Jennifer- miscarriages are so hard to deal with. So many just don't understand that they are so painful for the parents. I will be in prayer for your friend. I've had several miscarriages. I had an aunt that sent me a very nice card each time. It was nice to know that someone understood that I was hurting.

Several years ago, my brother and sil had several miscarriages between the two kids they finally have. It was so sad.
I feel so lazy. Other than breakfast, I've only been up for an hour today. My cold has been really bad.

Well, we're sunburned but glad we went to the water park yesterday. We made it to church as well and then Aunt came by with food for lunch with her friend. Then we smoked arguile on the terrace. Two Apples...Yum!
Tomorrow the kids are back at summer camp and I have my stretching class. I think my muscles might be up for it by then. Maybe. LOL

Hey everybody. I've read a little, but I'll have to come and catch up tomorrow after my cell/molecular exam...plus I think I'm either allergic to something or catching a cold... or something else. I was fine this morning though.  I'd typed this up but never posted it, so I thought I could go ahead.

I thought about asking this in the kicka thread, but it doesn't seem "heavy" enough. :)
I came across some local forums (on the website for the city's newspaper), and apparently someone had just found out that our university has a requirement that (almost) all majors be proficient in a foreign language... at least decently proficient. You have to take a four-semester sequence; so you'd start at (for example) Spanish 101, then 102, 201, 202. You may test out, but you have to still get those credits somehow in another area. Some just choose to take the lower levels for an easy A. Anyway, this certain person was saying the university is elitist (in a derogatory way) for being that way. Then I started thinking, although it's probably good for me to learn a foreign lang. in the long run, there are plenty of gen. ed. classes that plenty of places have that not many people want to take... but do because that's just one of those things you have to do to get your degree. No other four-year colleges near have the foreign language requirement like this... most have none unless it's absolutely needed in the major. We still have the rest of gen. ed. and core cirriculum which still is usually more than other places around. But I'm wondering why the language credit seems elitist (because it's foreign?) while our other "extras" aren't; this isn't the first time I've heard that sentiment. There's plenty extra that we have to do that makes no sense to me sometimes. We have many other everyone-has-to-take-this classes that other schools (around here) don't have in general education or elsewhere in their cirriculum. Do foreign languages give an impression of arrogance or "I'm better than you"? [Said that because people around who are familiar tend to think we're a school of snobs, but I think that's because a lot of students have wealthy parents (I don't), which leads people to think everyone is spoiled/stuck up here (I'm not)... and the tuition is high, but we're known for good academics... a "smart school" to most people, but from experience here as opposed to the other nearby universities, you have to either be genius or work very hard in order to stay not get put on probation. Maybe the language thing is making that idea worse.]
I chose to take Spanish all the way up. I think I could have tested out, but I wanted the easy A's. :) (I had taken it for a while in high school.) We can choose from Spanish, German, Latin, French, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Thai, Hindi, Japanese, Portuguese, Russian, and Swahili...maybe some more that I'm not remembering. :)

learning a foreign language in school does not make you an elitist
In fact learning a language in school does NOT make you fluent in the language, due to the slang and regional dialects of the country. I took the spanish class up to the level that you would start to major in it and there is no way you can just walk into a conversation in spanish and be fluent without a lot of exposure to it.
If you learned mexican spanish you wouldn't know automatically how to speak castilian spanish (Spain).
Elitist would be someone that speaks multiple languages and does nothing but travel the world.

I think a foreign language requirement is one of the BEST ones for a school to have. I have a friend who was able to take sign language to fill her requirement. At least you have more potential for using it than some of the other classes I took for gen ed requirements. Some of the classes I took on my way to a major in elementary and special ed include: music theory, philosophy, Russian literature, French, and chemistry.  Granted, I knew about them when I enrolled (the joys of a liberal arts education), so its not like they were being sprung on anyone.

Ouch to sunburn lol
Tam- thats a lot to choose from lol anyways most colleges around here make you take languages and alot work places like people who can speak other languages
when I was in school I had teacher teach us about the slang because she had actually lived over in different countries for awhile so it was interesting lol
D- is doing better then most people expect after loosing a baby she has a wonderful hubby and very supportive family and loving church family and I know she will appericate your prayers
I had interesting weekend, with feeling bad most of weekend but during some parts of day not feel so bad just kinda weak I decided to go look at houses anyways and It was so much fun. but I want ramble on here... Just check my blog out later

you just can't please everyone. It sounds like that Burger King commercial where someone thinks a person is elite because of the burger they are munching on.
Whoever came up with that ad campaign should be reprogramed.

Just another day of packing here & laundry. In 15 days, we're headed to Kansas....may time go fast & may I get things packed quickly. The only thing with that is I begin in-service meetings on the 4th (which is just under 3 weeks away). YIKES! Where did the summer go?

I had a wonderful night last night my sweetie came over and he asked me to open up his laptop case and help him set up and so when I did their was green shoulder bag/ backpack and inside it was a women's bible it was blue and green and on bottom had my name on it ...I had never had one with my name on it so that was neat.
and he said he got a new one as well the men's study bible, thats like my womens lol

I'm doing pretty good. I had a GYN appt. yesterday and now I'm trying to make some decisions. I was kinda floored at the appt. though. Several times they asked me if I needed condoms before I left the office. I kept telling them that I am a Christian woman who is abstinent. I kept getting "Are you sure you don't need condoms?" or "Are you sure you're not having sex?" I think I would know the answer to both of those without having to think about it!!
LADIES BEWARE!! This site is dangerous! LOL! I injured my leg and foot yesterday while posting here! I had my foot on a shelf and suddenly felt a pain behind my knee. It was a sharp pain and my reaction was to straighten and stiffen my leg, which pushed my foot harder into the shelf. It happened so fast and suddenly that I injured my foot on the shelf! It hurt so bad I could hardly walk on it last night. It throbbed throughout the night. I woke up this morning and the pain was gone. It's come back a little bit, but not like it was last night.

Roberta, sounds like you need to pray for protection when you come on here. LOL! I hope you can rest your injury today.
Jennifer, I was going to go to the gym today but didn't end up going. I had an asthma attack early this morning, and then when I was trying to read a letter aloud before I was due to leave, I couldn't breathe. If reading a letter aloud was making me breathless, I didn't think it a good idea to do a workout.
Has anybody seen Nicole (RIR) around? I wonder how's she's doing with her new job and her family. I can't believe her dd is 3 months old already.

Yeah, I'm trying to enjoy every minute of her non-mobility before it kicks into high gear.
The other two kids are doing really good too. Rae loves to feed Mary. She will make the bottle, feed her and even burp her on her own. Rae even will pick her up and bring her to me. She is such an awesome big sister. Zach really doesn't care much. He will play with her, or wip her face if she spits up. They always fight over who is going to sit by her in the car and at church. So we have to rotate and take turns.
Zach and Rae are also taking swimming lessons. So far they are really enjoying them. I am happy about that. Last year they were not so happy about going under water. I think this time they are getting hang of it better.
Oh! And we will be having our own restraunt soon!!! Ryan has a meeting with the owners next week and he is going to show them his menu and they will start hashing out all the details. We can't wait!!!

That's so awesome about the restaurant, Nicole! I hope the meeting goes well. I'm glad Rae and Zach are getting on so well with Mary too. When the restaurant opens, will you stop working at the optometrists and work with your dh instead?
