Hey ya'll...

Daughter-I live in Fountain, so I guess SWish..lol. What part of KS? I took the children out to Wichita August of 2007 for a little vacation. It was a fun week. I want to go back there again. Yes you really can have a great vacation, vacationing at a not so vacationy place. I made that up all by myself..giggles.

PatricksPeaches-I am so sorry to hear about your situation. Just know that God is still in control, and he WILL provide you with what you need. I can't say that I blame you about him coming around unannounced. I wish that my ex didn't do it. But he does..grrrr.

Kylie-How are you feeling today angel? Did you hear anything about the project you were concerned about?

Not the first-Congratulations on quitting your job and looking for something better in starting your own business. It isn't always the easiest thing to do when you have to make a hard decision, but I am sure you will be richly blessed with the outcome. Out of curiosity, what kind of business?

Hey all.......... finally got back telephone and internet.

T.S. Fay has been here since Monday........and is making herself comfortable. So far we have over 13 inches of rain. We are expected to get up to thirty before it's done.

The storm has stalled over us. Lots of flooding and flash flooding. The sewer system is overloaded.

There are CATFISH in the streets. :o

We are safe, though and dry. Our home is built up a small incline, so I doubt water will get in the house.

We have cabin fever, but otherwise are okay. Everything is shut down tomorrow too........they are calling it day by day.

Please pray that the storm will weaken and move. It's been over head for over 24 hours with continuous rain.

Thanks.

I'm still sick.

J is home sick again too, with instructions from the doctor that if he's still getting feverish by this afternoon to bring him back in. Yesterday, J had an ultrasound on his throat because one of his lymph nodes is all swollen. Doctor thought it might be an abcess. Today, both are swollen.

And dh ran into the back of someone yesterday (no damage to their vehicle thankfully) and cracked his radiator on their towbar. Someone had lost a load of oranges on the road and dh went to brake and couldn't get traction.

Ah well, God is good. At least, with me being home sick, dh has a vehicle he can use.

Yay for servers!! It'll be fine, Nicole. Time will tell if they will work out. My para started today and I'm not entirely too sure about her (she missed bringing the kids to my room the first time & she didn't bring a lunch) so we'll see how it goes!

I'm still doing interviews for paras here....gotta have 2 more...at least!

One of these days I will get things worked out for a schedule...right now I'm just trying to get it all juggled around for school schedule & home/personal schedule.

Hey Bee, I made my son read your post and then 'report' it to his father. (it is a broading the horizons, see news first hand thing)

He sung a ditty about why he is glad he doesn't live in FLA. You know, there is something neat about his baritone (not quite bass yet) singing about no catfish on the street.

Kylie - may I say that also rots.

I can't believe there are jobs that can't be filled.

They've now taken blood and are testing J for Mumps, among other things.

MBee, we often get unfillable jobs at work. Employers have a set idea of who/what they want in the person they're going to hire and sometimes we have to massage their perceptions to the reality of who/what is available to them.

And then there's my actual job (or a part of it anyway) - convincing 17yos, who've only ever worked in McDonalds, who believe that they can get a job which will pay them $60/hr for unskilled labour that they actually need to set their sights a little closer to their capabilities.

Praying for you, landabee. I'm up in Tallahassee and we're sitting here waiting for ol' Fay now. Funny thing is we were supposed to have a large outdoor community event last night but on Monday they were projecting Fay would be here, so we moved it to Sunday. Now it looks like Fay will be here on Friday instead . Oh well, I know the Lord has a purpose behind our moving this shindig. I'm curious to see what it is.

Kylie - I read the conversation about the MMR vaccine. My Measles portion wore off (not sure if I mean measles or the rubella, it is close enough for this conversation) and I need to get it re-done. And have known this for 15 years.

I was checked when I was carrying BigBee but I refused the shot because they couldn't tell me if it was safe with breastfeeding and that I could not be around someone getting Chemo. I knew I would be around his aunt, so nope. Then, with DeeDee being in the PICU the sending hospital said the receiving hospital may not let me in - couple that with the fact I was threatening to leave AMA and the shot was skipped. Now, when I ask my perferred provider they look at me like I'm nuts - no one knows what to give me.

Kylie, praying for your son. If at all possible, keep him lying down as much as possible. Just in case it is mumps. Mumps can do mean things in little boys.

Fay is the rudest thing! Overstays her welcome here.........knowing she has a date there.

And yes, it is STILL raining, although not as hard.

Cabin.

Fever..

When I was pregnant with J, dh got rubella and I had to stay with my parents for two weeks. I felt like a really sympathetic wife, dh got sick and I ran home to Mum and Dad.

How horrible am I that even when he's not contagious, I'd like to run home to my mum and dad when DH is sick? He's a worse whiner than the kids! But I love that man and he's an amazing provider, so I stick it out.

Having had three days off work sick this week I got a little bit of cabin fever. I'd had a hairdresser's appt set for this morning for the past three week. I went a little crazy. Don't get me wrong, it looks great, but there is no way I'd normally go for copper and chocolate streaks through my already bright red hair.

It does look good though. And dh's reaction absolutely made it worth it.

