This is a place to discuss goals, help motivate each other, share ideas and share your accomplishments in regards to losing weight.

No amount of weight you have to lose is too small, and no amount is too big. I don't care if numbers are thrown around about how much you want/need to lose or how much you currently weigh or what your goal weight is, but please keep all responses loving.
(For example, someone trying to lose 50+ lbs may scoff at the woman struggling to lose 10 lbs. I have seen this and been on the target end of this before. So lets just remember up front that your *healthy* weight loss goal cannot be too small and it cannot be too big.)

Whew, k. Got that out of the way

So here are some questions:

What is your ultimate goal for your body?

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one?

Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by?

If you aren't able to start working out now (pregnant mommas!! ) when do you intend to start reaching your goal?

Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself?

Let me know if you think of other good questions that would benefit us all to read the responses!

I currently need/want to lose about 85 pounds.

quote:

What is your ultimate goal for your body?

I want to be confident again. I don't want to feel like everyone's looking at "the fat chick". I really, really, really want to be able to get out and play tag with my boys!

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one?

I'm learning to eat healthy. I'm using a lot of the tools on SparkPeople to help me get there. I'm Mommakat77 there if you want to look me up.

As soon as possible

My goal is to lose 1.5 pounds a week. I have a spreadsheet set up to track it. I love seeing a chart that's showing my work!

Overall health

Clean eating and exercise

It is an ongoing process. I don't want to put a time limit on it because then it would feel more like a diet instead of a lifestyle change.

I have been working out during my lunch hour.

Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself?

Not really. I should think about that

I think this will be a good place to post my workouts.

Today I used used Cardio Coach Volume 7 on the elliptical machine for 35 minutes and had a nice 5 minute relaxing stretch. Tonight I will probably get more exercise in during VBS recreation time.

Ultimate goal would be to have a strong, toned body. Not muscular looking tho

I don't know what I will specifically do, but I do have a vague idea of what I'll do.

No/

I haven't been able to maintain any level of exercise because of complications with the pregnancy. I am going to follow my bodies cues as to when I'll start. But within a few weeks of the baby being born I plan to start walking and doing stomach crunches or the plank. I have asked Paul to stay on top of asking me how I am doing in that respect, because I KNOW it will be easy for me to make excuses to not be doing anything right after having the baby.

I haven't set any up yet.

I cook lots of Chinese food and since I am overweight; I use soy sauce and would like to cut it out of my Chinese cooking since it contains lots of salt which results in me either gaining more weight or not losing those extra pounds I need to lose.

How can I do that without compromising the taste??? Any tips?

Where do you buy it from? If from grocery, which section, aisle? Is it available in Canada?

Thanks Ryanne!

What is your ultimate goal for your body?

To be healthy. That's most important to me. Weight loss is just a bonus. I recently found out my cholesterol is 212! I'm only 26 yrs old... . I have got to do something now.

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one?
lifestyle changes. More excercise. Simple, small changes that I'm hoping will add up to big benefits

Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by?
when my man gets home from Iraq. That gives me 14 months to wow him with a sexy mama when he gets back!

If you aren't able to start working out now (pregnant mommas!! ) when do you intend to start reaching your goal?
NOW
Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself?
several. First is to stop eating out. Maybe once a month.
second is to stop snacking on bad foods. I did quit quite a while ago, but since Justin's been gone, I've been battling emotional eating...
I have more, but that's all for now

Sandy

To be a strong, sexy mama and wife. To hike a 14'er, run another 10k, and maybe do a triathlon/team triathlon.

I am starting the Couch 2 5K program this week or next, and I'll do some basic weight training as well to develop my core again.

My goal right now is to be completely back to my pre-preg weight by Gabby's first birthday in August.

I have a couple, my first one is to solidly drop below 160lbs. I have done it, but my weight tends to fluctuate and I want it to read below that number for a week or two before I check it off my list. My goal after that is to run solidly for 20minutes without walking.

My husband would like me to lose weight. He doesn't make a big deal about it, but I know it would make him happy if I did. I haven't tried nearly as hard as I should because he is overweight, too, and I think part of me thinks "why should I lose weight if he won't?" I know that's a bad attitude to have and I need to get over it

What is your ultimate goal for your body?
To be healthier. I have asthma and the extra weight doesn't help that any. I will never be skinny, but there's no reason for me to weight as much as I do. I eat too much junk and not enough nutritious foods, plain and simple.

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one?
I need to eat less sweets and stop eating when I'm full. You'd think that wouldn't be as hard as I make it

Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by?
Not really.

