Please don't give up - there are many other countries in the world where race does not seem to be as much of an issue as it seems to be sometimes in the USA. There's a whole world out here, outside of America. Do some travelling, come and visit!

You know I am hispanic but I am light and I kinda know what you are saying. Plus my spanish is not very good. The older generation talks about loosing our roots and not knowing our culture because we dont speak the language but honestly I have never been to mexico. I live in the US. I know my background and I love it but I am first and foremost American. And as a christian I love all the beautiful colors that God has made for us.

They are fine. But due to the evil of the human heart, there is a chance interracial couples will have added difficulty in life. And of course the cultural differences will have to be bridged.

The Old Testament doesn't forbid it either, just marrying outside the group of believers (who were Jewish/Hebrew at that time). And, if you look at Christ's lineage, you will find at least two people who were not only not Hebrew, but were most likely dark-skinned. I have never understood why someone who reads their Bible would believe that it was wrong.

There are whites only this and that! just like Asian or black this and that. there aren't any "____ ONLY " signs, but all you need to do is enter certain places and the vibe/looks you get will be your sign...your sign to get out if you dont fit that race...

I was talking with some family last night about interracial relationships. I brought up that I (playfully) think that Adam and Eve were the first interracial couple. Because when you mix black and white, you can get every other shade in between!

(Obviously I have no scientific basis for this, but every time I say it, it makes me people stop and think about that one.)

I would be careful about this and would probably refrain from this. Scripturally speaking, the different races came into play at the Tower of Babel after God confused the languages. I would imagine Adam and Eve had a variety of children which eventually spreaded throughout the whole known world at that time. I know you playful in this, but as serious as race is some people really believe that just as much as they think that Jesus was black. Nevertheless, as much as justifying where races come from, all races can be traced back to Adam and Eve, even if they only point towards a certain lineage; all have been born from Adam.

I have to say that I DO have a preference for the type of man that I want to marry...he has to be...a CHRISTIAN. Skin color, eye color, hair texture, etc. should not be reasons for choosing a mate. That's very superficial and shallow.

I feel in my element. It's the fabric of my own life being interracial and multicultural. I am strongly looking for mix and matching and discoveries and fiding out what others are about. I love it all.

I sure dont have all ethinicities inside of me, But I do have strong preference for the ones I carry in me. I have many already, then is not a surprise for me to be attracted to whom is familiar in looks and cultural expression plus strong values in individuals.

I am a foreigner and immigrant for almost 20 years in the US. I dont have kids then my approach to the matter is not like a 1st or 2nd generations of individuals born in the land...I carry my country in me as I adopted US too. Still I feel divided and really kind of not belonging to anyone country fully...

As a Brasilian, I come from Brasil, I am not Hispanic or identify myself as Latina (others may "box me" as one, not me)...I am a Brasilian born from a very mixed family and cultures already..lol. As South American and not Hispanic I do identify more with Hispanic from South American countries more then Central or North..because of neighboorhood proximity..still, Brasil is a huge country in itself then although many struggles of Latin country looks similar each one a have their own histories,voices, uniqueness - and I do respect individual countries and peoples identities. I do tend to identify more with "Latin" countries with black heritages because of Brasilian strong Afro heritage. Because the region I come from Brasil is strongly black influenced and not much indigenous, to me, I do tend to reckon familiar the Afro mixed with South European first of all.I have my personal preferences as what and who attracts me naturaly.

In the US among US citizens I do tend to be drawn to blacks, as familiar to myself many times, much more then "Latinos". Much depends on the individuals, of course. I do have tendency to be drawn to Mediterranean more then "Latinos" while in "white countries" majority, as North Europeans too. Between speaking English and Spanish I do prefer English as my second language.

As a Christian I do embrace Nations naturaly, passionate about Peoples, cultures and very courious to know what each one have to say for themselves. I tend to be drawn to people who have the same drive as mine to embrace others. Its very much important to me the drive of mixing with others different of me and listen to. I am drawn to that.

I don't have a problem with interracial couples. I'm a dark-skinned Hispanic woman and I've always been attracted to white men. And I married a handsome red-haired, blue-eyed white guy!!! ;)

Do you understand possibly why a NASW might be started? I in the same field as you and out of 200+ employees and there are only a handfull; if that, of African Americans. I am open to date people outside my race, but no matter who I date, I have to have things in common with them!

Really? Where are you from??? Just at my job alone there are six interracial couples 5 with black men and white women, one with a white man, black woman.

Washington State, all my life, but not in the Seattle area.

I have been trying to count up, lol....well, maybe it's near even steven if you count the couple who lived next door to us when I was a teen, and the couple who met in Haiti when the wife went there on a missions trip, lol. And interestingly, one of my dear friends married a white man who had had a child with another black woman. I have no idea who he had also dated, so I don't know if that was any kind of pattern for him.

We are in SW Pennsylvania. In our church there are many intteracial couples. Quite a few of the black and mixed race women are married to or dating white men or biracial men. I'd say it's almost an even split.

Unfortunately it also seems to be a trend for many of the younger black women in our church to be having babies by white men without marrying them. [:'(]

I'm sorry; I was in error. The origin of the spread of different languages started here; races most likely came into play sometime after the fall after Adam and Eve had more children. I need to pay more attention to my posts next time; you are right about being careful about claiming what is scriptural and what is not; even as a Bible college student, I'm not immune to error. scottiezsister...I am going to date and marry the woman that God makes it clear I'm supposed to be with regardless of her race. I am attracted to Blacks but I am also attracted to women of other races. As I mentioned in a previous post, it's really a toss up at this point. I may end up marrying a Black woman and I may not. It doesn't mean I have some sort of self-hatred or hostility towards Black women if I ulitimately end up marrying outside of my race. As for the other Black men (who date outside their race), I can't speak for them...all I can do is speak for myself.

As for the NASW, I'm going to leave that one alone although I am tempted to comment because that's a whole other topic.

Thank you for clearly stating how I feel as well.

We absolutely cannot deduce motive in interracial, or uniracial marriages outside of LOVE.

Because the truth be told:

a) Some folks feel as DJChoir

b) Some folks have less than honorable feelings towards interracial marriage.

Unless and UNTIL the people in question directly state their position, one cannot accurately discern the difference.

I guess that is why I have a knee jerk reaction when a poster accuses their brothers and sisters in the Lord of being racist, or un-Christian. It may simply be preference.

Could be geographic - could also be that you only know black females who have particular issues about dating outside their race. And, in my experience, those black females often also have issues over black men dating outside their race, for historical (and sadly sometimes not so historical) reasons.

I just remembered that my friend who married a white man had a brother who married a white woman, lol. I wish I knew her other three brothers. The interesting thing was my friend and her husband lived in Mexico for quite some time. Now THAT is multi-cultural.[:D]

I do know black females who has reasons or issues as you want to call it about dating outside of their race...I am not about to get into...it a preference...wonder why people have problem in realizing that it is everyone's preference who they choose to date or marry...

My decendents were french/scotch Irish, my husband is Puerto Rican and we have been married for 19 and half years. So yes I am in agreement to interracial relationships.[:)]
