Sharing the Gospel is part of that, but however that is not our only job, our job is die to ourself more and more so we can become the vessel that we need to be for Christ to live through us. It is not about doing things for Christ, it is letting Christ do things through us.

Ditto.

It seems that some are reading a book that is different than the book I read. I'm not a rabid fan of Purpose Driven Life, but I am hard pressed to find that it's heretical.

I know our church does a Purpose Driven Life series once a year during the mid-week service. Right now I'm going through A Life God Rewards by Bruce Wilkinson which to me is similar in that it focuses you on your actions.

This post has me thinking! I really shun self-help books as a rule, because they are so shallow. I've only read one in my life that had a concept I hadn't thought of on my own. (And I won't tell you what it was!). It was not The Purpose-Driven Life. I had an intelligent friend who told me I MUST read it, and it would put my life on track. I got to about the 7th day and still hadn't come across anything that was less than a sure-fire sleeping pill at bed-time and put the book away. I never did get back to it, but I just might, if only to see how truly useless it is. I don't mean to be critical -- I just hate to hear criticism and not know all the sides of the issue.