If you aren't able to start working out now (pregnant mommas!! ) when do you intend to start reaching your goal?
I'm 3 months pregnant and I'm trying to eat healthier than I used to for the baby's sake as much as my own. I also want to try to exercise some this summer when school is out. I took belly dance lessons for about a year and I need to start practicing again. I'm pretty limited on what I can do, physically, because my asthma is so bad, but there are still things I can do and I can't use the asthma as an excuse forever

Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself?
Right now, being pregnant, I just want to make sure that I gain baby-weight and not cookie-weight After the baby is born, we'll see how things stand.

What is your ultimate goal for your body? Be Healthy and Get in shape. Where I can be more active, and do things with my fiance... and some day our future kids.

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one? Both... I sorta have a plan at the moment but I always look for better ones...

Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by? well I would like to get in shape and loose some and look like I used to... I want to look good for my wedding too ^_-

Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself? Yes I guess you could say that... every step i take with exercise seems to be a mini goal... like for an example...I started out with doing 30min of walking and then to 30 mins of running/walking.... one day I want to be able to run... for 20mins or so.
--> trying to eat healthy thats another one..... and cut back on sweets and soda.

This will be fun! I'll answer the questions and then tell the story of my crazy 6 year journey...so bear with me...

Ultimately - this. Or this. That's the same person - and it's not me! She's a neat lady who's posted a lot of advice and articles on a couple sites I like. I'm currently doing one of her workout programs.

quote:

Do you have a plan to get there, or are you looking for one?

Like I said, I'm doing this workout program and carb cycling. I'm fluctuating between 1300-1700 calories with 188g proten, 32g fat, and 65g-165g carbs/day. I could give the gory details if anyone is interested. I'm also a big nerd who makes charts and lists.

quote:

Do you have a time line you're working in to be 'in shape' by?

We host an annual 4th of July party. My dh is working with a big bodybuilder friend of his to get ready for this party. So I'm working my booty off with that date in mind myself. I really need to lose another inch or two at my belly. If/when I can do that, everything else falls into place so that's my focus. I rarely weigh myself.

quote:

If you aren't able to start working out now (pregnant mommas!! ) when do you intend to start reaching your goal?

Been there, done that. I wasn't real fitness minded when I was pregnant though - I just got FAT. My reality check was when ds was about a year old.

quote:

Do you have mini-goals set up along the way for yourself?

Just 4th of July.

...I've been at this a while and I've taken it in baby steps. I hated working out. Never was much of an issue for me until I had two kids 15 months apart and got up to about 160 (I'm short and small boned; most of the women in my family are about 95lbs.). My friend dragged me to the gym and I got hooked! It was my only social outlet being home with a toddler and a baby at the time. But I was still a piggy piggy. Finally went on WW and did great! I lost about 30 pounds but learned how to eat 19 pts/day and it all be junk food. I got stuck. I was thinner but not much healthier. I finally got onto Body for Life and broke through and got down to low 120s. I even taught myself to eat broccoli! When I was on WW I used to give myself an extra point every time I ate broccoli!! It was hard to maintain, though. Maintenance, IMO, is harder than losing!! I've bounced around there for a few years, learning more and more and getting more and more serious about fitness and my health in baby steps.

I'm now a group fitness (step, yoga, etc) instructor. I'd love to become a personal trainer but haven't taken the time to get the credentials. If anyone is to the point of wanting to really commit and take it to the next level, I'd be happy to crunch numbers with you and help make a plan. I love to help and encourage people but I think it's a process for everyone. You can't jump in at Bodybuilder Plan A - unless you've got a truly overboard personality. Baby steps sometimes get you there like a tortoise rather than a hare - the hare too often just gains the weight back anyway!

Yikes! I know that is attractive to some men but I don't think it would work for DH, lol. Working in a gym I saw several women with that build, but I think I prefer something more feminine. Actually, having been a runner for so long I know what I would like to achieve, it's just a matter of doing so.

Yea, dh would actually prefer about a notch below that too. I think it's just impressive! I'd like to attain that I have no illusions about being able to maintain that, though. She really doesn't maintain that all the time either, that's really the in-season competition look.

It is hard to maintain, and EXPENSIVE. Oh, it is impressive especially knowing how hard you have to work to achieve that build.

Btw, I am highly experienced in the world of running so if anyone has questions about that I am more then willing to help

Someone above mentioned Couch to 5K. I did that a couple years ago and I did work up to 5K. I also lost a lot of fat that way! But it hurt too much. I live for sore muscles. But that was my joints - knees, ankles, back. I'm just too old for running. My dh has joints of steel - he can run and run. I wish I could. I had actually started to enjoy it. It's so effective when you're trying to lose fat, though!!!

Lol, I'm the one doing C25K. I ran competitively from 6th-11th grade(with about 22 seasons under my belt). I had chronic pain problems with my left knee so now I'm see a PT and going slow. I doubt I will ever do more then a 10k again though. It's amazing how out of shape I am now compared to how in shape I was then
