My Brother-in-law used to work for a scrap yard. It wasn't unusual for the Sheriff to come around and alert them of stolen copper. On new home development sites, thieves would go into a home and steal the copper plumbing. It's crazy. Anyway, at the scrap yard... they would eventually show up with the goods, the sheriff or police would be called and the culprits would be arrested. They even lost a couple of folks that worked at the yard for stealing grounding lines off railroad tracks.

Around here there's plenty of abandoned buildings, so they're the prime target. For a while, somebody was actually stealing man-hole covers. Now that's dangerous for the next guy that comes along.

Well, I don't have the materials yet, but the description says "---a marriage-centered Bible study experience for individuals and couples". Link And I would think that it would be good for anyone who is married, engaged or wants to be. Even kids in their teens would benefit from it IMHO. Have you seen the movie?

Oh yes, my sister owns it and I have borrowed it a few times. It's one of the reasons I want to check out the book itself (to see everything the movie left out) and the reason I want to try out the study.

I'm looking forward to reviewing the material and seeing what all it entails. Hopefully there will be interest in it at church.

I got a little irritated earlier with several inferences posted about men in general in the Marriage forum. I didn't appreciate how a few of these ladies seemed to be categorizing men into lustful porn-mongers (that's the impression I got). Well, I made my point(s) and was, as I expected, became the food in a feeding frenzy amongst a whole lot of irate women. I'm not asking ya'll to read it but, what I am asking, is - if you do: was I too harsh or presumptuous in my statements? I'm thinking I should have just left it alone and let them have their slam-fest.

Appreciate the input. I think I'll just stay out of that sub forum for awhile - especially when that topic comes up. I had two daughter too. Both are grown and gone now but I do recall several times when I bowed out to the garage (no pun intended).

Obviously it is a sensitive topic for them but I did not get the impression that they were zinging men in general. So, IMHO, you were presumptuous in taking it that way. Everybody gets a turn at being the "bad guy" in here. Don't sweat it.

ORIGINAL: rayofson Sometimes the garage is a good thing. Yes, I think you could have been much more tactful in your responses. It seemed as if all that you were accomplishing was to add fuel to the flames. Had you been more tactful, that may have helped you get your point across. Once antagonized, people are less likely to listen with an open mind. Many years ago, I had a conversation with Fritz (Fritzpw_Admin, the forums administrator). His recommendations about whether or not to get involved in heated discussions in the forums was: "Do not engage." And that advice has served me well over the years. I tend to stay away from hot debates, and am loathe to throw in two cents where I feel it would be a lost cause. And I am much happier that way. And you're always welcome here in the garage. That is very good advice I must say myself!
