I think if I lived in a smaller community and was related to the bulk of my community, I'd read them regularly.

My Grandparents read them, and I think have for awhile.

It's interesting to read them and see the connections to teh various families. In Grand Rapids, I'm related to nearly everyone somehow.

Dear Christie,
I have read the obits, daily since Nursing School. I read the Funny papers first then the obits, then the front page and travel section

I knit and am attempting to learn chrochet

Sometimes I learn surprising things when I read an obit. For instance, I didn't know that Isaac Hayes was into Scientology.

Sure thing. YOu want me to email it to you? Or just read it in a prayer and have God deliver the message?

I hope, though, you'll beat me to the punch since you are significantly older than me.

Just stating the facts.

If I live to the same age as my granddad, you'll only be a mere 76 when I pass away.

If I live to teh same age as my grand-dad, I'll still be alive and kicking at 88, or 89 if I live as old as Gramma.

I'm not in my right mind now...

The fellow who built our house 50 years ago passed away this week. If I didn't read obits, I'd know nothing about the man except his name and that the men in the family are SHORT. (I bump my head going into the basement)

I've notice quite a few people 50 and under have died recently.

It makes me feel a little better knowing that I've lived past that dangerous age group.

I once rented a place that was built for a "height challenged" person... Didn't have a basement, but I had to get on my knees to use the kitchen counters.

I saw this on the obits at Yahoo today:

Former Kentucky Derby winner Genuine Risk, the only filly to finish in the top three in all three U.S. Triple Crown races, died on Monday aged 31.

That tells me two things: 1) We're a pretty strange society to include the death of a horse in the obits and 2) Being a lifelong vegetarian on gets a healthy horse just over 30 years. It's obvious that a little red meat in your diet has benefits!

I'm tired of missing funerals! I've missed two lately of pretty important individuals in my community!

I just bookmarked our local papers obit page and am committed to check it on a regular basis.

Blessings,

Garsy
