I spent some time with my cousin and aunt last weekend. The one that I talked about going crazy after her hysterectomy...she's not still crazy. My cousin gave me some insight into being a daughter of a mom without periods. Aunt K had her hysterectomy soon after A was born. A grew up thinking that when you were done having babies, periods just stopped. I'm sure Aunt K didn't teach her that, but that is an assumption A made and had until near adulthood. I'll be aware of that kind of stuff, for sure.

I do plan on keeping a package of pads and tampons around anyway. My three SILs always seem to need something when they're at my house. LOL

I will not have a uterus in 2 weeks and 2 days.

Wow.

I don't know what it feels like to not have a uterus. I've kinda always had one. LOL I really don't know how I am going to feel when I wake up uterus-less.

Hmm, never thought of that before. That would be sorta weird. You'll have to let us know.

I will for sure, Kathryn.

11 days.

I'm so glad for my little online support group. I'm feeling very needy already and I don't think my offline friends have time or patience to listen to me.

We're here to listen anytime, Donna. Honestly with all of the problems I have had lately, I mentioned a hysterectomy to DH last night. It's not what we want...probably not what you ultimately want at this time, but I know God has given you a peace about this. Praying, hun.

Donna, how are you doing? I have been thinking and praying for you. My mom had a hysterectomy for very similar reasons when I was younger.

Just trying to get through. I can't stop thinking about it and that is not good for me right now. I just want it to be next Saturday already. Can we fast forward to there? Please?

I had a horrid dream the other night about people doing awful things to me during the surgery. I woke up crying. I know nothing like that could actually happen, but it made me realize again that part of the operation is expected to be vaginal. The thought of that makes me want to vomit.

How old were you when your mom had one, Chelsae? What was your experience as the daughter of a mom without periods?

ETA...I need to put something on the church prayer chain, but I don't want to put what I am having surgery for. There are some people I'd rather not talk about this with. Actually, I don't very much want to *talk* verbally about this at all right now. I'm feeling very emotionally fragile and I just can't handle it, if that makes any sense.

maybe you could put up something like:

Please pray for me as I am having surgery to hopefully deal with an ongoing situation.

Hopefully people will understand that it isn't something that you want to go into details about.

You could just say you are having surgery.

Yes, but the very people I don't really want to talk with about this are the ones most likely to ask me what the surgery is for.

Is there an option to keep the prayer within the staff or elders or pastor only?

Or just say you want prayer and healing for a personal medical condition.

Donna, I agree with Christine. Maybe just let the people you know to be prayer warriors know about your request.

I could do that. Except I will need some help with the kids and furnace and I don't know how to get that without asking for it plainly, KWIM?

See, there are a handful of people I already know I will get the "if you just pray harder/have more faith/whatever you'll be healed".

Maybe I just need to go through the church directory and email only those I would like to know and who might want to help out.

Well, it depends on how the surgery goes. But I anticipate needing help with Hannah and Levi for at least a week afterward, maybe more. And the furnace too, if it's colder than it is now. I think I won't be able to lift Levi for at least 2 weeks, if the surgery goes the best it can. If it doesn't, it could be longer. He is very demanding and the most likely to get in serious trouble right now and the biggest of my worries.

The biggest thing that decides how much help we need and for how long is whether they can do it laproscopically (2 week recovery time) or open (2 month recovery time).

Donna could you just say that you have an unspoken request? I would never ask someone what their unspoken request was.

I am praying for you & your family.

I wouldn't mind having Levi here, but I couldn't sit for him at your house.

I might be able to lend David a couple days a week.

Yeah, I really need someone here if I have to do the furnace. Or we'll just have to run oil.

I might take you up on having David here a couple days that first week. He could do the furnace and keep an eye on Levi.

I don't remember how old I was, it was before I was 10 though because that is when I got my period. If I had to guess I would say 7 or 8.

You know I can honestly say I never really thought about the fact that my mom didn't have her period. She was very open with me in talking about it and I always felt comfortable going to her if I had any concerns about it. I guess I was kind of lucky actually... I never had to deal with a mom with pms

I'll help you out with Hannah. Just put her on a plane and I'll pick her up and we'll have a grand time together.

I think emailing specific people is the best idea. Ask for specific help if you need it. Especially since the church knows Brian isn't able to help as much.
