Brandy ... I edited my above post once I read it was inside her mouth ... possible boil or spot from where she has been gnawing in her sleep or something like that?

she only has one perfect little round dot.
Now I don't wonder if she's a freak.
No picture.. she started wiggling and I don't want to ruin her nap. She had a horrible afternoon/evening last night with being extra tired and not falling asleep forever.. it was rough.

I'm with Sarah -- could it be a tooth? Maybe not a tooth popping through (or about to) but basically the tooth color below the surface/behind the surface? Do you know what I mean by that?
Let's say she's got some teeth in there that are just dormant right now. And they are there, sort of by the surface, but covered over with pink gums. Sometimes you might see some white through the pink part....signaling a tooth IS there and someday WILL pop up, but it's just pink over white for now and no big deal.
Does THAT make sense?

It's up towards the area where her gums meet her cheek.. not sure what its called. but it's not near where a tooth would come through unless it's coming out the side of her gums?
not painful at all jeanie. and not red either. just a white hard nodule.

Hunter had thrush when he was a baby, but it was all over his tongue, inside of his lips, and outside of his lips. The spots were not raised or hard either. If you are unsure of what it may be I would call the pediatrician and take her in so they can give you an exact diagnosis. I am sure it is something simple that can be taken care of easily.
Regarding whole milk - If there are no known allergies to dairy or milk in the family then I would assume it would be fine to give it to him before a year old. I started offering whole milk to Hunter around 11 months to help with the weaning process, but he wouldn't have anything to do with it until he was completely weaned. He still isn't a huge milk drinker.

Prudent, I have never seen those products you mentioned, thanks though because I am sure someone else can use that info.
I don't really know how to introduce dairy back into our diet because I read that there are different parts of cow's milk that people can be allergic to.
I am going to the shops again today (did my shopping yesterday) and get some stuff to make some dariy free snacks for Nath and some treats for me :)

In an infant, the main allergy is milk protein(casiens, whey). Lactose sensitivity is extremely rare in babies(like less then 2%) so it's not really going matter what you introduce.

oh, not that I am going to buy them just incase I have to go off wheat, but what ages do you give your kids things like cheerios?

Brandy I hope you can get into the doc soon to find out what it is.
Nath slept a little better last night, well much like the night before, it still took me 30 mins to get him to pass wind at 1.30am though. About to make some of the teething treats from the recipes I found for him.

Cheerios were one of the first things we gave Gabby, probably at like 6 or 7 months? We gave them to her to encourage the development of her "pincher" grasp.

I don't know, Gabby is a "chokey" baby so it's hard for me to judge. She really doesn't chew anything, so if it's to big to just swallow she gags. I think she finally figured out to suck on some things first, but it's taken awhile.

Nath chews on things, well gums them at the side I guess. He does gag once in a while.
I made the teething treats, using baby cereal, flour and juice, I think they taste gross and are mushy, but he sure enjoyed it! I will try one with a cooking oil added to it next time I think.

Yolanda - my doctor said we could introduce whole milk at 9 months if we wanted to (Akeelah was exclusively formula fed from 3 months on). We didn't do that, we waited until she was about 13 months (because formula had been on sale a few months earlier and we wanted to finish it!)
We had no problems switching Akeelah to whole milk, she still loves her milk. I'm hoping she doesn't end up lactose intolerance when she gets bigger.
We introduced cheerios around 6 months (maybe before, Akeelah started eating pureed food at 4.5 months, so cheerios possibly came before 6 months.)

I'm almost out of formula, it will be gone today, so I'll buy some milk I guess. He's 10 months now, so I feel ok about it. I'm pretty sure there's no allergies or anything, he's been eating yogurt for months now and cheese too.
Now, if I could get him to drink out of a sippy cup!
Nicole, we started giving chase baby biscuits and cheerios etc around 8 months.
Here's a little trick I've been doing lately...I puree bananas and add raspberries or just leave them plain, freeze them in ice cube trays. And I was thawing them and feeding them to him with a spoon, and I thought, why bother, he can eat them himself, so I just take the ice cubes and cut them into about 6 pieces and he picks them up himself and eats them. It's a great summer treat! (and healthier than popsicles!)

I remember talking to the public health nurse and she said that the formula I was using (and that I believe you are using...PC?), if she can handle that formula she shouldn't have a probem with whole milk.

What is the earliest you would start solids with a baby and what food would you try first?
David is not even 6 weeks old yet so I am NOT thinking about starting solids any time soon, I am just curious.

Our doctor told us that she recommends waiting until 6 months but she's not against 5 months. She said that with a smile, because she knows that I know that she started her oldest daughter at 3 months.
It's really about the signs your child is showing. I wouldn't have started any earlier than we did (4.5 months). We also stuck with rice cereal for a bit longer before starting the rest.

I started my ds at 3 months, but it was too early, and we would have done better to wait, as it upset his stomach. He did better on pureed unsweetened apple than he did on rice. I started my dd at 4-5 months, and it was totally fine.
