I also hate when people will use one word twice in a row which thereby changes the whole meaning. Women are particularly prone to this. Take for example:

"She went on a date, but it wasn't a date date."

"I am going shopping, but I'm not going shopping shopping."

Yuck. Yuck. Yuck.

Sorry, techne, but I sure hope you were joking here! If so, well done. If not, I apologize but you made me giggle a little.

I also hate it when people misuse apostrophes.

i was. irregardless, the use and abuse of punctuation is no laughing matter. i once took an english honours seminar course (the mystery of the book - an examination of book culture) and my professor stated at the start of the course that if anyone used an apostrophe incorrectly, they would fail the course. period.

scary.

(and i did complete the course - and my degree)

So in otherwords, to totally irk you, all I have to do is:

"Ross is here." She said. "I hear hes with Bobs sister, Ruth." Margie answered. "Why is she here"? She asked?

tee hee. Sorry, couldn't resist.

and why doesn't anyone seem to know how to use semi-colons and/ or colons anymore?

I remember one time, I saw a picture on a Japanese BB of a guy holding up a sign that said:

Ninja's have killed my family.

I longed to jump on a plane, fly to Japan, find this guy and CHANGE HIS FREAKING SIGN!!!! IT'S NOT NINJA'S, IT'S NINJA, NINJA, NINJA!! THERE IS NO FREAKING NINJA'S HAVE KILLED . . . Sigh. I'm ok, I'm back now. I took a trip, but I'm back. :)
