My parents have a big combination bookcase/television cabinet in a corner of their living room. One time when I was visiting, one of their cats somehow jumped down behind it. She was stuck, and she started meowing loudly for us to get her out. My mom and I were the only ones home, and the cabinet was way too heavy for the two of us to move. So we came up with a plan. I found a jumprope and tied it to the handle of a basket, and then I got up on a chair and lowered the basket down behind the cabinet (it sits kind of diagonal across a corner, and that's where the cat was). Why in the world I thought the cat would actually jump in the basket and let us lift her out, I don't know. But anyway, here I was standing on a chair, calling for the cat to jump in the basket, and my mom was peering through the crack between the wall and the cabinet to see what was happening. Then, all of a sudden, my mom said, "I don't see her anymore!" I turned around, and there was the cat, very much NOT stuck anymore and sitting behind us, watching the show. I think she was laughing at us! We still get a chuckle out of that story.

but Libby FELL OUT of the window sill after listening to it! I cracked up!! That's like the time in Acts where Paul was preaching (FOREVER) ... and he was "so boring" (my own interpretation) that a guy in the windowsill fell and died!!! (But Paul brought him back to life ... or I should say, God did, but used Paul to do so ... AFTER he stopped preaching!!!) That was a very funny story about all your animals.

Speaking of whom, where's he been?

Something silly happened with my two beasts. For those who do not know me, or anything about me, I have two very large Great Pyrenees ... a pair of gentle giants named Sally and Linus. Linus is epileptic and has sustained enough brain damage to be on the not so bright side ... but incredibly sweet. They are therapy dogs. I was bringing them into the house from the back yard, and had a hold on Sally, she has a very independent spirit at times, and was having Linus follow us, as he always does, into the house. He is usually VERY obedient. Well, not this time. He saw a lady walking her dog across the street and decided to go over and say hi. Linus is a bit over 150 lbs. The lady scooped up her 20 pounder as I assured her he was gentle, and I called him back ... he came to me right away. She explained to me she wasn't worried about my dog, but was afraid hers would attack, stating she was an alpha dog. By now I am holding both of mine and we are walking towards the door, when her dog gets loose and comes charging! The dog leaped up and latched onto Linus's neck (the fur) and hung there snarling away. It was dangling like an ornament, with it's back feet barely touching the ground. Linus and Sally just walked on like there was nothing out of the ordinary going on. If I had a camera, it would make all the headlines on youtube!!! She ran up and pulled her dog off ... it was quite evident the whole ordeal scared her ... but as I said, Sally and Linus are very gentle, and thought nothing of it. I love gentle giants!!!

Psalms, I just had to giggle, then gasp when I read that the little one latched on to Linus. Those little ones are fiesty, aren't they?

ORIGINAL: MediumOneOne When I went home last weekend, I went for a walk down our grassy strip. My mom drove into the lane with the farm truck, and our dogs saw her. The dogs took off tearing down the grassy strip, but my dog fell into a hole SHE dug. She flipped completely over onto her back.... Waited a few seconds, then got up and kept on running. She's a doll So she stood up with an abrupt, "I'm okay!" ... is she could talk that is ... and kept going. I took Linus and Sally on a picnic with the girls I work with after church. (We have outings outside of the regular teaching time to bond.) Linus, as some of you know, is an epileptic, which has resulted in a number of stays in the ICU with IV's, the works. So he is very clingy sometimes when I take him out. (I think he might be afraid I will leave him with strangers who will poke needles into him.) He was sitting at my feet as we finished the main course. I got up to go to the other side of the table to cut the dessert I had made for the girls. Suddenly, the table lifted off the ground. The silly boy, in his attempt to stay near me, (not sure why he just didn't go around) went under the picnic table and stood up, lifting part of the table with him. Did I mention he was big?

Well... due to flying it's impossible to have pets. Just wouldn't be fair to them as I wouldn't be able to take care of them the way they should be taken care of. So... here's the family pets: Snoetje (sweetie) is my mom's cat and she adores the sun. Whenever the sun comes... there she is tanning. She tends to sit at the window a lot and you'd think she's a statue. Sometimes she's on the mantelpiece and sleeps standing. Just recently I was told she has claimed my bedroom as hers. She also enjoys sleeping on the modem... keeps her warm, I guess. She has also been found in the dryer so now my mom has to make sure she isn't hiding in there before turning it on. Flits (flash) is my brother's cat. He's lazy. He's got his own chair next to my brother when he's on the computer. There's a funny story how to became members of the family. I had a cat, Felix and we had to put him to sleep several years ago due to kidney failure. A few years after we got Felix, we went to animal shelter and got Flits. He was still very young. When Flits was about 3 months old... there was a storm outside. He wanted to go outside so we let him. Never saw him again.... So during the weekend we went back to the animal shelter to get a new cat... Now Snoetje joins the family and she was about 1 year old. Exactly one week after the disappearance of Flits... We went to pick up my dad from work and when we got home there was a cat at the front door. Cat came inside with us and the rest of the family was thinking it was Snoetje. Here come I and say NO... It's Flits.... cause Snoetje was sleeping in the shoe box where we keep the clothespins. It took a few moments for the rest of the family to realize... and so we had 3 cats then. A few years ago my dad got a new dog, though my mom takes care of him most of the time. He's got a family tree and his name had to start with a G. Cause of the white stripe on his forehead... It became Gizmo cause it reminded us of the Gremlins. I say he is a pig disguised as a dog. He's eaten my brother's mp3-player (though the previous dog had a habit of eating washcloths). He hates to be alone and knows when to sneak away (and no, it doesn't smell like roses). He's scared to go outside by himself. So sometimes when I go outside with him... I'll sneak back inside. See that doggie run.... But ... when the cat is sitting inside in front of the dog/cat door.... he'll stay outside waiting for the cat to move.... He's scared of the cat too...

The smart one has problems with his right ear. So he perodically needs to have ear drops. All I have to do is say "Scout time for your ear drops" and he will run to a spot in the kitchen, sit down and tilt his head to the left. He has also learned if he chokes he gets peanut butter on a spoon. So now every once in a while he will cough and then he gets up and runs around in a panic until gets peanut butter.
