ORIGINAL: zmanfan38 Hmmmm, the crust was actually thinner in the middle, but you're onto something about the toppings. They were thicker there. I bet that's it. Thanks! It could be the toppings, but with the pizza stone, did you preheat it? Sometimes if I plan to have a lot of toppings, I'll cook the crust for about 5 minutes before I put the toppings on. Nicole, yes, we go camping a lot! The national park with a really nice campground is only 1/2 hour from here, and it's far enough just to get away for the weekend. We also want to get our money's worth out of the trailer. I would hate for us to have bought it and it sit in the driveway all summer!!

Yolanda - yes I know what your city you're talking about. I've flown there before, so I'm going to ask them if they're willing to drive there and pick us up. We were thinking of Thanksgiving weekend, and looking at Westjet they seem to only fly into my sister's city on Wednesdays. That won't work because Dh doesn't want to take that much time off of work. And of course I can stop and visit you on the way. If Thanksgiving doesn't work then we'll be going without Dh some time in October. Wow...what a whole lot of baseball talk!!! Prudent - what a sweet anniversary! Happy Anniversary! Today we're going to visit my MIL...woo hoo fun! (sense the sarcasm). It's not so bad but she just got a computer and sometimes showing her how to use the computer makes Dh and I want to bang our heads against the wall. I think I'm going to bring a book with me and hide somewhere. It's a long weekend this weekend, Monday is a holiday. Tomorrow, Dh's cousin is having her annual bbq so we'll probably check that out and other than that enjoy Dh's time off work (and the fact that he only has a month left until teaching!)

Your sister's city is only 1 hour from my house, so (depending on the day) we could pick you up in my city if necessary and then your sister could meet us at our place or something like that, I wouldn't mind that at all! Well, the trailer is all packed, I just have to go out and vacuum the truck and wash it and when hubby is done piling wood, we're all set to get away for the long weekend! I won't be back until tuesday! I think a couple of people here have my cell number, should some more commotion come up, could somebody text or call me??

Thanks for the offer Yolanda! I'm going to look into it and I'll let you know. We're going to have to see what Dh's work schedule is first and then make our plans. I'll keep you up to speed with what we're deciding on (the $99 flights sound really good!)

I'll preheat and cook the crust for a few minutes next time. Thanks for the great ideas!

Thanks Christi! I don't mind the baseball talk, I follow it a little bit, not as much as I used to. But Dh and I hit a Blue Jays game every year (usually when the play the Yankees.)

Lexie, we try to go every year to a game in Atlanta, but it wasn't in the budget for this year. It's fun, isn't it?

It's so much fun. We love the Yankees games because for many people in New York it's quicker to drive to Toronto instead of New York City. So where we sit we are always surrounded by Yankees fans, which makes for a good day to trading (friendly) insults back and forth!

Prudent- what a wonderful anniversary! I hope you have a wonderful day celebrating the accomplishment and remembering the beauty of that time. Rachel- how did last night go? did you catch "it?" Christi- when pizza is soggy in the middle, that means it was overloaded. Try fewer topping (or less of each topping) next time. We love "supreme" pizza, so I have a habit of overloading when I make it. I figure the more veggies the better, right? I'm planning on just hanging around the house today. I need to exercise, clean the house, do laundry, and cook dinner. I have an eggplant that's going to "go off" really soon. I plan to have that for dinner... but I can't decide what to go with it!! Maybe grilled steaks... I don't know!

I am ignoring Rachel's post.....cause EWWWWWWW!!!!!! WOOOHOOOOOO...we actually filled up the van from empty last night on LESS then $60!!!!!!!!!!!! (and I am talking very very empty...as in Paul got home from work and put the gas from the can in the back yard in it just to ensure we would make it to the gas station when we went back out.....lol) quote:
What does everybody have planned for tomorrow? if we can get the pool shocked and pretty, then swimming. We haven't gotten it up and going this summer yet...despite all the time Paul has tried to devote to it (having problems getting the pump going because someone who previously owned this house really messed it up and didn't fix it right) quote:
We're thinking about going to a splash pad here in town if it doesn't rain. Do you all have those? They are fountains where you go get wet and play...usually in a park. We discovered them last Summer. Never heard of them before. We love them, but there are occasional cases of people getting tummy viruses if they don't keep them chlorinated enough. Eww ...I might have just talked myself out of going. we used to go to the one at DW all the time after church sunday afternoons (cause they are not very busy then usually...and with seasons passes it was free to get in) quote:
ORIGINAL: Room2Grow Sarah and Sandy- am I the only one who thinks that the new uniform patches are TACKY! Granted, sewing them on is a pain in the rear, but all that velcro Hard to look sharp that way... What really gets me is the flag- I realize that they are supposed to be charging forward, blah, blah, blah... It still looks like a backwards flag- drives me crazier than the beret thing a few years back... uuuggggghhhhhhh.....new uniforms (ACU's), well, let's just say we HATE THEM!!!!! I would gladly go back to ironing BDU's if they would switch back. Hate the boots too...hubby is a mechanic, works around grease all day...tan boots get black just from walking into the motor pool, and you can't clean them. At least with the old ones you could polish the grease a little and the color blended in!!! And those berets!!!!! sheesh!!!!!!!!!! They aren't allowed to wear them when working, they used to wear their old covers....in the motor pool it was allowed. Then someone got caught out of the motor pool area with one on, so now they have to work outside in the scorching 100°F temps with the sun beating down on them with NO HATS on!!!!! (and remember, they don't have hair to protect their heads!!!!) quote:
Justin has a theory with the backwards flag patch...he says it was an accident, and the Army was too cheap to redo the patches back in the day...so they made up a story about them being backwards because they are going so fast forward LOL lol (for those that don't get it, the flag is "flying"...and since it is worn on the right upper arm, if they were to be walking, then it would "fly" backwards with the blue section in the right corner instead of the left. It looks stupid. All the soldiers I know make fun of the flag flying backwards...and the new uniforms....and the constantly changing "motto". eta...aren't we supposed to start a new thread today? who was going to start it?
