OK....sorry if this is TMI. However, I just today got my period, 8 days early! Why do I need help you ask? It's simple, if I NOW count out my cycle, I'll be getting my period on August 23rd. Yup, that is my wedding day! I do not want to be on my period on my wedding night!!!!!!!!!! I am not going on BCP's, so using them is not an option. What can I do so that we are not having to wait until mid honeymoon before we can have sex? ....and, before you send me off to TMB, I only want womens advice and since there is not an option there for that....I thought this would be the best place to post. Oh...and sex while I'm on my period is not a good idea either. Tampons increase the amonut of already bad cramping I have, so I can't imagine what having sex would be like on my period.

Thing is, I think you could just go on it for a few weeks NOW, before your wedding day, to delay your period, and then come off it.

Well, I have endometriosis and I have had several docs in the past give me pills in order to help manage the endo. They tried me on 6 different kinds over a two year period and I had some pretty bad reactions to all of them. Granted, it was 10ish years ago, but I'm just not wanting to put my body through all that again, especially when I have a wedding dress to fit into.

What about just progesterone cream? Usually it's the estrogen that people react badly too, so a prog. cream might not bother you.

Nope. You can buy it in the menopause section of Walmart or GNC with the vitamins. Use 1-2 teaspoons per day rubbed into your breasts or inner thigh starting when you ovulate until when you are ready for a period.

Well I'm not giving you a money back guarantee or anything but it should work, what do you have to lose? When you ovulate your body produces progesterone to signal the uterine lining not to shed so that a zygote can implant, the drop in progesterone when you don't get pregnant is what causes your period to start.

From NetDoctorUK: quote:
One method is to start taking the oral contraceptive pill, provided there are no reasons why you should not take it. You should really start at least one cycle before the one you want to miss. What you do is at the end of the first pack, instead of stopping and having a period, you just carry on, and stop when you get back from holiday. You don't need to complete the second pack. Another method that can be used, and may be best in your case, is to take a progestogen such as norethisterone up to a week or ten days before the period that you want to postpone is due (but the earlier the better). This needs to be taken three times a day continuously until after you return from holiday, and can then be stopped. A period usually follows about 48 hours later. This method can also be used if for medical or other reasons the contraceptive pill is not suitable.

Sharon, I can't suggest anything except that you speak with your doctor (or gynaecologist) about the options you have. If your doctor knows you, you may be able to speak with them about this over the phone instead of having to go in for an appointment. I hope you are able to sort something out though.

eh.....I guess perhaps it is time for me to find a doc out here anyhow. I have been dreading it since I never have good luck finding a doc that really wants to listen to me and had a good understanding of the endo thing.

Finding a doctor isn't always easy, especially when we have an existing medical conditions. Ask around among your female friends to see if they can suggest a good doctor (you can work on them understanding endo later!) to deal with this situation.

LOL...I don't have anyone here that I would consider a "friend" that I would ask that of. There is sooooooo much going on in the next two months, I'm just gonna wait until after the wedding to start looking for a doc. Not to mention, my insurance will change and who knows if I would be able to keep a doc. This whole thing is so frustrating and my being all hormonal and stuff from Aunt Flo is not helping. I think I'm just gonna leave the thread for a few days and come back when I'm not all crazy and emotional. And I guess I'll tell my FH of the possible pending disappointment on the wedding night and buy some of that cream and try it next month. Like Ryanne said, it can't hurt to try. Now...I just need to figure out when I ovulate. Sheesh, this stuff just never ends!

basically, I would wait and see if your possible period date changes between now and then. Unless you are extremely regular then there is that chance... stress tends to do things to your body, including timing of your period. Basically if you don't want to take anything, I'd just be prepared to deal with it. It may not be your ideal, but I'm sure it's happened to plenty of other women out there, and you just need to be ready to deal with it. You have some time to come to terms with it. You can try the progesterone cream, but like Ryanne said, there's no guarantee.

I second Aga, I would find a doctor. What have you got to lose with a doctor? You may find a brilliant one first up. And its not like you need to say to people "I have endo can you recommend a good doctor". All females know what it is like to have a bad one, so just ask "I need to see a doctor, who you recommend?" I think for something as important as this, and knowing how much you don't want to get pregnant I would seek medical advice.

If your period was 8 days early this month, it may not be ontime next month. I know when I am really late or early one month, the next month it seems to even out. Why would you be waiting that long to be able to have sex. You could use condoms & the "effects" of sex are supposed to be really good for cramps. I can't the first 2 days though. After that, no problems. And in reality, maybe it is a good thing. You guys can focus on other things that first night.

Yeah it would, but you can make the best of it! :) I started 2 days before my wedding. It was supposed to start on Tuesday and I got married on Saturday, but it was 2 days late and then the worst period I had had in a long time! I had so much PMS. :( But the good side was, almost our whole honeymoon I did not have to worry about condoms. :) Only for like the last 2 days. So there is a sunny side to everything.

Yep, you could do other things :) , but some people don't like to have sex during their periods. Its all personal choice though

Depending on where in the cycle it fell, for some women, it's just way to heavy/messy to be enjoyable. That would certainly not be what I would have wanted my first time with my new husband to be like! I agree with Ryanne, try the progesterone cream. I have used it several times to postpone my period for up to a full week and it's always worked for me. It's also made me much more regular and my cramping significantly more tolerable. I swear by it. I would talk to a doctor about how best to apply it though, or do some research. Many are now saying that it's best not to rub it into the fatty areas of the body(breast, tummy, thighs, etc), because it's then stored into the fat instead of getting into the blood stream as efficiently. It's not dangerous to use it that way, just less efficient. My doctor(who uses it herself)said to rub it into the backs of my knees, the fronts of my legs, upper chest and neck...places the skin is thinner and fatty tissue isn't as heavy. It's been great for me.

Try the cream and buy Instead Menstrual Cups. Get some now so you can try them on this period. You can still have sex with an Instead Cup in place. I bought them for the first time a day before my wedding. I use them all the time now.
