Right, Gina. I have posted in there a time or two...mostly just encouragement to you, though....as I am not sure if I really fit there though. I'm not even classified as being infertile or struggling with it until DH & I have been trying to conceive for a year. We are not to that point yet. In some ways I wish we were....so we could figure out WHY we've been struggling to conceive. But in other ways....there is still a glimmer of hope that all is normal & we'll be pregnant soon.

My son will be 5 in May. I just always thought he would be a big brother long before now. I keep thinking how much harder it must be for those who have never conceived a child. At the same time, I know my own inner struggles with thinking maybe there is something wrong with me & that my son was a miracle to begin with....

Well, I finally made an appointment for early March. I have two girls, but since my last one (16 months ago), I have not had a period, and though I joked that it would be nice to just get pg and skip the cycle like some of my favorite cw ladies, that has not happened, and I'm starting to think something is up. I'm still nursing, but just at sleepy times- she's ever increasing her intake of solids, so I don't know why I'm 8 months behind schedule getting it back (it came back 10 months pp with my first who was still exclusively bf at that point). I am hoping that I will just get pg before then, but I also thought it would be nice to have a September baby, and now November is my earliest hope... I was hoping to get the next one further away from Christmas!

My first was 10 months ttc, the second was 9 months but was a m/c, then one month later, I got pg again, so with no cycle yet, I don't know what to expect!

It's hard to say as it is different for each woman & each pregnancy! With my son, I had been married for almost 6 months when I discovered I was 6 weeks pregnant.

When is your appt? Please keep us posted as we continue to pray for you!!! Hope things go well & that you'll be posting in the pregnancy thread before long :)

I really dont like the "one year" classification before looking into possible problems. If my doctors had waited "one year" I would not be carrying our babe right now, I'd still be heartbroken and struggling with what was "wrong" with me. And even though I am pregnant now, I can still relate to your struggles. I'm the last person in my "circle" to have gotten pregnant, even my SIL got pregnant and when they MET each other we had been trying for months...it stinks sometimes. Praying for all you ladies.

Thanks, Erin. That's what my doc is saying though...so I guess we'll have to wait a few more months if we're not successful on our own before then. I've started a good vitamin with calcium so hopefully that will help with the menses pain until conception.

Yeah, me too!

The thing is...this is the only doc that I have found here that actually listens to me & talks to me about things. The other docs around here made me wait for an hour or more in the waiting room & then tried to shove me out as quickly as possible once I got in to see the doc. This doc...I am usually being seen within 30 minutes (quicker if I have an appt.) & he answers any & all questions!!

Also...on the year classification...is that ONE year of trying...or is that 12 cycles?? Cuz my 12 cycles will be here a LOT sooner than my year of trying...

Hmmm...I dont know, good question. If it were me...since the 12 cycles is sooner...I'd go by that!

Glad your doctor listen to you and stuff, just wish he wasnt so legalistic in the one year thing. It really aggravates me when docs try to fit all women in a mold like that. Because you can have treatable problems well before a year. It just pains me that some women have to unnecessarily suffer.

the "struggling" thread is for anyone who feels that they are struggling. You don't have to have a doctor telling you anything, you just have to feel like you are personally currently struggling with it. That was the only thing "required" to post there. If you are struggling, then you belong. =)

I'm glad my doctor didn't make me wait a year after switching to him, or after my surgery. That would be, um, a bit much. I would ask your doctor again about how long he wants you to wait, and (this is me, but may not be right for you) I would ask him to please check my hormone levels, because I was concerned. That should tell you a bit. Plus, are you charting? That helps a bit... it helps to know if you are ovulating at least. =)

My doctor told me to come back to him in 6 months (after my surgery) if I wasn't pregnant. I actually waited longer than that, but I went when I felt the time was right for us.

Thanks for thinking of me- I still have NO idea what is going on. Today I started having very, very light nasty brown discharge (which I used to get the last day or so of my period). My cervix is still high but a little soft and my temps are not up Is pretty much how I feel. I go to the doctor next Thursday. I am hoping that the brown may be my cervix opening up to ovulate?? I don't know, it never did that before... Hello, my name is Jennifer...it has been 26 months since my last period...

Well, it seems to be a period, so I guess that's good and bad... I'll have to hope that having a *very happy* Easter will do the trick. I was hoping to avoid another one so close to Christmas, but at this point I don't care anymore...

Just to add to what Erin said, even if your doc wants you to wait until the 1 year mark, you can start charting ahead of time. We waited 1 1/2 years before asking for help to figure things out. After all that time they wanted me to chart for 3 months before doing anything else. It's really easy once you get into the habit - fertilityfriend.com was a lifesaver for me. Also, the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility was wonderful.

On another note, with God all things are possible. When we got to the 3 year mark I had to shift my thinking and accept that God may just have had other plans for us. Believe it or not, God finally brought me to a place of peace and total trust no matter what He decided - then He gave us our little miracle. It's amazing to me that our son is going to be born over 4 years after our plan to start a family. God had plans and a time of his own.

Ok gals...

I finally went to the Dr. this week... she took one look at my temp chart... her eyes got big and she said "wow... you're all over the place!".... greaaaaat.

She thinks (as I feared) I have PCOS. .... I started a little side-thread about it... I'm sad and worried.

Do you chart at the same time everyday?

