Sounds like she was mad at the hiccups! LOL So today when Hannah and I were out getting our hair cut (just a trim) and going to the store, I forgot to ask her if she had to potty before we left the hair place. Just as I turned on the road to the store, she told me she had to pee, and I knew she'd never make it to the bathroom in the back of the store. So I pulled up on the edge of the parking lot, by the grass, pulled her pants down and held her up so she wouldn't pee on her clothes. I don't think anyone saw us. The things mothers are willing to do...LOL.

What kind of shoes do you all like for your walking babies. John Cooper has a couple of pairs of sneakers from Target with velcro but they are getting a little snug. We have a pair of Pedipeds which we love, but they have a soft sole and I wonder if it will bother his feet walking outside.

Laura, the sandals I have for Nathan (which have earned me some gentle ribbing here at CW, 'cause I had him in socks and sandals), were Stride Rite. I love 'em.

I think water shoes are great for summer because then you don't worry if they are in and out of the water with their shoes on, like some of mine like to do. I don't have sandals for Levi...just hard sole sneakers and water shoes.

We have PediPeds, SqueakerSneakers, and Tredz from Robeez that I have been collecting in summer sizes, not that Gabby is even walking yet The Tredz are pretty neat, they have soft soles and would definitely be adequate for walking outside.

I've only had to buy a couple pairs of shoes for Timmy so far. When we bought his lot of clothes 0m-2T a few years ago, there were shoes in there size 4-9. We bought Timmy some Disney Car shoes from Wal*Mart and a pair of sandals for the summer. Normally I don't pay attention to brand, just cuteness and price. If John Cooper where's shoes a lot though, you may want to go with some of the ones Ryanne recommended with the soft (but thick) soles. We only wear shoes when we go out (not often) so I just use regular shoes. Jeanie, ARG hiccups! I got so lucky with Jimmy...he just gets them once in a while. But, Timmy oh, my goodness! Everytime he laughed, which was ALL the time because he's so silly and laughs like every 5 minutes. We always had to bring a bottle/sippy with us ANYWHERE we went in case he got the hiccups, which he usually did because everything made him laugh. He would get so mad everytime he got them, and he used to get them bad like his neck was going to implode, and it would make his swallow air and burp. It was rediculous! I would just make one little silly face, andhe would just start busting up like he was at a stand up, and then he'd get the hiccups. He still gets hiccups whenever he laughs hard, but they don't make him so mad anymore now that he's 2 and a half. His easyness to laugh is one of my favorite qualities about him though. I remember this one time I took Timmy to the grocery store and I forgot his juice. I think he was like 8 months This one lady came up to us and started doing the cute baby talk stuff to him, and then she started to do peek-a-boo. He just started to laugh a little. I felt bad, but I asked her to please don't make him laugh because he gets the hiccups everytime and it makes him mad. She stopped, but it was too late. I tried to figure out what to do, and in that time he started getting mad. Back then I was kinda paranoid about people thinking I was a bad mom if they saw my baby crying in the grocery store, so it was really bad for me at the time. I finally took him to the drinking fountain, but it took some work to get him to drink LOL! I have never forgotten his sippy cup since.

Sarah that's great about Emma, praying she gets over the swimming fear too. Its hard when you kids are scared so young about things. Grace has just started saying its scary to go to the toilet at night when its close to bed time unless I am there with her. Nath has just started to cut through his first tooth. I can feel the top part of it breaking through, hopefully some sleepFUL nights are around the corner! He is not really wanting to experiment so much with other foods though. I gave him some rice and vegies the other day he just kept spitting that out, he will eat a bit of mashed potato and carrot, and he eats mashed banana and he has had chicken once too. Question.. if you are making like a casserole or something do you still give them the meat that was in the sauce? I can't remember if I did with Grace or not..

I'd suggest you get her a torch that she can work herself, rather than buy into the fear. And just keep repeating that there's nothing around at night that isn't there during the day. quote:

I gave him some rice and vegies the other day he just kept spitting that out I found the best way to get them to eat new things was to mix the new food with something they already like - with my two, that was mostly pureed apple. I introduced all kinds of meat, fish and veg that way.

I hope some solid hours of sleep are in your future, too! Nathan just cut another molar. I think it's getting easier, now. His congestion wakes him up a little, but it's not terrible.

Have you guys heard the story of the 17 year old girl who gave birth alone at home, then wrapped up the baby got dressed and carried the boy and placenta (the umbilical cord still attached), 4 blocks to the local hospital. It's a little sad, but still there's hope. She must be a very strong young lady to get up and carry her baby to the hospital right after giving birth. Apparently she couldn't call 911 because her home phone was disconnected, and she didn't want to wake the neighbors at 5:30am. Here's the story.

Well, I'd be just as happy for her if she gave the baby to a loving family. I consider adoption to be a beautiful choice. But I do admire her strength and presence of mind. She'll need it to complete two more years of high school, hopefully some post high school training and raising a baby with the help of her family.

I could be wrong, of course, but that was how I read it.
