Alexandrite, Knew, and Own... I also have pearls, but don't think either one represents me well. I should have been a July baby.

The only birthstone jewelry I've ever owned was a fake emerald in my high school class ring. I really liked that ring, but it was stolen when my house was broken into in 2000. My jewelry box was stolen, and my class ring was the only valuable thing in it, so I'm sure the thief wasn't too happy, but probably not as unhappy as I was!

Oh, my! Me, too! On all counts! I just bought a new ring with a red stone -- not a ruby, though. I have three rings with red stones among my jewelry items.

Mine's a sapphire, and I have a piece of jewelry with my birthstone, and the kids' (Emerald & Sapphire) and my hubby's (Pearl).

My birthday is in June, so that makes my stone Alexandrite (Pearl), according to the list. I didn't know that before and I had to look up alexandrite to see what it was. Apart from my wedding ring, I don't own any jewelry that couldn't be bought for under 5 bucks at Walmart, so no, I don't own anything with my birthstone.

Mine is sapphire (September). I did know that. I have a ring with a small sapphire that my aunt bought me when I was 12 or so- I think I still have it, even though it doesn't fit anymore.

I so enjoy my birthstone, amethyst. One of my favorite stories is about a necklace I was admiring. It came is several colors and m'love asked me which color I liked best. I told him that I didn't expect him to buy the necklace for me. He told me, "that is not what I asked. I asked what color do you like best." I wear it proudly and often.

my 2nd favorite is turquoise.

I knew what my color was. I did not know what his color was. Interestingly, he really likes burgandy and red and his stone is the ruby.

I am a diamond and the only piece of jewelry I own with one is my wedding ring. I don't wear much jewelry.

My households stone colors are Christmas colors: hubby and I are diamond-white
oldest dd is peridot-light green
little dd is garnet-red

Too fun!!!

Mine is Garnet. I had several pieces of birthstone jewelry when I was growing up. The only piece I still own is the purity ring (True Love Waits ring) my parents gave me when I was 13. It has an oval-shaped garnet in it and is engraved on the inside of the ring.

Now I rarely wear jewelry.

I'll admit I've never tried it. I don't like rings on my pinkie.

I have an October birthday and my whole life I have used the pink zircon as my birthstone (not the opal....I don't know when that started being "the October birthstone"). (Not a fan of opals for birthstone jewelry.)

That being said, I don't think I own anything with MY birthstone anymore (used to have a necklace or two as a young girl, from my mom, with a pink zircon).

I do have a pretty, matching necklace and earrings with my husband's and son's birthstones (that Crystal made me -- thanks, Crys!), and I also bought THE MOST BEAUTIFUL RING with a twilight topaz (Nov. birthstone, not sure about the "twilight" part, but the topaz part) (okay, I spent some serious bucks on that ring)...I love that ring. So beautiful. I bought that when I turned 40 as a birthday present to myself.

Mine is pearl/alexandrite/moonstone (June). I did know what it was and own some pieces that are pearls, freshwater ones; although, I don't wear them much.

I'm not sure neither; but when I was growing up (and I'm almost 45), my adoptive mother (who was also my maternal grandmother) always wore opals as her birthstone (October).

I'm not entirely sure about this point neither . . . but I also think that there is another birthstone for November (in addition to the topaz).

There are two different birthstone lists that float around...that may be why the differences of opinion/experiences....

To answer the poll -according to that list (which is the more commonly used one), my birthstone is topaz (a goldish coloer)...but some November people cheat a little and use the blue topaz...I personally want a ring with both..the gold would match my hair and the blue would match my eyes.

Mine is Peridot (August). And I like the color. Green is my favorite color, anyway!!!!

The only jewelry I have with that stone is my class ring.

I'm August too and I hate mine. I did get in my hs class ring though and it's a pretty cut. It doesn't look very green and it's cut so that you see lots of rainbows in it.

I love freshwater pearls too... esp chocolate brown and black ones.

I've seen blue topaz used a lot for December, instead of a blue zircon... but never for November. That one I've only seen yellow topaz or citrine.

I've mostly seen blue topaz for December. I thought June was diamond so that would make zircon a little redundant, color-wise. When I was little I saw turquoise also used for December in some places.

No, I don't have any jewelry in any of those colors, but I think my grandmother gave me a statue with turquoise in it when I was in grade school (for a birthstone). I don't really wear jewelry.

My stone is Aquamarine and I knew that and have a ring with it. As for Opal and October my Grandmother used Opal as her October birthstone. She was born in 1896!!

Well, a lot of the jewelry stores here have the blue topaz labeled as
November (along with the gold)...it doesn't really matter though...because I think people can wear whatever jewelry they decide is pretty, it doesn't have to be limited to their birthstone, but I do still want a birthstone ring (yes with the gold stone....though I still think the gold and the blue together would be pretty).

I have a sister born in April, and it always annoyed her that her birthstone was the same as the typical wedding ring stone.

I knew mine before the poll.
I put that I do own jewelery with my birthstone, but now that I think about it, none of them are real.

My birthstone is garnet. I've only owned one real garnet and it was stolen when I went in to have a C-section with my 3rd child. I left it in my jewelery box with my wedding ring and took that to a neighbor's house. Her dd ran away that morning with my rings.

I've only tried once to get a garnet since then, it was when I wanted a ring with it. My soon-to-be ex gave me a ring with a pink Sapphire. I wanted a garnet, but the major company we went through wouldn't deal with garnets because they are too soft of a stone to have a lifetime guaranty.
