The same thing that happens at strawberry festivals, watermelon festivals or pork producers jamborees. They have fun and consume mustard in any form and on anything they can think of.
I am curious....mustard in any form? What kind of forms? I like mustard, and have not had the opportunity to explore other ways to consume mustard except by adding the powder or squeezing it on food.
When I say in any form, I mean, "Mustard of any imaginable flavor." There are mustards flavored with beer, wine and liquors of every type. Flavored with every herb, spice, fruit, and vegetable available. There are whole grain, course and smooth mustards, hot mustards, sweet mustards, mustards with nuts and honey, brown sugar, maple syrup. There are mustards made from different types of mustard seeds; yellow brown or black. The darker the seed the hotter the flavor. There mustards mixed for use on sandwiches, meats and even for use as dessert sauces. And there are mustards available from nearly every country on the planet. I'll admit that I'm a little weird where mustard is concerned.

Wow! That made my mouth water. I enjoy french fries with lots of mustard. Raw fish with Chinese mustard and shoyu, wonton soup with mustard sauce, yummy!

I love spicy mustard and Dijon Mustard. Sometimes I use too much, then my nose start burning and my eyes start crying. LOL. Still, it's soooo good. Yum yum.

I would love to go to a mustard festival! 
I have literally, at times, not had any food in the house; nothing in the freezer, pantry nor refrigerator; no grains, no butter, no meat, eggs, fruits, veggies, etc., etc., . . . except for various jars of mustard. ('Course, I don't eat mustard by itself . . . but I sure do like to buy it in different varieties). (edited: memory compels . . . there were also herbs and spices in the house; like mustard, I always have those on hand, as well).
As to the OP, back in June, I took an extended vacation, by myself, to Jackson, WY, and absolutely loved it. A couple of years ago, I took an extended vacation, by myself, to Sandpoint, ID and had a blast. I even won a grape-stomping contest at local winery in Sandpoint. 
As to holidays, I don't have a set pattern for how I spend them. Sometimes I spend them with friends; sometimes I spend them alone.
As to getting away for the weekend on a spur of the moment trip, if I drove, then, yes, I'd do that in a heartbeat. Since I don't drive, however, it makes spontaneity a bit more pricey than I'm willing to accept (not to mention much less spontaneous. LOL).
And, while, not exactly along the lines of the OP (but similar), the last 3 states I have moved to (over the past 14 years) . . . I have moved to each one of them by myself and not knowing anyone there before I moved there (with the exception of a client-turned-employer when I moved to Alabama back in '94).

So, WhiteRose, did you have any concerns about safety with your traveling alone? I've thought about traveling by myself, because there are tons of places I'd like to go, but I'm a little apprehensive about going as a single female. I'm afraid as a lone woman I might be perceived an easy target.

