I am a lefty and had issues in high school when I wrote with erasable ink.

Because you smeared the ink? I always smeared my ink- and pencil-writing, until they came out with pens that dried faster. There are also some pens that will not write for me, because I am left-handed. Kind of odd.

Yes, because of that, the palm of my hand would rub over my just written text and smudge the page.

Yeah. That, for me, plus my forearm.

I am a lefty too. And I have that smear problem...And it hurts to write with pencils...

Well, actually I am ambidextrous with most things. I can write right handed if I have to because I broke my left arm and had to use my right arm to write...

My friend and I have this quote...and we probably aren't the first to have it, but "left handed people are the only ones to think in their right mind."

Have you been shopping in left-handed stores? What fun!

When I was in college, I used their notebooks -- what a relief. No more pain from my arm having to drape and move across the spirals. Later, when I moved to the West Coast from the Midwest, and I couldn't find them, I would just write on the "wrong side" of the paper, starting from the backs of the notebooks, so that the spirals would be to my right. One professor complained, and I played the "discrimination card," telling him that for him to demand that I write as a right-hander when I am a natural left-hander was discrimination. He never brought it up again.

Which brings up another thing for writing as a left-hander. Some of my college classes had seats with desks for righties and none for lefties. Those chairs shaped like G, that we sat inside the G and and the little tail part of the G was the desk. These were very uncomfortable for note-taking. I told them to either get me a left-handed desk, or I would require two desks, so that I could use the desk of the one I wasn't sitting in. This was especially necessary in biology, where we had to take notes -- and fast! I ended up with the two-desk idea.

By the way, all lefties should learn Hebrew -- much easier to write, and the books open on the correct side!!

Popsi, if you get into a good seminary, they'll teach you! Just make sure you take plenty of it -- for example, about three times as much Hebrew as K Greek. Many seminaries and many people in seminaries think they honor G-d by ignoring the Torah, Prophets, and Poetry, but that does not, in any way, honor Him. In order to understand the Apostolic Writings, one must have a good grasp on the earlier Scriptures.

You can start by learning how to write the Hebrew alphabet right from the Internet -- FREE! And you can start learning some Hebrew from the Internet, too. Just remember that there is biblical Hebrew and modern Hebrew, and remember to start all your writing from the right side of the pages at all times.

There are script, block, and book Hebrew. Concentrate on learning book Hebrew first, then learn to write the script. That is similar to learning to read common English words in print and learning to write them in script. Block is nice to learn, too, and it isn't that different from the other two.

You betcha, Popsi!!

Does anyone who is ambidextrous notice that their handwriting style (not its clarity, rigidity, or neatness) is different from the left to the right? I have heard this is so. Perhaps my forcing my right hand to write as my left hand writes is holding me back?

I suppose this may not seem important, but my favored hand, the left, has a healing injury, and I do not want to damage it further. Besides, writing with the left hand hurts right now!

I say, we ban writing and we type....hehehe...

Actually, I haven't written with my right hand in a while. As of late the only time I write with it is when I am bored of using my left hand. Sometimes writing with my right hand gives me a headache because of how much I have to concentrate...

I don't know if my handwriting style is the same or not...I think if I remember...it is similar...

Just in case,

Jesus knew me before I was born....He knew whether I was going to be right handed or left handed. :D

I am important and so is everone else!

Is that redeeming?

Thanks, Popsi.

Since the main Hebrew writings lessons are out of Texas, there's "y'all," transliterated into Hebrew without the vowel-points: éì
And here's Popsi without the vowel-points: ôôùé
Remember to read from right to left.

Harumph! My computer doesn't show them in Hebrew at all! Does yours?

Absolutely, but Popsi, we are going to get trouble. I have taken the thread off-subject.

I'm sorry, all!!

Actually, left handed movements are controlled by the right mind. The opposite is true for right handers.

Neeva! Bluntly, I am stunned that you would respond here with this question! I just got off your page, viewing your comics, and perhaps I could ask you what possible redeeming value your comics have.

Instead, I will respond to you this way: you have a real talent, and I hope you continue to develop it. I thoroughly enjoyed looking through many of your comics, and I no longer think of you as an individual completely void of humor. Thank you for letting me see your work!

I had the same problems ... but we started using the erasable ink pens in 4th grade, so from 4th-8th I had the worst looking notebooks ... lovely writing, horrible smudging! I was so glad when I got to high school and they told us erasable ink wasn't allowed ... regular ink and white-out (or a strike-through using a ruler) was the rule.

And to answer the OP ... yes, I like my handwriting ... I've always had small, tidy writing. My dd actually started learning cursive writing at age 5, and hers is rapidly improving (she's now 7) ...

But then there was my best friend in high school ... his handwriting (and printing) was so atrocious that the special needs department at the school bought him a laptop so he could type and print all of his notes and assignments so the teachers wouldn't have to take a special course in J's hieroglyphics!!

Welcome to the threads, Neeva_Candida.

This very thread is in "Community Lounge".

If you will click on the "Forums"link (at the top of any page; near the left corner), and scroll about midway down, to "General", and within "General", find "Community Lounge", you will see the following:

quote:

Community Lounge
Join in the general communication with wacky people from around the world.

The redeeming value in this thread is people being able to chat and shoot the breeze with other people.

Try it! You may find that you like it; that you might make a friend or two; and that you may learn some really interesting things (for instance, I personally have really been enjoying this thread and have learned a couple of things from it).

If chit-chat isn't your cup of tea, there are plenty of more pragmatic sections here: "Faith" and "Theology" probably being the main two; and between them, there's 12 different folders (with myriad threads in each folder) that are of a definite and more serious nature.

Hope you find your niche here in the threads.
Blessings,
Sharon-Marie

I apologize.

I've been responding to threads using the "Latest Threads" box found under the My Forums menu. When I almost responded to a Lady's Only thread I realized that this method was displaying threads from all over the board. I had been under the impression that I was responding to FaithWalk forum thread only.

My bad.
