I just call him Heavenly Father.

quote:

ORIGINAL: McFatty

I pray to the Father in the name of and through His Son, Jesus Christ.

I have heard people pray in groups and they say "Father God" after and before every sentence, and sometimes even in the middle of a sentence. I thought that was strange. Anyone know where that came from?

Probably Rhema Bible School.

I call Him what He is to "me" --- Father.
And during the prayer I may use Lord, Father, etc.

Mosesman -> RE: How should we address God? (7/31/2008 6:01:07 PM)

I call him Lord, Father God, etc. It veries. But one thing stays constant, I always pray ing the name of Jesus.

Heavenly Father, and Father. I never use Father God, but I think it is more personal preference.

Maybe I am a bit more simplistic than most, but I have been known to start my prayers with "Hi dad". Maybe it's because I didn't have much of a dad, until I was about 13 yo. I like that simple way of saying hello to my Heavenly Father, and don't think that my brother Jesus minds too much either. Or maybe it's the big kid still left in my 36 yo body, that so wants to lay my head in his lap and have him tell me that everything is going to be okay. I don't know why, but it works for me.
