So is it safe to say that WHN didn't have to worry about a makeover this year at all?

Oh, WHN got dressed up, by the same little girl, too, but this time, she wanted him in a suit, and a some funky hat, and cowboy boots. He looked like a broke pimp...lol! Our photographer took a picture with him and about 10 little girls surrounding him, all decked out in wedding and prom dresses, boas, jewelery, etc. Totally adorable! Then they took his picture with each girl alone so they could have it in their memory album. They showed those in the slide show later that night, and our drummer leaned over to me and sang in a great Bee Gee voice, "well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man, no time to talk" LOL! [:D]

Looking forward to hearing about you being called to the carpet for not trying enough

Okay, this little boy is a beyond a handful...a teeny little guy, but very aggressive. He became the self-appointed assistant of the coach for morning exercises and was like a dictator with what we had to do. I was in the back one morning with a few of my friends and we were drinking coffee, half-heartedly doing the exercises. He looked back at us and pointed to us and yelled "you three in the back...get with it" LOL! I ended up sitting at their table for breakfast, right by him. The minute I sat down he said "you weren't even trying at exercises this morning. I don't want to see the same thing tomorrow" I was stunned...lol! Before I could respond, he added, "you DO sing really good, but that's no excuse to slack off" I was dying! I looked at his counselor who after snickering for a second, said to this little guy, "See, God gives everyone different talents...some can sing really good and some are good with sports...we are all different and that's what makes us a team". He thought that one over for a minute then turned to me and put his hand on my arm and with a very long-suffering tone and facial expression, said, "Look, I don't expect you to be good at it, but I DO expect you to at least try...I'll be watching you tomorrow" and then he did the little fingers from his eyes to me thing. LOL! It was hysterical! I assured him I would do my best and he said "that's all I want". [:D]

I think that's hilarious!

Hey Guys :)

I'm glad you enjoyed the couple of stories. I have so many more to share, but I'm in that after camp funk, to a degree. Plus, it's been a whirlwind of activity around here since we got back.

Britt and her husband found a great apartment while we were at camp, and signed lease papers today. We help them get moved over on Saturday. No more kitty fur in my house and a total weekend of cleaning top to bottom...I'll a happy camper! The carpet gets replaced next week, then we can get everying moved back where it belongs and back in order. That's been the hardest part for me...having things so unorganized the last few months.

Then, in a couple of weeks, we move Kristen back home temporarily. Her lease is up this month on her apartment, and she'll move back into the dorms in mid August for her senior year.

I hope everyone is having a great week!

uncabeeil -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/2/2009 9:45:39 PM)

I'm off tomorrow with pay, so that makes it a great week!

karlie -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/3/2009 10:53:43 AM)

That is cool! [:D]

uncabeeil -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/4/2009 7:54:28 AM)

Yeah, so of course it rained off and on all day, spoiling any plans I had to work in my garden. [:@] That's something like 23 out of 30 days with rain now.

That's better than almost 5 months with no rain. Trust me.

karlie -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/4/2009 8:53:34 PM)

I'd love some of that rain, but only if it cooled off while we were getting it.

We got the kids moved today. It's a lot harder moving an hour away rather than just across town! We had three trips to make and they still have one last one to go with their cat and computers. But, they don't need our truck for that, so they get to handle the last trip! It was a lot of work with it being so hot and their apartment being upstairs, but it was fun, too. We had pizza and ice cream afterwards and had a nice visit.

We decided to just relax tonight instead of join friends for fireworks. WHN is exhausted and doesn't feel like going anywhere and I want to get some organizing and cleaning started. WHN was laughing because I said I decided I'd rather clean tonight instead of go see friends. He said,"must have been the toughest choice you've made in awhile...clean or blab, clean or blab..." [8|]

Happy Independence Day, everyone!! [:)]

Happy Independence Day to you and WHN too.

Funny tease from WHN LOL!

For several years now, we got our firework fix from TV, I have watched the Capitol 4th on PBS, and now I am watching the Boston Pops program on CBS. Well, sorta watching.

