Thanks ladies!! I cannot believe how close I am. I will be 37 weeks on Monday. I had contractions last night that were pretty strong. They came 10 minutes apart for a little over 2 hours and then stopped. Also, I have been losing bits of my mucus plug for about a week now. I am planning to have a home birth and my midwife doen't do internal exams until labor has started (and then only if you request it) so I have no idea if I am dialated.

I have a meeting with the midwife today at 3:30 and she is bringing the pool so we will have it here and can set it up once I'm in labor!!

My mom ordered us an Arm's Reach co-sleeper awhile ago and it was supposed to be here the first week of May. It still hasn't arrived yet. That is the last thing we need to get ready for the baby.

Wow Emily, how exciting! I know you're feeling much better being so close to full term in case he arrives early. How are your back and hips doing? Hope you're feeling better!

Oh, also wanted to mention that someone might want to offer to be a back up contact for Emily in case she goes early since I am it.

Sandy has offered to be my back up contact.

My hips and back are still causing me a lot of pain. I am not getting much sleep because of it. But I'm going to have a baby soon, so I can deal with the pain a little longer.

I can't believe how close it seems, Emily! We got our co-sleeper a few weeks ago, but haven't set it up yet because we're not done renovating!

I am still having a lot of contractions and some are very uncomfortable, but no signs he is coming anytime soon.

I found out yesterday that my in-laws are leaving to go to Pennsylvania for 2 weeks right at my due date. It really hurt my feelings when Chris told me because I thought they would want to be around when their first grandchild is born.

(((Emily))) It sounds like things are getting close for you. I never had contractions until the weekend I delivered so I don't know what that is like. Sorry about the in-laws, that would have hurt my feelings too. My MIL along with my mom and hubby were in the delivery room with me. At first she wasn't going to come until it was her week to stay with us, but at the last minute she decided to come. She got there 10 minutes before he was born and was able to see him be born. It was neat! Maybe they will change their minds and decide what is really important to them.

My parents live 7 minutes away and Chris' parent live 20 minutes away. My mom and sister are going to be here for the birth. The plan was to call my dad and Chris' parents after David is born so they can come see him. I want them here after he is born, just not while I am laboring. I just thought they would be excited about their first grandchild, but neither of them have seemed very excited about it at all.

Maybe they are the type to not get excited until baby's here? I know my dad was like that with my nephew ... never really seemed excited or interested and when I asked him he said, "well, ya know, anything can happen. when the baby's actually here I'll be happy." and he was - he's a wonderful doting grandad!

Just because they haven't (to you) seemed very excited doesn't mean they aren't, it could just mean they don't show it in the same way you do. Had you told them you wanted them around for the birth and early days? Maybe they thought they were being sensitive and giving you space.

I certainly wouldn't have wanted my in-laws around when either of my two were first born.

Chris has let them know. I am due June 9 and they are going to be gone (I think) from June 6-22. That is a whole lot of newborn days they will be missing. I can understand why his dad would not be excited about it, but I thought his mom would be. For a while she seemed excited (saying she couldn't wait to hold him and how if I need anything at all I could call her, etc.) but now they are leaving at what seems to me to be a very important time.

Chris has let them know.

Did he let them know before they booked the trip, or just now?

(and maybe David will take care of things himself and come early!!)

They have known for quite a while now. They are going up to visit family (Chris was born in PA and all of his extended family lives up there) so they didn't really "book a trip."

Emily my inalws did the same thing with my first baby (their first grandchild). They were moving interstate to be pastors of the new church and we found out when we visited them a year later that everyone was amazed that they left 3 days after my due date (she was born the next day) and didn't wait around longer as it wasn't urgent they be at the church or anything Praying for you!

My parents went on vacation right around my due date with my third. They were annoyed when they missed the birth.

My In-laws live out of town and refused to come to the birth of our first child because we weren't letting his mom in the delivery room. Where I live you are only allowed 2 people and I chose my mom and my husband. She was very offended for some reason and then refused to come. My son is 16 mo old and she's only seen him 3 times. My hubby's dad comes down about everyother month but his mom always has an excuse why she cain't come. We don't really get along cuz of the delivery room incident.

So don't feel bad it's not just ur inlaws!

Steph
