Thanks, but I am a bit scared now that she said he isn't too diligant in his studies. I hope she is measuring by China standards and not ours because I know their highschools are way tougher than ours. I replied to her e:mail and sent her pics of us and then gave her my myspace address so maybe we will see if she responds back before he gets here this week.

I need to write a note to my son's teacher. He had to pick and define ten words out of two chapters of a book for an assignment. Ten words he didn't already know the definition of. So he had a lot of trouble since he already knew what most of the words meant. But he didn't feel like the teacher believed him about that.

See my children would have a difficult time with this as well. My kids are so well read that they've developed quite extensive vocabularies! What also helps is that when they come across a word in their reading or in everyday life that they don't know I don't just define it for them. I tell them to go look it up because that's why I keep dictionaries in the house!

We had a family reunion today with a branch of Brian's Mom's family. It was held only about 45 minutes south of us. We had completely forgotten about it til Saturday.

We were supposed to go to Ethan's cub scout troops Rain Gutter Regatta today, but there was just so much else going on. I dropped off some celery sticks at the meeting place and turned around and went home.

I got to go and get the kids to bed. It's getting late - They will be bears to get up in the morning if they are not in bed SOON!

Blessings,

Garsy

What year of HS is he Tracy? Do you know how his grades are at home? Maybe he'll be more diligent here than he is at home.

I am not sure how their system works so all I know is they are putting him in as a senior as of now. Next week we have an appointment with the guidance counselor and we will see because he is just 16 now and turning 17 on sept 1 so he may or may not even have been ready to graduate.

Sounds exciting, Tracey! I can't wait to hear more about your student and how things work with the family.

Okay all...here are a few pics from my party. It was really fun but because of the weather had a small turnout. That's okay though...it was still a blast.

Well...A blast from the past that is.

Tink, is that you in the pink tee with the striped over shirt? Since she is in most of them I assumed so. Looks like you were having a good time!

Yeah it was a good thing we remembered or having Brian's parents show up yesterday would have been a shock! They actually got into town and stayed at Brian's sisters Friday night.

I did take Aryn and Ethan clothes shopping yesterday. We went to Old Navy and got Ethan 3 pairs and Aryn 2 pairs of jeans for less then $50! Ethan's were $7 a pair and Aryn, because she's moved up to jr's sizes cost me $12. Still a great buy if you ask me! The original price on Aryn's jeans was I think $30 a pair! I bought her a few t-shirts at Kohl's too, but I have to return them and get slightly bigger sizes, I just didn't like the way they clung in all the WRONG places! And I didn't have her try them on at the store like I should have.

School pictures happen this week for the younger three. Ty had his done at registration but I didn't buy any of those. I did a really good picture of him this past summer so I'll make copies of that for the grandparents and other relatives. I hope I get the call to help out with picture day so I can get their photos for free again! But if I don't I likely won't order any and just do my own here at home.

Ethan and Zoe also have swimming this week for gym classes. 2 times a week for the next 3 or 4 weeks. Volunteering starts next week I think! I need to e-mail the kindergarten teachers and let them know what I plan on doing as far as literacy packs go.

I also have a meeting on Wednesday regarding Aryn's upcoming 5th grade camping trip.

Blessings,

Garsy

but it was a party! of course you have to get more dressed up than usual.

Garsy, you got some steal deals! I like Old Navy jeans for linz, they fit her well and there are some great sales. We usually order online.

I don't know if I said, but school pics for linz was the second day of school! She was freaking out and I don't blame her. She said quite a few of the teachers forgot to send home the order sheet.

And with Mike, this year the seniors have to use the school guy to take their pics for the yearbook. He is very unhappy. I guess the kids last year just didn't turn in their senior photos, so the school said this is what the are going to do. I won't order any though, we'll get pics from the studio.

Great pics tink!!!

I should totally be in bed but I can't sleep now. Oh well, that is me. I am so bored and ran out of places to post. How pathetic is that??? Anyway we went to my FIL's duplex to pick up the mattress and boxspring we were going to use for our exchange student, and it was so disguisting in there that we decided to go buy one new.

We had to call FIL and tell him the condition of the apartment and he was not pleased.

The only thing I don't like about Old Navy is their sizes seem to run super small and they make me feel super large.

Actually Brandy I think that was this weekend! I got Ethan's for $7 a pair and Aryn's for $12. Unless of course they are doing it again.

Blessings,

Garsy

Garsy, I just saw your last post. I'm glad you remembered the reunion; forgetting something like that sounds like something I would do.

I don't usually order school pics either; we took some of the kids this summer. Free would work though!

That's too bad about the pictures for the yearbook Kath. I wonder why they don't just use the school guy pics for those who don't turn in a different one.

I got my note to the teacher written and in the bookbag. I gave her my email; I think that'd be easier for her, but whatever she wants to do.

Thanks for the sale tip for Old Navy Brandy! Is it online too? I just realized Isabel was born on my mom's birthday; I wonder if I realized that once and then forgot?

I got a bunch of stuff last winter at Old Navy at their big clearance sale; some of it I'll get out soon.

Thanks for sharing the pics Tinkerbell! Looks like fun!

I'm sorry about the bed Tracy. I wonder how they figure out where the kids from other countries belong, since the school systems can be so different.

Dee

Garsy, that's weird because I saw the ad today on TV. I wondered for a minute but figured they couldn't run an ad that was over the day before...?

J brought his bike home today. It's definitely interesting. Because they were made out of leftover parts, it has a larger front wheel than back one. He says it's really good for doing wheelies on.

Really? I don't think I've noticed that...although I haven't been there since I moved up to "cow" size.

They do have transcripts, and sadly, most countries have tougher systems than we do so it is almost always a no brainer that the kids are going to be advanced. In my case, they are putting a kid who is now 16 but turns 17 the day before school starts into his senior year. I wish I could have done that, but my high school experience was different.

Makes sense Tracy.

I got an email earlier that the college algebra book was sent media mail instead of priority, so five dollars was refunded to me. I'd much rather have had the book sooner.

Me too Dee! Hubby has a book on order right now that he needs for his wednesday class that isn't here yet! He's getting seriously impatient! He had me check the post office three times today!

Zoe brought home a envelope from school today that I recognized right away. It was from the Special Services department wanting Zoe to have a speech evaluation. Apparently her teacher has noticed apparently that she is having trouble "articulating her r's" So having some experience in this area, (I went through 4 YEARS of speech therapy, took a couple courses in speech therapy in college, and Ethan went through speech therapy starting late in 2nd grade and through most of 3rd grade) I had her read to me. I noticed that she did have a slight problem especially when the ending sound was an r. I think I will get the evaluation done. I trust the speech pathologist to do a good evaluation as I've known her for many years.

Blessings,

Garsy

Garcy, Jake is still like that with his R sound. He is 12 but when I asked his teachers about it in the earlier grades, they told me not to worry.

I got a letter and some pics of the olympics from my exchange student today. I think this is going to work out fine. I was supposed to use a bed from my FIL, but due to unforseen circumstances, I had to go buy a new one today, but I did good. I took the sales flyer into the store, told him which set I wanted but that I didn't want to pay that much for it. The set was 279 and the frame was 50. I ended up getting everything for 274.56. See? All you have to do is ask.

Actually I told him that I bought my entire house from that store and I felt it would be ok if he asked his manager to just do that. He didn't fight me too much and it took all of 5 minutes. Now I just have to get it in the house.

Oh I'm pretty certain that it's just about reminding Zoe to talk like a 7 year old and not like a 3 year old. She is the baby of the family and sometimes she STILL acts like it!

Blessings,

Garsy