Thanks, lily. I really do need to start charting. Even doc said to do that. Y'all said to get a basal thermometer to chart & I haven't found one of those though. Grrr...I really did look. Everything is digital nowadays....

ALSO: I'm so excited because DH & I are going away to a couples' retreat at the beach this weekend!! Please pray that we'll have safe traveling mercies. Pray for a great time of rejuvenation & for God to really speak to us. Please pray that we'll be able to conceive a child (maybe the change of scenery will help, LOL). Sorry if that's TMI...but...hey.....

It should really be a blast!!! And I cannot wait. We leave first thing tomorrow morning!

God bless,
Megan :)

Mine too. The ones I have seen are usually pink. Walgreens has them too. Mine also stores the last temp so you dont even have to really wake up, you can just record it later!

yeah, my walmart doesn't carry basal thermometers, but my walgreens did. It did take me 3 tries to get one that worked though. They were great, and just kept taking it back and exchanging it. =)

You want digital anyway.. it's MUCH easier to read when you are barely awake. =) Plus, my hubby does it for me, and I tend to fall asleep again before the therm. beeps that it's done. He thinks that's funny, but then again... it shows him just how tired I am. =)

Charting is not hard. It does take a certain amount of dedication though. Fertilityfriend.com makes it much easier. Reading the book is good... see if your library has it. =)

My local library doesn't have the book; however, some of the outlying libraries do (like 20-30 miles away). Just not sure when I'll get to one of them to pick it up & then to return it. I know that sounds bad, but it's the truth!!! We'll probably order it from Wal-Mart as they offer site to store delivery. Either that or find it cheap on eBay.

I'll have to look at Wal-Mart to see what they have. Our Wal-Mart is fairly new & doesn't seem to have a lot of stuff (sometimes). I did look at Rite Aid & they didn't have a digital thermometer

We're really praying the weekend away will help us in more ways than one!

That is a good thing & a bad thing. Hope things work out. I'm not real thrilled about the possibility of a December baby either; however, I am NOT going to be picky cuz if that when God chooses to bless us...we will gladly receive the blessing!!!

Somehow I overlooked this post earlier. I am really sorry, hun.

Yes, I'm charting-by-alarm clock. (except for this morning when DH hit his snooze button and proceded to get out of bed without turning his alarm off! So when it went off again, I, in my groggy-stupor, was floppign all over trying to figure out what was going off... by the time I thought "Oh! my thermometer!"... it was too late. )

All that is to say... yes, I really am as messed up as my chart says I am...

Hi ladies,

I am not officially TTC because of some sexual aversion issues that need to be resolved first. (I have a thread on that if you are really interested).

Today, we actually made love, and I am relatively close to my fertile time, at least according to the informal chart in my head.

I wondered...when TTC, does a woman still promptly go the the bathroom after sex? I understand that to be good form because it prevents UTI's (and, for me, messy pantiliners). But, going to the bathroom drains out the semen, so maybe during this time, women don't pee right after sex. If that is what you do, does it get messy?

I'm hoping this question isn't too personal or blunt. It's a TTC thread, so I figure you are pretty okay with body fluids and such, much like we are in the NFP thread.

Thanks,
Michelle

Michelle, I can only speak for myself, but when I have a 0-6 month baby, I make sure to get to the bathroom quickly after. Once I reach the point that I feel mentally ready for another baby, I lay down longer after. No idea if it works, but it makes sense to me.

from what I know... from doctors and articles... it is recommended that you wait atleast 30 min. to go to the bathroom. It's not so bad to just wait that long. =)

Well, hurrah! Between our finishing at different times and snuggling, I definitely waiting half an hour before going to the bathroom.

Excellent use of that precious fluid!

Thanks for the answers. I think I will unsubscribe now. I will be really sad reading about TTC when I'm really just trying to have sex. Hopefully, I can come join you soon :)

This weekend was a blast....except for one thing: I started experiencing mid-cycle bleeding. Currently, I am experiencing twinges. I am not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing. The reading I did online said it could have several causes: (1) ovulation is impending, (2) hormones are out of whack, (3) fibroids, (4) possible PCOS.

Honestly I don't know what it is; however, I will be calling tomorrow to make an appointment as soon as I can get in to figure out what the deal is. I told DH I will also be asking the doc to check my hormone levels (as this is one possible cause).

The only time I have had mid-cycle bleeding was years ago prior to TTC when I was using birth control. At that point, it was break through bleeding & perfectly normal.

Please pray that I'll be able to get an appointment soon & that my doctor will have some answers for DH & I.

The question of the day....is....to test or not to test??!?!

I'm putting this here because I want ANYONE to feel free to answer it!

I used to be a 28-29 day lady....until I switched to 26-27 days about a year or so ago.....

Last cycle began on the 26th of February. Tomorrow will be 4 weeks after that day....usually I would have started cycling by now (should have started yesterday). This cycle has been SO weird though.....

I'm due for that biopsy of the uterine lining (can't do it if we're pg....or it isn't recommended). Wasn't worried about it when the doc scheduled it last week as I was pretty sure we weren't expecting with the problems I have had this month.

I don't want to get our hopes up. And like I said...this cycle has been SO weird (not like my others at all)...

So...I'm wondering if it is because I am expecting....or if it's just another sign of the PCOS that doctor is pretty sure I have (as many women stop cycling with that, right?).

Any thoughts?
