We folks from the coast are used to such "pedicures" every time we go into the Gulf or Atlantic or Pacific!

Oh, don't you just love it! After the surprise wears off, of course. I love it when the fishies kiss my feet.

I've had two pedicures in recent years and, except for the cost, I loved it! I usually do my own, but when the cuticles get too bad, sometimes it's just nice to have someone else do it. Plus, I'm starting to have some problems with a toenail, so a pedicure will save me from a lot of pain.

I have been thinking of getting a pedicure as a reward for reaching a weight loss milestone, but I don't know if I will.

Actually, I've been swimming in the Pacific many times over, and I have never had that happen.

I give myself mini-pedicures (and mini-manicures) every time I get out of the shower; it takes probably 2-3 minutes at the most (for both hands and feet).

I don't do it for anyone except myself . . . although I do think that well maintained feet (on either men or women) are physically attractive. For me, keeping my feet maintained is the same thing as brushing my teeth; it's both an appearance thing AND a hygiene thing.

I actually started giving myself mini-pedicures as a way of circumventing ingrown toenails . . . and I haven't had an ingrown toenail since (which has been well over a decade).

Neither have my heals become rough, cracked nor bled since I've started the mini pedicures.

I also like the way well-maintained feet feel to stand in, versus how it feels to stand in feet that haven't been maintained. For me, I could definitely tell the difference.

Would I shrink from a relationship with someone who didn't have well-maintained feet? That depends on several other factors that would need to be considered along with the lack of pedicures.

And btw, I don't consider keeping one's feet healthy and well-maintained to be a cosmetic issue or a "female-only" issue. For me, it has more to do with health and hygiene than it does cosmetics.

(Painting one's toenails, however . . . I do consider that to be of a cosmetic nature; but pedicures do not necessarily include toenails being polished . . . just like manicures do not necessarily include fingernails being polished).

So people not only judge me by the shoes that I wear but how I keep my feet also?

Yeah, keep the toenails clipped nice and the shoes clean or shined if they are the dress ones.

Oye, I just wear sneakers. I do not see the big deal about toenails at all.

LOL! Mike, you, yourself, did say, on the first page of this thead, that you found a woman's well-maintained feet and painted toenails to be attractive.

Take the painted toenails out of that equation, and there is still well maintained feet . . . which both genders have; feet are not just a "women's only" body part.

And "judging" isn't exactly what I would call it; but just as various people find various physical aspects about a person attractive or unattractive, some people will apply that thought process to a whether a person takes care of their feet or not . . . From that standpoint, I wouldn't give that too much thought . . . ask 50 different people what they find physically appealing and physically unappealing, and you'll most likely get at least 50 different responses.

But, again . . . taking care of one's feet isn't "just" a cosmetic or visual thing, it's a health thing; there are health benefits that one derives from maintaining their feet.

I really like getting a pedicure, I just wish I could afford to have it done every week! $20 a week doesn't sound bad at first but when you add it up, that's $80 per month and there are other thinks I can use that money on.

Like the gas to drive to the salon!!!

LOL!

Tammy the irony is pretty funny.

I've never had a salon manicure nor pedicure . . . and I'm one of those odd ducks, because I don't really care to have either of them done professionally.

Now I've never had one either, although I do hear that some men do. I am reminded of an old TV show Caroline in the City where the men go to a salon and end up getting pedicures.

Well the last time I treated myself and had one done, it was near closing time. So the guys that work there were having their feet done!! No polish of course but they were getting their nails trimmed and callouses removed.

Somehow I would think that it would be a gross job to be a pedicurist.

Probably the grossest feet are the ones who don't care and never get a pedicure! Excluding me, of course, I've never had a pedicure but I do take care of my feet!

That'd be mine, for the most part.

27 years ago (before getting married) I did pedicures, manicures, and hair. Many would come in for their first. Some did gardening before coming to see me. It would be annoying, but as part of our service we endured it and made every effort to make our clients feel special, relaxed, and walk out feeling like a gillion bucks.

A man with clean finger and toe nails is very attractive to me.

Well here is a take on this you have not heard yet. I am a published well paid managing manicurist of two states. I have been doing nails for almost 10years I am the highest Paid in my area. I LOVE TO DO PEDICURES it is the most rewarding thing my clients give to them selves. I do more then service my clients I educate them, on how to better take care of their feet. I have many different kinds that range from kids to the elderly and yes men. The children I do are mostly flower girls in a wedding just a soak and polish. My teens and early 20s get the step up, it takes about 30min. or so. From there, you can get full hours with me in a range of products. Men are included in this range. I will admit that not many men get them, I am in a very small area that is mostly farmers. A lot of men from this area think that they may be crossing the gender line by getting their feet done, however there wives would love to be able to talk them into it. The ones I do get in my chair have ALWAYS rebooked or come back. Personally, I think there is nothing more male ego stroking then a pretty little thing working on your feet. Further more, the elderly I service find me cheaper, better, and a lot more enjoyable then getting the same thing done at the doctors office. They happen to be my favorite clients to work on. Unlike the clients with the money that think it is a chore to keep up with everyone else. Or being a part of a gift to some one for a Christmas, or birthday present, and my favorite on "I am going to have a baby and I cant do it myself". These people need me. They cant reach them, themselves, they cant see well if they could reach, and they have the most issue. From ingrown, to nails that my crack in the wrong direction if cut incorrectly, to skin so delicate it could be very painful for a long time if they miss. I have done it all on feet. From the ages ranging from under 5yrs. old to over 85yrs., from the very basic trimed and no polish, to acrylic with 3D art work. I love my job, and since I am almost totally self taught, I consider it my greatest gift from God. Some one actually said on here that they should not be legal. I ask you this: If you took away my highest paying hour, how else would I have been able to support the 4 kids I have, in the house I own and restoring, and that NEW SUV I bought 2 years ago. No we do not eat balongna every night, we do get a nice vacation almost every year (we love Disney, and it is 5 states away), and the kids all have there own bedrooms. I put my self through nail school during my divorce. Thats right I am a single mom still today and this is my only job. I am in very high demand working more then 40 hours a week and still turning people away. Thank goodness there are 3 other people in our salon that do them too or I would never be able to keep up. It is my belief that every one (this includes you guys) should at least try getting one before they judging what it would be like to have one. And not one in a mall some where ither, go to a real salon. Spend a bit more, to get a lot more, I think you will be back for more. Kimberly

Well I gave this thread thought while I was at the beach this past week. Since the majority were wearing sandles/flip flops the week, I had the perfect opportunity to view a lot of toes!!! I can say, most of the women had painted toenails. The guys had their toenails trimmed, except for two different men. Even though the guys were neat and groomed in every other way, the effect of seeing those untrimmed toenails was

Last night I discoved my boss (#2)'s dog LOVES painted toenails. I was wondering why she kept trying to lick them. EWWWWWWW!!! I quickly learned to curl my toes under so she couldn't see them...