_Cinderella_ -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/5/2009 1:33:37 AM)

My favorite fireworks are the ones they shoot off every night at Disneyland. I have been there twice now and both times I was in awe on how wonderful of a job they do there. Nothing else compares...

One of these things is not like the other. One of these things just doesn't belong.

Maybe it's just me, but to me relax does not equal cleaning! [;)]

LOL! I know it's weird, but cleaning is oddly relaxing for me, even if it's tiring. It brings a sense of satisfaction, and I know the payoff will be worth it, so it's somehting I enjoy. I'll admit, it's a little twisted. I have actually been fantasizing the last week about which room to tackle first, and which things will go back into what closet and all that. I bought a few new containers(Oh, how I love the Rubbermaid isle!), made my list, and got new cleaning gloves. I know...they need to make a pill for this! ...lol.

I'd like to ask for prayer for our family tomorrow, especially Kristen. We have to take Abby-Pants, Kristen's cat in for the big sleep [:(] She's nearly 15 years old and has developed tumors on her tummy. They are breaking open and bleeding and getting worse over the last two days. She doesn't appear to be in any real pain yet, but we don't want to wait until she is. As it is, she is already losing her appetite and not moving around as much. Anyway, she's been with us a long time and even though she's an outside cat, she's always stuck close to home and it's sad to have to say goodbye. She was Kristen's very first pet.

Karlie, I am so sorry. [&o] It's so sad to lose a beloved pet.

karlie -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/5/2009 7:24:16 PM)

Thanks Kath.

It is sad. I'm not a die-hard animal lover, but we've had her from a kitten and she's just a sweet cat. I hate it that Kristen is so heartbroken. She was only 6 when she got Abby
.

Been there, too. You're right, that's worse.

I caught Aretha. She was awesome, as usual.

Sharon. you would have loved our 4th. We had grilled steaks with enough different sides, befores, and afters to keep everybody happy. But no fireworks. I've been down to the Capitol once for the show. It's a zoo! 250,000 people cramming 3 subway stations. We got there 8 hours before the show, and couldn't get to the front of the stage at all. We sat across from the howitzers on the reflecting pool. Those babies are LOUD.

{{{{Karlie & all}}}}

Truly sorry you have to do that.

Even if it is a cat. [;)]

Oh, Bill, just READING grilled steaks started the drool. It's been a very long time now since I have had that. [:(] Glad you had a good 4th though and yes, I would have enjoyed your kind of gathering. NO WAY would I venture into the kind of crowds of being on the Capitol Mall for that event. You see much better from the living room anyway. [:D]

((((((Kristen))))))) I sooooo can relate. [:(][:(][:(]
Praying for you all.

On the steak thing... so much has been going on around here and with major happenings with Josh and Anoush that we haven't really had time to set aside a "steak night". I sure do hope it's soon though.

HisSweetGypsyRose -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/6/2009 12:16:25 AM)

I'm praying too, Karlie...sadly it looks like we may have to have Riley put to sleep this week, I don't know yet. It depends on what the vet says when we take him back this coming Wednesday evening.

I like to think that beloved pets will be with us in heaven. It comforts me, and I need that. Give Kristen a hug for me, ok?

karlie -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/6/2009 2:34:35 AM)

Awwww, Kimmy! I'm so sorry. I know how much you love Riley [:(] I'll pass on the hug to Kristen. She's pretty upset tonight.

Thanks everyone for the hugs and prayers. [:)]

Hi, Karlie! Thought I'd stopped in and visit your Kompound! How's it going?

karlie -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/6/2009 2:41:16 AM)

Hi Melissa [:)]

I'm good. Enjoying my summer vacation!

How are you?

MyCatSmokey2006 -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/6/2009 2:53:44 AM)

Tired, but can't sleep. Updated some of my security software, it took over 4 hours! My internet service, which normally hangs up after 4 hours, stayed active for six hours, probably because of the update.

I just read the earlier posts. Sorry to hear about Kristin's cat. I remember having to put my cat, the one before Smokey, to sleep. She was my baby, just like Smokey is now. [:(]
