Happy First Day of Camp
to Karlie and her Kids!

[:D]

I don't expect you to see this for a few days . . . but I just wanted you to know that I was thinking about y'all today.

Looking forward to hearing how it all went!

Stories about giving kids love and hope? Who would want to hear stuff like that? [8|] Ya want that just turn on The Hallmark Channel any day after 8 pm. You act like it's a big deal.

karlie -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (6/28/2009 12:10:06 PM)

Hey Guys!

I survived another year...just barley though! Man, what a group of boys we had this year! Trouble came disguised in the littlest packages this year!

Camp was wonderful and overall, very successful. We did have our share of usual issues, and had to send one boy home Wednesday night after a violent tantrum requiring him to be restrained for almost four hours. What a nightmare! But, everything else went fairly smoothly. The goodbyes were heart-wrenching as usual, but I know those kids are firmly in God's hands, and there is no better place for them to be.

Lots of little stories to tell you all about...some of them sad, some so funny! I got called on the carpet by a little nine year old pipsqueak for "not trying enough" at morning exercises. LOL! That conversation was too funny! I'll share that one a little later.

Thank you all for the prayers. Knowing we were covered in prayer made all the difference to us, especially in those hard times when we weren't sure what to do.

I'll share some more later...right now, it's time for another nap. I can't seem to get enough rest!

cherish405 -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (6/28/2009 12:37:50 PM)

So glad to have you home, Karlie!

Looking forward to hearing about you being called to the carpet for not trying enough! LOL! And all the other stories too.

What a shame about that little boy. What a life he must have. [:(] God can still touch him though in ways we may never suspect or comprehend.

Have a great nap, Karlie.

Hi Karlie, I am glad things went well! So is it safe to say that WHN didn't have to worry about a makeover this year at all? [:D]

Oh, WHN got dressed up, by the same little girl, too, but this time, she wanted him in a suit, and a some funky hat, and cowboy boots. He looked like a broke pimp...lol! Our photographer took a picture with him and about 10 little girls surrounding him, all decked out in wedding and prom dresses, boas, jewelery, etc. Totally adorable! Then they took his picture with each girl alone so they could have it in their memory album. They showed those in the slide show later that night, and our drummer leaned over to me and sang in a great Bee Gee voice, "well, you can tell by the way I use my walk, I'm a woman's man, no time to talk" LOL! Okay, this little boy is a beyond a handful...a teeny little guy, but very aggressive. He became the self-appointed assistant of the coach for morning exercises and was like a dictator with what we had to do. I was in the back one morning with a few of my friends and we were drinking coffee, half-heartedly doing the exercises. He looked back at us and pointed to us and yelled "you three in the back...get with it" LOL! I ended up sitting at their table for breakfast, right by him. The minute I sat down he said "you weren't even trying at exercises this morning. I don't want to see the same thing tomorrow" I was stunned...lol! Before I could respond, he added, "you DO sing really good, but that's no excuse to slack off" I was dying! I looked at his counselor who after snickering for a second, said to this little guy, "See, God gives everyone different talents...some can sing really good and some are good with sports...we are all different and that's what makes us a team". He thought that one over for a minute then turned to me and put his hand on my arm and with a very long-suffering tone and facial expression, said, "Look, I don't expect you to be good at it, but I DO expect you to at least try...I'll be watching you tomorrow" and then he did the little fingers from his eyes to me thing. LOL! It was hysterical! I assured him I would do my best and he said "that's all I want". [:D]

humbleinspirit -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (6/28/2009 2:30:40 PM)

Very funny and cool Karlie!

armydude -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (6/28/2009 2:57:43 PM)

LOL! I can picture it!

Bountiful -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (6/28/2009 11:28:35 PM)

What a kid! Sounds like he would make a good actor - excellent role playing.

OH my, that is too funny!!!! [:D]

Sad about the little guy who had to go home. I'm sure, even if was beyond a handful, that it was difficult to do.

Welcome back Karlie! That's IS hysterical!! How old was he?

I agree with Kath... sad that the one little guy had to go home. [:(]

(((((Karlie)))))

Welcome back!

Would love to hear more from camp. [sm=bigears.gif]

uncabeeil -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (6/29/2009 12:26:08 PM)

Oh how I wish I could've been there! Especially the eyes thing! One of these days you have to send us a picture of your husband in full costume. [sm=pinkhairsmile.gif]

awed -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (6/30/2009 1:47:13 PM)

Just saw the newest Happy Cow audition commercial LOL!

I of course at to share it here in Karlie's thread. [:)]
Auditions-View Kathy

You can choose Kathy from her picture up on the right, or you can go right to the commercial by choose her "video tape" under the tv screen. If you choose that option, sit for a couple seconds and you will hear comments about taking so long to make a decision. LOL!!

rayofson -> RE: Karlie's Kompound for Komrades (7/1/2009 11:11:12 AM)

Ironic that someone from Wisconsin would be interested in the California milk commercial. [:D]
