I'm feeling blah! I've had a cold for about a week now (or really bad allergies, can't tell which) and now I have a cough to go with it. While the cough medicine I bought yesterday could taste better at least it's not bad. I also didn't wake up coughing during the night so it's a keeper. I've given it to the kids before but only used it once or twice myself.

I think I'm going to stop typing and reading posts and listen to Issues, Etc. while I doze on the couch.

Have a nice day, ladies.

Roberta,
I live about half an hour from where Martina lived before she got famous. There's a big ole sign on the highway.
Rick is always teasing me that if she ever shows up at our house and wants him to go to dinner with her then he's going LOL. I tease him back and let him know that he better watch out if Tim McGraw comes a'knockin.

Laughing about the Tim McGraw comment. I don't think Faith would allow that. LOL

Hi, y'all!!! Apparently I forgot to subscribe to this thread when I was here the other day...sorry. And I haven't had time to look around (I've stuck to my subscriptions) since I started back to work.

I've had in-service meetings all week. Things have been CrAzY busy!!! My employer has fed me nearly all week. I think we've cooked 2 or 3 meals this week. Last night they took us out to eat...tonight we had potluck (granted we did make Jello...or should I say my DH and DS made it?).

Boxes...well...I am slowly working my way through them. DH has been a HUGE help as he's been home all week with DS. Things will be looking better on Monday as a good majority of boxes left to be unpacked are boxes that need to go to my school. We cannot get into the building until Monday morning....as the building isn't quite finished yet. Even then...the kindergarteners (read my son) will be bussed to another local school for the majority of the day as their classrooms are not finished yet.

Beth, I hope you're feeling better soon! Do you think you'll need to go to the doctor to get over your cough/cold or will the OTC medicine work for you?

I'm with you there...this past week has been a haze...since moving, etc. There was one young lady at in-service meetings today that has been in town 36 hours. I can't even imagine (well, I kind of can)...but I'd been in town for about 72 hours before I went to work, LOL.

I'm doing well...wow....3 AM...that's LATE!!! We went to a local family place tonight...I think we'll be going there quite a bit. There is a big screen to play various video games on (a couple of them anyways). Kids can shoot hoops. People can play pool. There's even a tiny foosball table for the little ones....DS had fun at it. It was a good night....I guess they let people rent it out for various occasions (our school did)...so might be a good place for a family reunion

Wow, Memaw...that's pretty cool. I think the only "famous" people signs I have seen have to do with "this is the home of such and such an Olympian on the volleyball team"....LOL. Small towns will do ANYTHING to get people to stop (or at least slow down & gawk). C'mon...we have a scenic overlook just outside of town...and there really isn't a whole lot there. I think it may even look out over a feedlot.

I've not been in these chat threads in a while, so I don't know what's going on with everybody, but from what I've read, it sounds like you're all are doing okay.

I'm doing okay too, just getting tired and need to go to bed. I'll try to post some more about how things are going with me another night.

Goodnight, ladies!

We live a few suburbs away from an Australian tennis player who's played in worldwide events.

I hope everybody has a good weekend. We won't be going to church tomorrow. John has an extremely sore shoulder, and we don't have a car at the moment either. We were out getting an ultrasound/sonogram on John's shoulder yesterday and the car didn't make it home. It had to be towed.

I went to high school with Brad Pitt! He was a senior when I was a freshman but I graduated with his brother and had a PE class with his sister. I saw him one night where I worked. (Before anyone outside of Springfield had heard much of him.) I couldn't tell if it was him or his brother. I walked by him and when he didn't know who I was I figured it was him because his brother and I had known each other since 5th grade. LOL

I'm feeling a lot better. I'd decided if I didn't feel better by Monday I'd call the doctor. I couldn't have gone yesterday since he's teaching on Fridays. I had to buy more Zyrtec (no prescriptions needed over here) and I asked her (the pharmacist) if I should get something else. She asked how long I'd been taking it (about a week) and she said it takes about 10 days. So I must getting near the end of this.

We went to the water park today. It was overcast the whole time so the water was cold but the kids had a blast. I hope we can go back next weekend.

I'd better go. Have a nice day, ladies.

Trish, sorry to hear about the car. Have y'all figured out what is wrong with it yet?

Beth, hope you feel MUCH better soon. I think Zyrtec is OTC here as well...not sure. (((hugs)))

Ugh...door to door salesmen...or women. I get tired of them. We had someone just at the door trying to sell magazines. Um...no money....just moved from Cali...and with the new bank acct....no checks yet. So yeah...not going to work. Gotta admire them, but I just can't buy anything right now!!

We went to church this morning & it was good. The pastor preached about loving one another from 1 John verses 11-24. Stepped on my toes a bit...but all good preaching does. The "worship" service is a bit more traditional so DH is struggling with that some.

The pastor's kids sang a special called, "Jesus was a kid like me too" or something to that effect. It was neat! We're really liking the church :)

So.... is Brad Pitt his real name? That is pretty cool that you went to school with him like that! He's an annoying man, but still that is a cool story.

Faith (okay I can't remember if I can use your name here or not...) 36 hours is not much time at all. She must feel all dazed too.

Having a day off today so I have time to chat. It's show day here in Brissie (they have a really weird set up here - one part of the city has one day off and the rest of the city has another - dh says it's because one particular part of the city, the rest of the city doesn't want to be there when they are - he could be right).

X has a bit of a cough right now. I think all that cold air in Canberra got to her, and then the change in climate again coming back home...

We had friends visiting yesterday. They're going through some stuff in their marriage and she was asking my advice about it. The hard thing is that dh's and my situation isn't that much different to theirs. It's hard encouraging someone when you're in the middle of the same stuff sometimes. The best I could do was tell her that my plan was to trust in God and hold on tight for the ride.

Kylie

Nicole, you can use my name here....I do on occasion. LOL....

I think the young lady was totally dazed. After all...we've been here just over a week and I'm still in disbelief that I'm in Kansas.....

Kylie...ugh about sick kids...hope she gets to feeling better soon! That is hard to encourage someone when your marriage isn't much better. (((hugs)))

((((((((Kylie)))))))))) that would be hard knowing what to tell them...

Megan, when we moved it was just 3 hours away, but in a large city again. It took me about a month to get used to feeling like we lived here. It doesn't feel like our home though since we are moving again soon. I can't wait to settle down and have a home again!

Yes, we found out the problem with the car. It had been leaking water for a while now. It's not our car. A friend had loaned it to us as it was a spare car. We'd been telling him for over a month now that it was having problems. Today he called back and said that it had been cooked. He's going to take it to another repairer, but it will probably end up at the wreckers. He acknowledged that it should have been taken for repairs when we first mentioned the problems to him. So, it's back to praying for another car. All of our household are on pensions, and there's no way on earth we could afford a car.

I see the rheumatologist on Tuesday. (Tomorrow).

I'm in SW KS in the Dodge City area....

Today I am tired & not feeling that well. Not sure if it's jitters or if I'm having female problems (again). Anyway, guess I'd better get going. We have breakfast at the high school today & then I get into my classroom (finally...it will be open!)

I grew up in Liberal, used to hang out in Dodge (back in the '80s it was the "happenin place".)

I can't believe this is the middle of August.
Only supposed to get into the 70s with more rain.
Yesterday it rained all day and felt more like late September or October than it did summer.

My youngest granddaughter will be 3 on Tuesday.
The 16th of this month will mark my son being in prison 9 years....
Our youngest DD turns 16 this month as well.
Wow, just yesterday she was 2 yrs old and learning how to ride a tricycle.

Where did the time go?
