the accident that killed my mom - guy clipped her and ran her into someone else and never stopped. Oh my gosh! I am so sorry. We have been having a problem here with hit and run accidents. I think it happened like three times this summer that made news at least. One woman who witnessed one of the accidents was interviewd by the news channel I watch and she said that she went out and held the guys hand and asked if she could pray with him and he said yes. She prayed with him until he died. Too sad. But I am glad that she stood in front of that camera and told the entire city that they prayed together. Ok, so I still have to go school shopping for my student. He also wants and English name. But I think that once he meets people and sees the diversity of the cultures and different names he is going to hear, he may feel comfortable and confident enough with his given name.

Tracy, it's all so exciting! I think you're right about the name - you should encourage him to go by his real name - where's he from? Did you say and I missed it?

Ty just told me that they just got the test back on The Odessy and he got a 59 out of 60! Yes!!! Aryn just got a spelling and vocab test and a Social studies test on the election process back and she aced both of them! We have back to school night for Ty next Wednesday and for the younger 3 on the 11th. I really hate doing back to school night on my own, but Brian can't get the night off while he's taking this training class. We also are meeting with the speech pathologist and Zoe's teacher and whomever else is needed, on the 5th to discuss the evaluation she just completed and to figure out a plan of attack. And that's just a few things on the agenda over the next couple of weeks! I need to sit down with the calendar and make sure everything is accurate and times are right. Off to bed! Blessings, Garsy

It is late, but he brought us so many gifts that it was UNREAL. A beautiful table cloth and settings for it. Chopsticks of course. He gave me a scarf that is full of brown and orange and just fall colors. Tea. A shirt from the olympics for Jake and something for the girls, but I don't know what because they went to bed. It is 1am here. He is sweet and I am pretty sure that he is going to have girls chasing him pretty soon. He is pretty cute in a very boyish way. And he is kind of quiet, but you can tell he has a sense of humor from the e:mails he has sent. I am excited for this year and can't believe that this is actually happening. I never in a million years thought I would be having an exchange student in my home. WOW!

Tracy, I hope this is truly a good experience for you. I've seldom heard of anyone having a bad experience with an exchange student. He sounds like a nice young man. I hope your family has opportunities to witness to him or encourage him in his Christian walk, whichever the case may be. Kim, I'm glad the twins have done well so far. I'm so excited for Donna!! I wish the best for her family. They've had a grace-full journey. Hi, everyone! I've had a busy few weeks at the small college where I work. We've been getting ready for new students and greeting them and .... anyway, now it's back to "normal." I've been trying to keep up with everyone by reading a little each day. I've prayed and read and read and prayed, and now I've got a chance to pop in for a moment and say HI! Have a great weekend.

Thanks!!!!! He is here and we had a great day. We took a walk to the school and since the doors were open, we went in and met some teachers and staff and just looked around. It was nice because the school is new and I have never been in there. Tonight we had a fire on the deck that I worked so hard on. FINALLY!!!!! I have been dreaming of my fire night and it happened. we cooked hot dogs and s'mores over the fire. Now we have to still go shopping for school supplies, but I will get that done probably Monday or Tuesday.

Thanks Kath, it was great. All I have wanted for like the past 8 years was to just sit outside in my yard, my private yard, and be able to have a fire and just be a family and talk. And that is exactly what we did tonight. I am so happy. We are in love with our exchange student. We are calling him Sean because he wanted an English name. It is working out great, and he answers to it every time eventhough we just decided on it late last night. The girls are just all about him. Kayla just stares and giggles. Jake is interested, but has been keeping to himself. And get this. I was talking to my husband and asked what he thought of inviting my ex husband and his wife over when we have Sean's b-day party. He said no, but just today, Jake told me that his dad wanted to come and meet Sean. So here I wonder. Is this a God thing where we can maybe start to build the bridges, or is it just a trap to get me to lash out in anger over something and fall into exactly what Satan wants. I think that because I did think of it, and then Jake brought it to me later, that I should do it, but DH says no. We will see. If it is a way to open the doors, then it will happen no matter what I guess. But I do have to say that I am not comfortable inviting them to my house, but at the same time, this insanity with him to end.

Hey all! What a day! We didn't go to church this morning, but we were able to bless a neighbor by helping them clear some brush and tear down a garage sale they had this weekend. They then blessed us with two huge garbage bags and one laundry hamper full of clothing for the kids that didn't sell at the sale! Ty and Ethan go a lot of new shirts and sweat shirts. Ty got three practically new pairs of nice shorts that he can wear to school! Aryn got a few items too. There were even a few things that fit me and Brian. There was just one small grocery bag of things that we can use and I'm going to recycle that along with some things that I need to get rid of around here. Then Brian took the kids and a couple of friends swimming and gave me 4 hours of silence! I managed to get quite a bit of laundry done, but not much else. But that's okay! Blessings, Garsy

Garcy that was great!!!!! Today we took our exchange student to spiritual formation class, then to church. He fit right into the class, but said that he had a hard time keeping up. He also said he liked church but that next week, while we are in church, he is going to go to an ESL class that they offer during the service. I think that is just a great idea because while he is easy to talk to, he gets shy around others, and doesn't talk much so they think he just doesn't get it. Maybe this will build his confidence, and he will be able to actually understand what is going on in class and in church. Jake is feeling a bit neglected, but we had a long talk last night and I reminded him that while it may seem as if we are pouring all of our attention into this boy, he isn't being ignored. I am not sure if he got it or not, but they did say that this could happen and Jake also went into other things that were so unrelated to that. I just felt bad for him. The girls are just kind of treating their new brother like he has always been around and I think that is good. But Kayla does still stare at him and just giggle. Today was his birthday so we had a party for him. The family came and some kids from school along with a mom who had an exchange student from the same organization so he did get to meet a few people. We had a cookout and cake, then a fire and they ended up roasting marshmallows. It was very busy but he had a good time. Jake is already into his soccer season and the girls start up with dance and poms again next week. That is what I am dreading. The next 8 weeks are going to be so hectic, then when that is over, basketball will start and our exchange student will be playing and we have to do that all over. But I do hope he makes the team because I am kind of looking forward to going to games on Friday nights. It has been busy, but I think that when all is said and done, all of the kids are going to have a good year. I hope so at least.

Sounds like you had a nice time Tracy! I just got an e-mail from Ethan's Cub Master. Popcorn sales start 3 weeks from today. yikes!!!! good gracious! Well at least it will be done before basketball starts for my youngest two. Cub scout meets start on the 14th, girl scout meetings will be starting in the next couple of weeks and Ty has auditions for the school play coming in early October. Then that will be EVERY night until the play in late November. Yep I know exactly what you mean by hectic!! I'm just PRAYING that we can find someone that is willing to carpool a bit for play practice. This week it's back to school night for the high school on Wednesday. Someone from the PTC called last Friday to see if I could make it to a planning meeting for the enrichment after school classes. I have to get back to them because I forgot the date of that meeting. I think it's during the day tho and at the school. Blessings, Garsy
