I've only bought a few things off of ebay. The most expensive item was $750. So far there has only been one transaction that I wasn't too happy with, and that was only for about $20, so it was easy to write off.

$20 with a $18 "handling" charge?
Took me an hour yesterday to find the podiums at a good price that included shipping. Several sites wanted $40 per for shipping & "handling", at that rate I'd do better getting them at the brick and mortar store.

I don't remember, though I expect the S&H was reasonable. It was a used lithograph that was described as "needs a little cleaning". When it arrived there was a dribble of paint on it. That's more than "a little cleaning".

I bought my motorcycle and my pop-up camper from ebay. Both were a good experience. Of course the motorcycle almost killed me, but I don't guess I can blame that on ebay.

(mu-mu-mu-must have cof-cof-coffee! Look out! stagger toward cuppuchinator, make sure it is plugged in, *smack!* whoosh! pour, slap, replace decanter, carefully slurp)

Aaahhhh!

Anyone isolate their online purchases on a separae credit card with a self-imposed credit limit on it? This may be something worth doing- so you ain't waving around the big card numbers online. Just a thought.

Ray, I was concerned when that picture of you went ogrish, or ogreish, or Shrekish, whatever. The picture of the champion grandson really hides your age better, or was that you as a tyke? Will the Mom let you get him a foam viking helmet yet? That's a stupid question (drinking more coffee).

The last firefighting movie I remember seeing was Backdraft. Is anyone going to raid the theater to see this upcoming Fireproof movie? This can still be done for less than $10 a person in town.

I've heard that suggestion about a separate credit card, but that's as far as it's gone...good idea though.

That ogre avatar is the personna that I first picked as soon as we could upload our own avatars.

Yep, that's my grandson...although my baby pictures look very similar.

Speaking of avatars, a few of the people on the forums here are using photos from http://www.yearbookyourself.com/ I thought that I'd upload the ogre avatar and see what I could come up with. Here is the result.

Well, I got a big white screen when trying to run that link, and right clicking the screen said they'd show me more about Adobe Flash Player 9 if I wanted. I've got the Reader 8, but not their player. What I saw was something trying to load, and trying to load, and trying... .

Oh well, maybe I'll just get one of those M&M faces that are so popular these days.

I dunno OneJohn, I use Mozilla browser and see it fine. Try a different setting? I'm no computer genius, I just know how to use them and intimidate the heck out of them if they don't do what I want.

Matter of fact, watched Shrek this evening as nothing else was on. Yeap, reminds me of Ray alright... I could even see him in the horned hat defending the swamp from all the squatters. Then Denny rolled in with that dang yapping mule in the side cart. After that, my wife kicked my chair to wake me up and said it was time to go to bed. Don't guess I'll ever get to see that movie in the same light as before.

Sure, but only after I go out to find some gas to fill up the wife's car. The fuel shortage here has my hours all messed up, going out at 2am to find gas and fill up our cars.

Oh my, you have it worse than we do. So far I've been able to find it around 7 in the mornings.

Yes, we do have it bad. I'm about sick of it, I burn 3 tanks of gas a week in my biz, spend 2 hours in line for gas, and am trying to keep the wife's car full! No excuse, just politics as usual... and all because we have to burn some tree huggin' friendly gas. I'm considering finding an industrial lot somewhere, and looking into what it takes to get a UST tank permit.

I don't know if it's been talked about elsewhere. For all y'all wanting one of those cool little GPS units for the car, I heard another reminder that the best gadget for driving a vehicle is the human brain.

The GPS unit said cross the railroad tracks. The guy listened to the GPS unit. Somehow his car didn't get across the tracks, but he did get out of the car... before the oncoming train took his car away.

Well, he has no gas-hunting problems now, that's for sure. Somehow, though, he allowed technology to replace the thinking slow down! Look left, look right. Be ready to stop if there's an oncoming train. Do not trust your wonderful engine with your life (I wonder how electric ones will do on our bumpy roads, btw).

This almost beats the encounter I had with Mr. Sleepy Logger Trucker on a residential road when he came up behind me, tooted his horn like I was driving 15 mph, then proceeded to pass me as we both drove 35, him in the shared turn lane on my left I had to get in to.

Y'all be careful out there and remember having gas in the tank is only half the challenge.

Has anyone had a locking gas cap stripped off their car and the gas stolen anyway? I'm considering securing that investment in my personal vehicle with some additional deterrent just because, and wondered if like everything else, sometimes a good lock would just make a fine mess.

Cheers!

Actually, the passengers got out of the car. I heard that the driver was still looking at his GPS when the train hit. I'll bet he never does that again!

Ouch!

Well, I 'spose it's time to start looking for a locking gas cap.

Oooor, de-clutter and actually park your truck in the garage. I think we are among the few who actually use our garage as a garage to park.

Wife has her car in half the garage and the pop-up camper is in the other half.

Just pretend (as I don't have to) that you do not have a garage. Can someone that knows what to do just spin this locking cap right off your tank?

Thanks.

The latest thing is that they just poke a hole in the bottom of your gas tank. I wouldn't bother with a lock.

You have to protect your catalytic converters, too. Thieves are ripping them off of cars so they can sell the platinum in them.

Very interesting. I'll have to get a schematic of my car and see where that piece is located. Older vehicles just thrill when you even think of spending any time or money on them... and then they want more of both.

Ice picking holes in my gas tank. I hope they get caught when they are trying to get it into their tank somehow. Hmmm...

Oh, how do you protect a converter, Shawke? Is that where the pit bull comes into play, or do they steal it too and sell it off as thers'n. I know... get the video surveilence system for your car with the motion/distance detection eyeball camera and real-time satellite link to your Blackberry video phone thing.

(where is that disc... aha!... James Bond theme starts playing in the background)

And to think that 30 years ago, people were taking them off and throwing them away.
