Don't pay any attention to it! Concentrate on something else, such as calling up a friend on the phone. This will probably get your mind of your headache and soon you'll forget you even had one. Or of course, drink some hot tea, take a nap and get some rest!

I gather you haven't dealt with a migraine. Just sayin'

LOL!

Here's a link to oxygen therapy for migraines, along with some other suggestions for prevention and relief. As for one of the comments by OldHoosier at that site, I suggest that he keep up on fiber intake. Daily.[:D]

I also have been doing a little research into cold laser therapy for migraines. Just heard about this last night. Gonna talk to the doctor about it next time I see him.

I read that article and could see where oxygen would help. I had a horrible one last week. I haven't had them that bad in a long time. I've suffered with them since I was 8. For me magnesium has been the best help along with dietary changes.

The O2 has literally been a life saver for me. Lithium and Verapamil have helped in the past as a preventative, but lose their effectiveness after time.

I find rubbing a lil lavender or mint oil at the temple do the trick.

Also, drinking hot chocolate helps a lot unless you're allergic to chocolate.

What did the chiro say? Has his advice given you any relief?

ladybuglvr -> RE: Natural headache remedies (8/11/2008 8:49:25 PM)

I LOVE the chiropractor. he is a Christian man who prays while he works on me :) he said I have a balance problem that could be causing them. since I started going the pain has been less severe - no migraines :) - but I still suffer from daily pain. To help my balance and relieve headache pain he suggested lavender. I'm supposed to hold my right nostril closed and sniff through my left one.

I'm glad to hear you are getting some relief. I hope the treatments help you to eventually (sooner rather than later) be painfree.

Yeah, no doubt! Ben - my word - I can feel for you! I used to wake with them pretty often - there is nothing worse.

Acupressure has worked for me many times.

For migraines, there is a spot above your eyebrows. Run your finger just above your eyebrow, and you will find a tender spot. Hold firm pressure for several seconds, then continue to run your finger all the way to the end of your eyebrow area. Repeat several times.

For sinus headaches, there are two spots that have been helpful to me. One is the inner eye socket area near your nose. Rub in small circles for a few minutes. The other is at the base of your nostrils, on the outer edge. Rub in small circles for a few minutes.

For tension headaches, the base of your skull, halfway between your ears and your spine. Apply firm pressure, rubbing in small circles for a few minutes.

For general miscellaneous type headaches, rubbing circles on your temples is helpful.

Not advisable...chocolate is a common trigger for headache sufferers.

I agree that chocolate can trigger migraines, but it's often the cheap milk chocolate that does that.

Getting a really good quality dark chocolate (min 70%) is less likely to be a trigger.

Thank you wonderwomen for the pressure spots. I actually do the one between my ears and my spine. it works great. I've noticed my chiro spends alot of time there and it feels great. I wish he could do it every day for free. Ha! Ha!
