Go Phil's! I'm glad they are doing well because it takes my mind off the stupid Eagles!

Ugh! Two of my least favorite National League teams in the NLCS. Here's hoping the Rays make it so I have somebody to cheer for (and I'm an NL fan.)

It is almost like the Cubs gave up.

The Dodgers were a joy to watch!

I am surprised that the Angels managed to last another day at Fenway, given the number of baserunners stranded

Well, they are gone now. There goes for my hopes of a Dodger/Angel World Series!

I am just shocked in what is happening in the playoffs so far. Two of the contenders are gone (In The Cubbies and Angels). Hopeing the Dodgers make it to the series though. But should be interesting to see how they do against the phillies.

In the AL I just can't cheer for the Red Sox cause I am a Yankee Fan but feel they are going to be a tough team to knock out.

That's okay, being a Mets fan, I'll cheer twice as hard to make up.

Wow, this postseason has turned into a giant snooze-o-rama. I'm not gonna pull for the Red Sox because their lovable loserability has worn off. So I think I'm gonna pull for the Rays for paritys sake.

Can't believe how the Phillies got rocked tonight. Didn't watch the game but followed it online. Now both series are getting interesting. Hope The Dodgers and Rays can pull it out.

The Dodgers loss last night puts them in quite a bind...

Looks like whoever is broadcasting the Series is going to be disappointed. Barring a miracle, the 2 smallest markets will be represented (Philly and Tampa Bay).

Not yet for the Rays. The Sox never give up period. Even if they ultimately lose, no one can take away their heart.

After last night's comeback I'd have to say you're right. Coming back from 7 against a team that was 38-0 when up 5 is pretty amazing. I honestly didn't think they had it in them.

it was a good comeback. it's just one game though. seems the players had more heart than their many many fans who left the game early. even if the red sox still lost last night, i wouldn't say they gave up or didn't have heart. another team just got the breaks.

Being a Sox fan I was so happy. This team does it so often. They came back from a 3 games to 1 deficit last year against Cleveland. And then they lose 9-1, 13-4 and are losing 7-0 in the 7th and to come back to win, I'm so proud to be a Sox fan.

I don't think Terry Francona gets enough credit for being a great manager. He was the skipper when the Sox made up that 3 games to zero deficit verses the Yankees in 2004 (I think only Ortiz, Varitek and Wakefield were on that team and are still there). That kind of grit comes from the top. And Francona is a class act, in sharp contrast to the coach of the area's professional football team (whom I am also a fan of).

I do live near Tampa now so I gotta give the Rays props. No question in my mind Joe Madden is the manager of the year and the Rays have much to be proud of, even if they go no further (which is still unlikely, they have two games at home). I was reconciled to a Rays World Series before Pedrroia's hit in the 7th and that would have been just fine with me.

Could be Coach of the Century. Did you see the graphic on number of games won per season by the Rays? They've never won more than 66 games in a season before this year. This year they won 97. That's an incredible improvement.

I do love my Red Sox, and since we live near Philly now, it would be great to see a Sox-Philly series. I would like to see the Sox win, but the Rays have played incredibly well, and I have no reason to dis-like them.

Since I watch ESPN and live in the Tampa area it is very hard between the two to not know about their turnaround. It is a great story for those who live in Tampa, for those who love baseball as it shows the small market teams can do it and people who root for the underdog.

I have to root for the Sox but if they have to lose I won't mind (too much) if it is to the Rays.

I didn't think the Sox would lose a game 7 but they did. So I'm the first here to say congrats to the Rays and being a Tampa native Go RAYS!!!* What a story. Worst to first. If the Bucs can maintain their level of play it may be a great year for Tampa sports.

* Now that my Sox can't win.

BTW: Congrats to the Sox also (though obviously not as much) as they came back from a 3-1 deficit in games and a 7-0 deficit in the 7th inning to force a game 7 and had the tying run at the plate.

Also I just wrote something in my MySpace blog about how the Tampa Bay area has wanted a team. Its not as well written as I would have liked (its late) and it may not be completely accurate in the minor details (as I did it from memory, I lived here near Tampa during these times) but it makes the point all the same.

I do remember how much the media in this area wanted a team. For years the Tampa Bay area pursued Major League Baseball. The dome in St. Pete was built years before the Rays were "born". I remember when the White Sox were going to move here. It was a done deal, the White Sox were about to move but a last minute decision from the Illinois legislature (not sure if it was city or state) gave the White Sox what they wanted and so they stayed. Actually the deadline had passed but in Chicago politics that's no problem, they just reset the clocks. The Giants were going to come, a Tampa based group was going to buy them and move them but the sale went to a local San Francisco owner instead. The Twins were also going to come but didn't. And then the Miami area got a team before we did and that team, the Marlins, won two World Series. It was a fight just to get a team and through it all this level of success was their dream. It looked like it would never happen, between the lack of money and lack of sense from the people who ran the Rays. The finances are still a challenge but they are running the team very well now. so GO RAYS!!!

Okay, so I had my post in Singles before yours, but that's okay. I don't come into this thread - ever.

I live less than 5 miles from the Trop. This is a great day for St Petersburg!
