Ok so this has happened TWICE to me already and it sucks. So maybe you guys can explain? WHY after dating someone would you go after their best friend??? This has ruined of friendship of mine and Id rather it not happen again. Feedback please?

Simple. No sense of honor, no concern for (or even awareness of) others' feelings, focus exclusively on self. Standard operating procedure for most people today, sorry to say.

One would also want to know why you would want to hang on to such a man and also why you would want to stand in the way of a friend finding true love? In any case, dating is not a trap by which men are trapped for all time. The reality is you would still be angery if they went off with a complete stranger. If you truely loved others and Christ and were not self seeking, you would rejoice that you were instrumental in introducing them to each other for anything else would just be sin. So what if I date a beautiful woman and she marries my best friend. It is nothing. The thing is we have to be confident of who we are in Christ and lets face it as beautiful as Christ appears people still reject Him. 1 Cor 13:4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. My joy is not in that beautiful women love or accept me but that I am loved by Chirst. Truely Godly women are irrisistable.

True love hehe thats funny... Anyway.. I am obviously NOT involved with this guy anymore otherwise that would be cheating. And I would really not care if he went off with another girl. In fact he has. Sure I was upset but I felt betrayed when he went after my bestfriend. They knew each other before I met him so I didn''t introduce them lol I simply wanted to know what motivates guys to go after their ex girlfriend's bestfriend.

My thought is that you and your best friend probably have a lot of similarities. So the qualities that made him attracted to you to begin with, he may see in your friend as well so he decided to pursue her afterwards.

How long were you dating this guy before he "went after" your best friend? Are we talking a couple of dates, or long term? Also, if he knew you friend before, was there something between them that may have been unresolved?

My and his relationship was complicated.. we had a thing a few years ago when we would spend a lot of time together and he told me he cared about me.. and then it trickled off. And then in January he professed feelings for me and we started dating for a very short while. I pretty much kept the feelings Ive had for him when he broke it off and thats why it hurt so much when I found out about them. As for them having something between them before.. a pretty long time ago they did sort of.. like they would talk to each other online and talk about dating but it never happened.

Well with a prior history, then you should not be surprised that it did happen now. When young, people will date and break up, and date again. Basically, you don't really know what you need in a mate until you mature and learn from some mistakes.

Lets just say you go out with someone, and after a date or two you hang out with friends. Now the person you were dating, you are not so sure about, but you hit it off with one of her/his friends(since guys and girls do this), so you figure why spend more time on a relationship that may not work, when the I get a long great with the friend. If she/he is ok with it, so am I. Of course this purposely leaves out the feelings of the person getting dumped for the friend. Instead of talking about it, they go behind the back or whatever. So yeah it stinks. Does this answer why, maybe this will sum it up better, in this world, in this society, in this day and age, all I care about is me. Me, me, me, it is all about what I want, every second of every day. Sad isn't it. The better question is, what kind of a friend would try to go out with someone you were dating. That is just straight up low.
