I did just check out what tlims was saying and I do believe she could very well be the winner of the smallest town. It looks like wildlife may be her closest neighbor.

Probably not...I know I said I liked them because they're "cool"...but I dont' want the other kind of cool for a houseboat.

I can't remember what the exact temp they said is predicted for tomorrow here...all I can remember is what they said the windchill factor is going to be. -20!

I don't even want to think about the windchill... the wind blew out my heater's pilot light this morning... it's an old timer & I'm not sure how to light it myself... handy man's comin' this evenin'.

Now Maine isn't too big (although biggest of all the New England States) People can be found fairly easily.

Well, the cities aren't likely to get lost in, but it would be possible in the wilderness of towns like "Lobster Township" and "Big Twenty Township-T20-R11 & R12 West of the Easterly Line of the State"

As far as my city, I just put the nearest one... my town is too small to list, and I could be found if I put it up. There's no getting lost in my town, though if it does happen, you might end up in a cow pasture somewhere.

LOL!! I swear I have never been cow-tipping. That's not something we do here. But you can see millions of stars out on a clear night. And it's some of the most beautiful country you've ever seen. (not bragging, just stating the facts. )

Me neither! But we used to talk about doin' it in H.S. all the time! My hometown was in the middle of corn, wheat, & soy bean fields & my uncle had a dairy farm. I also used to go to a farm to gather our own eggs w/ my Grammy & Pappa. So although I lived in town... we were slightly country folk.

We don't have any fields around here, except for some hay fields. We do have orange groves, though. We have cow pastures, but those are rapidly disappearing. They just took down a dairy farm and are going to put a major shopping center there... even bigger than the two shopping centers immediately surrounding it. But we're still too small for a Starbucks.

My parents both grew up on farms, so I know how to gather eggs, milk a goat, etc. I prefer to be close to the city, but far enough out to see some pretty land.

Hey GNM...I have to say your picture on the map is throwing me off. I had you pictured with very dark hair. Now I'll have to retrain my brain. The color of your hair is very beautiful though.

the small town thing...

where I live is actually 2 towns, so if you were to actually look at it, just south of the high school track is the line between the 2 towns.

so if you want a count ~ Burns is the "big" one w/ 2,000 & Hines is the "small" one w/ 1,000 or we can combine it and say 3000. Now if you want to count the cattle, the deer, the quail, the rattlesnakes, the cougars or .......
yeah, it's way, way more.

p.s. Burns is one of the few towns that they actually put on a globe ~ why? don't know. I haven't figured out, but it is a fact...

LabGuy,

Is that even if you only use a first name or a username?

That is my question too..how it is possible ?

Iam not worry just curious to know how that is possible.

If your username is unique to these forums, you're probably safe. Same if your first name is a common one.

I don't want to go into too much detail, but if anything you put on here (including your username) is on some other page on the Internet, that other page can probably be found, along with whatever other info is on it. (It can take as little as two items in common to come up with other pages associated with you.)

If your curiosity still isn't satisfied, PM me. (We don't want to educate any would-be stalkers who might be lurking. )

If I noticed correctly, you've deleted yourself from the map. Is the security issue that serious?

I'm back on it now... just changed my location to a nearby town. Still shows everybody pretty close to where I am but throws a monkey wrench into any search to pinpoint me.

I'm just a little paranoid is all.

Your avatar shows it!...

If I listed a major city (4th (arguably 3rd) largest in the nation) without an address, I'm safe...right?

Aw, Beaker only looks like that 'cause he gets blown up every five minutes by Dr. Honeydew.

I think you're perfectly safe. It's just that some of us have, er, breadcrumbs scattered on the Internet. Too many in one spot and the trail becomes too easy to follow.

Honestly, I'm not trying to discourage use of this map! I think it's way cool. I'm just saying be careful is all.

Hi, Gayle. If you follow the link on the first page, you'll go to the map. Just enter your information and you'll be there. It's pretty easy.

I agree that we should be careful not to make it too easy to be found. Sometimes we get carried away. I figure if someone I know comes on here, there's enough information for them to figure out it's me. I'm ok with that. But if for some strange reason someone wanted to stalk me, I don't want to make it easy. It's especially important to remember that we can give references to our location if we want, but should be careful not to actually type out the name of our city (such as Atlanta). If someone were to do an internet search on my screen name and Atlanta, or just Atlanta, this page would come up.

Boston proper has 560,000 people in it and Greater Boston over 4,000,000! It would be pretty hard to track me down in general.

I missed this earlier, Veronica. Thank you, ladies.

Veronica, I've been meaning to agree with the UPS guy (or was it the Fed Ex guy) who said you have gorgeous eyes. And Shema, it's great to finally "see" you.

(Oh, and if y'all see any typos, I'm having to type one-handed tonight... kitty is dead-weight in the other arm.