I can't imagine what they're going to say at work on Monday though. I take three days off work and come back with an extremely different do. As long as they realise that I waited until Saturday to do it, alls fine.

Yeah, I hear you there, Kylie, are you feeling better now? It's hard to be at home sick & have sick kids....if your employer gives you grief. Have they been pretty good about it? I know my current boss wouldn't say anything, but the last one sure did. This boss is SO cool. One of my co-workers needed to use part of a personal day for an appt. Boss didn't bat an eye, just started asking about who we had to sub for the class.

I've got to figure out a new hairdo. Planning on cutting it. DH suggested the other day that highlights might look good (it's an idea I've been toying with for a LONG time but hadn't mentioned). I do want my hair to look a little more professional, but still be long (as that's MY style). Most of us work outside the home...so what's a good do for that & for personal/mommy/wifey business? (DH would "shoot" me if my hair was shorter than my shoulders).....

I wish I knew! I have bone straight hair that I wear shoulder-length. I have it cut in long layers so that it frames my face a bit. I like the look of shorter layers, but then I'd have to blowdry and curl it. I do not do my hair, so that a no go. Anything more than wash it and brush it and I just don't have the time or patience for it.

I'm thinking of coloring mine today. I found a box of Chocolate Cherry coloring that I bought a couple of months ago. We're stuck in the house all day since Fay's arrived, so that would be one thing to keep me busy... besides the overwhelmingly large piles of laundry.

Your hair sounds similar to mine, Kat. It's long & straight. Baby fine stuff too....

And I don't spend a ton of time on it, so washing & brushing sounds good to me! Chocolate Cherry, eh? That sounds kind of good....to eat So it's a reddish brown?

Colorado, somehow I missed your post about where you live (until now...sorry). I'm in SW Kansas. Why not vacation at some place that's not vacationy? I know there are people that will come here for vacation....

My idea of a vacation is beaching it or something Well...anything that doesn't involve dirt or wind.

For those who have been stuck inside by Fay...wow. I couldn't even imagine. We rarely get rain so when we do it's either in the form of thunderstorm (over very quickly) or it's just a very slow spit.
Landabee....so Fay moved up to Kat. Are things able to dry out where you are at now?

I think my manager will be fine. Our assistant manager is a bit more antsy about stuff. I think she takes a lot more stuff personally than our manager does, so if someone misses work it really affects how she feels.

DOF, do you have naturally curly or straight hair, or something in between?

Kat, for no hassle styling, I like wax. It holds the shape of the hair once it's dry without a heap of effort to get it into shape in the first place. Just stick a blob of it in your hands (and that's a very small blob), rub it around and then work it through your hair.

Anything which took me more than five minutes to do would so not be worth it in the morning when I also have two children to get to school and mail and newspapers to pick up on my way into work before I even get on the premises. I have a good selection of clips and I love my mousse, wax and hairspray.

I usually wear my hair up for work. I put it in one of those clips where your hair comes out over the top. I don't like it in my face when I'm working, but that's a personal thing. I think that as long as you take some time to style it before leaving home in the morning there is nothing wrong with wearing your hair down.

With my new colour I will probably wear it up a lot more, and leave wearing it down (where the colours are really noticeable) for when I'm out having fun with family and friends. Besides the foils underneath look really cool when it's pulled up.

On the up side of such a radical change, my boss can't say a thing about it as the assistant manager I mentioned earlier and one of the other staff members have purple streaks in their hair (mine's just several inches longer than theirs).

Oops, cross post, just caught where you said what type of hair you have DOF.

And yes, I'm feeling much better, still a little sniffly and sore around the sinuses, but much improved and breathing easier too.

Yep, that is true that they can't say anything about your hair then!

My hair is naturally straight...so very straight. (We crossposted...LOL).

I have long and straight hair as well. I used to do layers, but it doesn't look unless it is curled and I don't have time for that. I accidently grew my bangs out and now I wear a barrett up on top of my head to keep them off my face. I can do a headband or just wear it down. I use that fruitis wax stuff if it will be down and it gives it enought lift to keep it back. I don't like washing it every day so it is usually down one day and up the next.

That must be nice. Mines so oily that I have to wash it every day or it's a greasy, stringy, nasty mess.

Are you sure we aren't sisters?

That's pretty close to an accurate description of my hair if it isn't washed every single day.

I'm thinking of adding some layers to add some volume.

I know we've talked about this some previously. Do y'all make meals & freeze them for later in the week? I've been debating about doing this, but I wasn't entirely sure what kind of meals to fix. Pasta doesn't freeze well for me & I've had poor success with freezing enchiladas previously. Thoughts? Or does anyone have tips to make these items freeze better?

I remember early in the thread us talking about this, too.

About re-heating, I have the best taste and texture results if I reheat in the microwave.

Something about throwing some items back into the oven makes them taste "off".

Have I been cooking ahead? Of course not.

Still hoping to get back to it, though.

That's funny because I think that almost everything out of the microwave tastes funny and rubbery.

As for freezing meals, I would freeze them uncooked which would help with the reheating issue.
