I can agree with abolishing hot dog eating contests and poker, but not bowling.

Sadly, real wrestling is being abolished because of Title IX requests to ban boys from playing sports.

Don't like to share? Actually, my wife's HS now has a great women's wrestling team as well as the guys. And that is REAL wrestling and a real sport.

Man, if we can ban the NBA but not basketball I'll second what Collie said. :D

I would join in the Ban Pro Wrestling movement. Now college and sumo wrestling... that is sport. "WWwhatever" is a b-grade performance by stunt men and women.

No offense to stunt actors BTW. They work hard.

Ya know what, I think pro wrestlers deserve more respect than they get - not because it's a real sport or because their performances are oscar-worthy, but because it takes a lot of hard work to be that strong and to be able to safely pull off the various acrobatics that they do. I don't know about you, but I can't hold a 300lb guy above my head, while standing on the floor and throw him over the top rope and into the ring.

Start taking steroids with your breakfast and hitting the gym soon you will be able to.

Any female version of a male dominated sport. Sorry ladies... nothing personal. Otherwise, get rid of synchornized swimming, skeet shooting, or just about any other olympic sport. UGH!

I am wanting to go the opposite way on this...instead of banning, they should start maximizing some sports to their potential:

here are my demands:
1. Put sumo wrestlers in a cage (make them win by getting the other to submit)
2. Spelling Bees should involve the spelling right next to a beehive or something
3. Synchronized swimming should be done with piranhas in the pool
4. WWE wrestlers should be wrestling with their hands behind their backs
5. NBA should force their players to wear flip-flops instead of shoes

of course, if all of this were to happen, you can watch these sports on ESPN 8, the ocho

(please tell me someone out there got that joke)...

Boxing. Beating someone up isn't a sport in my opinion. I think it encourages violence.

The Olympics. All of it. Except for sports like basketball which can survive outside the context of The Olympics.

Not really, I don't see a need to do away with any sport. But if I had to pick one, this overhyped festival that has outlived its usefulness would be my choice. But if you like it, enjoy yourselves. You'll get all of it you want over the next two weeks.

Well, or "competitive" poker.

NASCAR should have speed bumps and slow moving robot cars to simulate city traffic. I would say just have the races on busy city streets but why should the general public be endangered?

Dodgeball!! LOL

But if I had the ability to do away with a sport it would have to golf. By far the most boring game ever. The game is so boring ou could hear the birds snoring out on the green. Maybe if it could be played like in Happy Gilmore the game could be more entertaining. However, I think Bob Barker may be too old to take that kind of beating.lol

Football

That's blasphemous. Football actually traces back to Biblical days when Jesus multiplied the fish and the bread. Since He couldn't reach all the multitude, He took a piece of bread and said, "go long!" - from that day forward, it was called a "Hail Mary".

Ever since, football has been modernized with angry men in tight pants and small helmets.

Brilliant. For each wrongly spelled word, someone gets dipped in a tub of honey.

I never thought of football in those terms. But for Giants in the super bowl ( and I am so glad it happened), it was a definate Hail Mary play. I still proudly wear my teams super bowl t-shirt.

Soccer! Then pro wrestling and those street fights that pose as some sort of kick boxing martial arts thing. After that, golf and most of the Olympic "sports."

As for NASCAR, they need to go back to the way it used to be (except for the safety features like roll cages, etc.). Do away with restrictor plates. If the car is supposed to be a Chevy, then it has to BE a Chevy. Limit the number of "teams" by an owner to two or three, max.

Ah, yes and then there's basketball! Down here on Tobacco Road, they recognize any other sport, but being from NY originally, I find the NBA totally awful. Abolish the slam dunk, the showboating, or abolish basketball.

Just my humble opinion.

Women's professional basketball. Sorry, there probably are some very skilled players in it, but overall the whole thing is dull.

Offshoots of football, such as arena football. Again, my apologies to the real fans in the world of those sports. I feel for the both of you.

Any sport where the decisions are made by judges. I admire things like gymnastics and ice skating, but don't like their systems of determining scores.

Mixed Martial Arts, aka Ultimate Fighting. It started with boxing, then came kick boxing, now it's MMA where just about anything goes. At the end of this road is the Roman Coliseum and the gladiators fighting to the death.

Will that be on Pay-Per-View????

"Professional" fishing.

Only in America would we take a peaceful, relaxing past time and turn it into a stressful, frantic competition.

We'll turn absolutely anything into a competition.

Peace