For the very vast majority of the time, no, I don't really have any concerns that are specific to traveling alone as a female. Frankly, I am more concerned about making my connecting flights when I only have 30 minutes and I have to run past almost 100 terminals to get to mine; I love those moving sidewalks (and also the escalators). LOL
Within the past 2 years, I have taken numerous flights and even a few bus trips. I have also slept in several motel rooms, a couple of cabins and even a bed-and-breakfast (which I highly recommend; that was really fun!)
There was one time, on a 12-hour bus trip, that I didn't feel the most comfortable, but that was due to some of the other passengers; not necessarily because I was traveling alone as a single woman. There was also a very late night taxi-drive that I didn't exactly relish, but that was because of the part of town that the taxi had to drive through from the bus station to get to the more decent motels (and in all probability, I will most likely try to never be in that type of situation again).
But the thing is . . . being a single woman, I could be perceived as an easy target anywhere; including the town where I live. I certainly have run into my share of, uhm, potentially dangerous people just while being out and about while running errands within a couple of miles from my house. There's really not a lesser or greater threat of danger based on where one is; that's often really just a misconception that people have; a false sense of security, so to speak, regarding where someone lives . . . which then often leads to a over-heightened sense of danger regarding unfamiliar places.
I do a lot of common-sense things to keep me safe (both when I'm traveling and when I'm not). I also listen to my instincts; and if they're telling me something about a situation isn't right or safe, then I take notice and respond accordingly.
Last December, during that 12-hour bus trip, there was a layover for about 3 hours. I went to the snack area, got a bottle of water and went to a table and sat down. A guy got up from his table, came over to mine, and asked me if I minded if he joined me. There was something about him that was literally making my skin crawl. So, I looked him in the eye and said, "Yes, I do mind." He looked a bit taken aback and asked me to repeat myself, so I did.
I don't put up with a lot of stuff like that; in fact, I have a zero tolerance for it.
As women and especially as Christian women, so many of us are often taught to be polite, etc., etc. There are actually situations in which we should be as firm and straightforward as possible. Our personal safety is definitely one of those situations.
Several years ago, I was riding public transportation in my hometown. There was a guy on the bus who started talking to me. He was a homeless person, and I had seen him around quite a bit. Being a bit naive about things, I thought it my Christian duty to befriend him. That turned into the biggest mess, with him telling me that he was in love with me; and then, when I didn't reciprocate, threatening to kill me. It's a lesson that was learned hard and not one I'll soon forget; it taught me a lot . . . the whole wise as serpents / innocent (or harmless) as doves paradox referenced in Matthew 10:16.
Which brings me to something else . . . anything can happen to anyone at anytime and anywhere. BUT . . . in the midst of that reality lies an even greater reality . . . that God is with me wherever I go; Abba, Jesus and His Holy Spirit. And THAT's where my comfort and guidance lies. 
It's a great big beautiful world out there! So many things to see. 
If that is of interest to someone, I truly would encourage them to do whatever they can to achieve that; traveling can be a wonderful, fun experience; and more likely than not, a person can meet some pretty interesting people.

I'm currently on vacation--solo. It's a lot of fun, and I'm safe. Nothing wrong at all with traveling alone.

I agree with y'all... traveling alone can be a lot of fun. I prefer to drive, so I can take a break whenever I like, linger wherever I like, take the backroads, chat with the locals, leave early, and basically do whatever I want (and of course, someone at home knows my route and I don't stray far from it, and my cell phone is always charged).
I have felt unsafe only once and that was when my son was about four and a tire blew on I-95 right in the middle of the trip. That'd never happened to me before, so I kept the car steady and pulled off to the side of the road. Since the spare was in the trunk, I pulled out all of my well-packed belongings to get to the spare. By this time, a trucker pulled over to help me. He was nice and helped me change the tire and find a place for new tires. He also pulled off to check the second tire for me, which was about to blow, too. He was great, but then at the end, well, I suppose he couldn't resist... he gave me his business card and the name of the hotel he would be staying at that night. I was nice and said thank you... and never called. Today, I'm much more adept at changing a tire, and even more adept at taking care of the tires (though nails still pierce occasionally).

Just a comment about women traveling, when staying at a hotel, register with only your first initial and last name only. That way they do not know that you are a woman traveling alone.

Or you can register the name of a friend who will be staying with you... theoretically. If I'm traveling alone, and heaven forbid something were to happen, I'd want a trail of where I'd been.

This is probably going to sound "girly" - LOL, but if I drove, I think I would rather invest in roadside service through any insurance I would have. 
But prudence also says that there's always the long stretches of highway with no one close enough to come out to help me in a timely manner . . . and since when I did drive those were my favorite types of roads to travel, the likelihood of needing to change a tire out in the middle of nowhere could very well be a possibility.
Oddly enough I don't remember ever having to deal with a flat or blown tire; whether I was zippin' around town or on a trip. I must have had an "tire angel." LOL

Wouldn't the fact that the credit or debit card in my name tell them that I was traveling alone?
Not necessarily, a lot of women who are married have their own cards.
