That would be great!!! Isaac has made SUCH progress & I know you have to be ready to have him at home. The time has flown since he was born; however, I know it has to have seemed like an eternity to you & Klay.

ORIGINAL: landabee Martyrdom is not required to reach heaven, no matter what the naysayers say. My DS(age 21) said to me just this very day, as I was somewhat stubbornly holding on to a bit of an attitude, "You know, mom, you can keep on playing the martyr if you want to, but the bad thing about being a martyr, you have to die to be one." So ask yourself this---is it worth dying for? If not, let it go. Since when did this kid get so smart??? Amazing, isn't it, since I was a working-outside-the-home-mom for the majority of his life. And he went to public school, too.

My kidlets have been public schooled and private schooled at different times. When ds#1 was really being rebellious...we considered homeschooling. But decided against it as it would be too much of a reward for poor behaviour and a release from the very things/rules that he refused to follow. I just don't get how folks get all bent regarding how someone else educates their kids. But I digress........... I am at work today. I'm totally wiped. This past week I had four folks at my home from Louisiana. They came to wait out Gustav. They left Saturday afternoon. It was good to see them, but that was a long visit. Sadly, they may have to come back. But if so, they are welcome. Anyway, spent the rest of the weekend catching up on getting the house back in order. (washing sheets/pillows, mopping, etc.) And last night until almost midnight catching up with my homework. Yep, I 'm whipped.

Yes ma'am, I really needed that 2-door car that I drove for 16 years, even when DS was almost too tall to even get into the back seat; the two weekend trips we took during a 10 year span; and those clothes from Wal-Mart!!

[more sarcasm] I can't believe you bought your clothes at Walmart? What were you thinking? You could have worn sackcloth if you stayed at home... [off] I know I'm carrying it a bit to far. DeeDee once offended a SAHM by saying she didn't work. SAHM tattled to me. Umm, DeeDee was 10, she was the adult. And, in context, what she said was that SAHM could plan an activity since she wasn't working during the day. We joke about eating bon-bons, even when we take the day off. It is funny, if I ask a SAHM what she did today it is an insult, but if I ask my hubby, I care about the day.

ORIGINAL: landabee (((((((Yolanda))))))))) I'm sorry that you are dealing with this. Do you have a union? Nope, just a bunch of catty women. I finally emailed the HR manager and said that I couldn't get ahold of the other manager and could she please find out who my supervisor was going to be. She wrote back right away, and my new supervisor called me later in the day. I'm really pleased with where they placed me, it's the department and supervisor that I would have chosen if I couldn't go back to my old job. So that's good. We also worked out that I will take an extra week of vacation before I go back, because i have 4 weeks to use before January. So now my return to work is the 22nd. I must admit, I have enjoyed being home the last year, and I'm looking forward to work rather reluctantly. Chase is going to a daycare. A lady used to keep children in her home, but loved it so much she went and got her early childhood education degree and bought a house, renovated it into a daycare and just opened it this summer. She's really great, and one of the girls that works there I graduated high school with, and she's a sweetheart too. I really like that the province here has rules on how often they have to go outside, etc. I really would have liked to put him in an in-home daycare, but I don't know how I feel about putting him with somebody I don't know. At least at daycare there's 6+ workers, and if something were to happen, there would at least be a witness... kwim? Anyway, I am going to go fill out all my daycare papers!

Ladies, I promise you can ask me what I did with my day any time you want, and I won't be insulted! It'll help keep me on my toes. So far it's 8:45am and, I've folded a load of clothes, swept and mopped the kitchen floor, taken out the trash, put away the dishes, and "wasted" time here on CW. But I must admit, I am still in my PJ's, so off to shower I go!

Well, here is my worry for today. DeeDee is home sick. Hands down, my kids have had more sick days when I working than the did when I didn't. WHY? When I have a kid home sick they can lay down in bed, lay down on the couch, and sleep or read school books. Feel well enough to chase your sib - watch tv - go outside? Go to school or do housework. I have driven kids to school at lunchtime. When POPPA has a kid home sick, he takes several naps while the kids watch movies and then he gives them permission to be on the computer. The way I used to work, I could not stay home. Now, I could if I had my desk modestly cleared - I offered to come a 11am. Poppa can use his sick time, I have to use vacation. Why am I worried? DeeDee is home sick. I don't think this is an exaggeration, but criminy's it is the 3rd week of school. Poppa would like to put in for a promotion and they will look at his ability to be THERE a certain times and the amount of leave he has used. Last night, he told DeeDee, who was eating cobbler and swinging and on the merry-go-round a half hour before that he would take off if she was sick in the morning. Umm - take a pepto (whatever we have for the kids) and drink some WATER. Get up and go to the bathroom and take it from there. Now, she woke up in the storm and said her tummy still hurt and was crying, so in hindsight it is unlikely my plan would have helped, but it probably wouldn't have HURT.

I still say her problem is too much starch. Pizza Saturday. Macaroni & potatos Sunday, More Pizza and Cobbler Monday. That isn't ALL she ate. Birthday cake, times two. Cookies. Hotdog on a bun. There was sourkraut and pork. Veggies and Salads and Fruit. I'm still thinking that drinking a cup of warm water would have helped. I called - she is complaining there is nothing on TV, Poppa was napping. Hey - It is only 65% of our income and what keeps a roof over our head, I'm not worried. Sideways - in your spare time, could you get my kitchen floor clean? Plan about 4 Scout events and put away my clothes? :)

I'm sorry, too, mommabee. I hope your girl recovers quickly. Mommabee, I hope that was tongue in cheek! I know you were only kidding. Believe me, I'm well aware that having a job outside the house means that you have to pack a lot of stuff into a small period of free time. Don't know I'd be good at scouting events, it's been a long time since I wore the green uniform myself! But it is a bummer that your hubby's promotions will depend on leave used. I'm assuming he's only using the benefits given to him when he started the job, but actually using the sick or vacation time given to him might hurt his chances for promotion? On some level I understand it, but it sucks. No wonder Americans are so overworked. We get the least sick/vacation time of anybody, and we get punished for using what little we're given.

I was thinking... I have a little less than two weeks before I go back to work, and I was wondering if I should make some meals and freeze them. They probably wouldn't last very long, but they would probably help in the first few transitioning weeks. Hmm, I wonder if I can get on that. The biggest problem is we're in the middle of a reno project, our house is moved, and all of my fridge and freezer contents are down at my MIL's. I suppose I could go pick up some stuff though. Thoughts?

Yolanda, I've kept some meals for over a month, but just prepared, not cooked. Take lasagna for instance, get it all ready, just don't cook it. Have it well sealed up, then you should be good to go for a while.
