Wow Emily, how exciting! I know you're feeling much better being so close to full term in case he arrives early. How are your back and hips doing? Hope you're feeling better!

Oh, also wanted to mention that someone might want to offer to be a back up contact for Emily in case she goes early since I am it.

Sandy has offered to be my back up contact. My hips and back are still causing me a lot of pain. I am not getting much sleep because of it. But I'm going to have a baby soon, so I can deal with the pain a little longer.

(((Emily))) It sounds like things are getting close for you. I never had contractions until the weekend I delivered so I don't know what that is like. Sorry about the in-laws, that would have hurt my feelings too. My MIL along with my mom and hubby were in the delivery room with me. At first she wasn't going to come until it was her week to stay with us, but at the last minute she decided to come. She got there 10 minutes before he was born and was able to see him be born. It was neat! Maybe they will change their minds and decide what is really important to them.

My parents live 7 minutes away and Chris' parent live 20 minutes away. My mom and sister are going to be here for the birth. The plan was to call my dad and Chris' parents after David is born so they can come see him. I want them here after he is born, just not while I am laboring. I just thought they would be excited about their first grandchild, but neither of them have seemed very excited about it at all.

Just because they haven't (to you) seemed very excited doesn't mean they aren't, it could just mean they don't show it in the same way you do. Had you told them you wanted them around for the birth and early days? Maybe they thought they were being sensitive and giving you space. I certainly wouldn't have wanted my in-laws around when either of my two were first born.

They have known for quite a while now. They are going up to visit family (Chris was born in PA and all of his extended family lives up there) so they didn't really "book a trip."

Emily my inalws did the same thing with my first baby (their first grandchild). They were moving interstate to be pastors of the new church and we found out when we visited them a year later that everyone was amazed that they left 3 days after my due date (she was born the next day) and didn't wait around longer as it wasn't urgent they be at the church or anything Praying for you!

My In-laws live out of town and refused to come to the birth of our first child because we weren't letting his mom in the delivery room. Where I live you are only allowed 2 people and I chose my mom and my husband. She was very offended for some reason and then refused to come. My son is 16 mo old and she's only seen him 3 times. My hubby's dad comes down about everyother month but his mom always has an excuse why she cain't come. We don't really get along cuz of the delivery room incident. So don't feel bad it's not just ur inlaws! Steph
