DUDE Rach. That is crazy. Oh my goodness. (Does it bother you that I call you Rach? I surely won't if you don't like it...)
Jess and Sarah, I saw that a lot overseas. I think a lot of the women were unhappy being so far away from home and spent money thinking that would help. I fell into that trap too. It's been hard to relearn frugality after coming back stateside. Not too bad here...but then, we've only been here a year

Rachael, that story freaked both my husband and I out. I hope you trap something soon.

Oh no, not rats!

Rachel, have you thought of setting a live trap (just baited with food) inside the house at night?

Rachel!! I feel your pain! Once when we were growing up we got a family of possums in our house. It freaked me out!! We ended up moving until the possums moved out and house could be repaired (from a fallen tree on the roof which was how and why the critters moved in with us!)

Doesn't bother me! My best friends and my mom and dad call me that.

Hmmm, I had to do a double-take here. One minute you were saying you liked "Rach", the next minute you were saying it again and thinking it was "gross"................................... took me a while to realise that the second para was about the rodents! ROFLMBO!!!!

What does everybody have planned for tomorrow?

I know Rachael plans on having all pests removed from her home.

We're thinking about going to a splash pad here in town if it doesn't rain. Do you all have those? They are fountains where you go get wet and play...usually in a park. We discovered them last Summer. Never heard of them before. We love them, but there are occasional cases of people getting tummy viruses if they don't keep them chlorinated enough. Eww ...I might have just talked myself out of going.

Kim- glad to see you back, we have been asking about you. Have you had Hannah's birthday yet?

Thanks!! We had Hannah's 3rd Birthday on Monday! Woohoo!! My baby is getting so big! We went to the Zoo (it was over 103 degrees Farenheit - HOT, HOT, HOT!) she loved it! We had Joel's sister and her husband here visiting from California for her birthday so it was a fun and full house. It was awesome!

quote:

It really is just the difference in perspective about money. Hubby & I could go on vacations and drive newer cars, but we chose to avoid debt, so those things are not for us now.

Joel and I are the same way...we've got empty rooms in our house (empty of furniture) because we refuse to go into debt for frivolous stuff...

quote:

Whatever it is, it just got in the house (and I can't figure out how) yesterday, no sooner. But the damage it's done in that time is amazing. (It also chewed/tore a hole in my rug while I was gone today). Oh my stars. Somebody come rescue me. Snakes, I can do. Rodents, I cannot.

Awww...Rachel! I'm so very sorry (and creeped out for ya!)! Could you have your kiddos sleep with a light on in their rooms? Do you think that would help in the time between now and when your hubby unloads his shotgun on the horrid vermin?

quote:

What does everybody have planned for tomorrow?

While Jael is napping tomorrow morning (with Joel here working from home), Hannah and I are going to run an errand to a non-Walmart supermarket to find some Boursin cheese for a new recipe of Spinach Artichoke dip I'm making with dinner tomorrow night! Not sure about the rest of the day...probably spend some time in the pool.

Kim, the spinach artichoke dip sounds wonderful!

Hey, how about all these baseball trades here at the deadline? I know your team was affected. We got a starting pitcher a few weeks ago, but that's all we're moving right now (as far as I know).

I'll let you know how the dip turns out...if it's any good I'll post the recipe if any one is interested.

I KNOW!!! about the trades...but it seems like it was a good time to get rid of Manny...as much as I like him, his attitude the last few weeks has been really deplorable. Now he's on a team in CA...much more his style (laid back) so to speak...and we've got Jason Bay! Good on our end I think!

How do you think Harden will pan out for ya'll?

I'd love to have the dip recipe...thanks! Will you serve it with bread or crackers or something else?

Yeah, Manny was gone already (he wanted out BAD), and getting Jason just makes it sweeter!

So far Harden is doing well. There has been a game or two that he pitched a great game and the bullpen blew it. He had to be pretty about that. He did fabulous today and we won 11-4.

I'll post the recipe tomorrow I'm going to be serving it with left over chips we had from the other night from On the Border take out. And our traditional Pizza fare for Friday night's.

Manny was really upsetting me with his not running out plays (as of late) and his comments about how the Red Sox don't deserve him...oh well...

Mmmm, the dip with pizza sounds great! We had homemade pizza tonight. It was pretty good, but for some reason my crust was less done the closer to the middle you got. The outsides and through the middle (of each slice) were perfect, but the middle (the tips of the slices) were soggy. We just discarded that part, but it stinks that we had to. I use one of those pizza stones. Has that ever happened to you?

Oh yeah, when guys want to move on and they start that half-hearted playing it burns my toast! I'm thinking can't you just act like you're getting paid millions of dollars and just run?? Oy

We don't use a pizza stone (though I'd love one!). I made home made pizza crust a few months back and that didn't happen...do you think it could have been thicker in the middle or that the sauce or the cheese was too heavy there? The only other thing I could think it could be from is uneven heating from your oven?

Hmmmm, the crust was actually thinner in the middle, but you're onto something about the toppings. They were thicker there. I bet that's it. Thanks!

So...you sure you don't want to be a part of my hubby's fantasy baseball league next season? My lovely sister, who doesn't know very much about baseball competes every year...she just lets the auto-draft pick her players and she's good to go!
