Did anyone else retain a lot of fluid after their sections? Seriously my feet and ankles looked like water balloons, and I never had that during pregnancy. Right after coming home I weighed myself and was rather disappointed with how little I lost. But I think I've been peeing out a few pounds since cause my feet look normal and I'm happier with the scale.

I think it's normal after any surgery, especially if they were pumping you full of fluids. I was more swollen after delivering then I was before going in(hard to do, I was quite swollen) because they gave me so many IV fluids.

Yes, for several days.

After the problems with low blood pressure I had they kept me pretty filled up with IV fluids. Even hours after surgery it was still low, so they weren't taking chances.

Well...after I had Hannah (induction) the day after my legs swelled up and I couldn't see my knees anymore. It took over two weeks for the swelling to go completely.

It can also depend on how much you're resting, with your feet/legs elevated above hip level.

Docs did tell me that the best thing for the swelling was to get up and get moving. Actually, they wanted me up and about as soon as possible.

Ruth, cranberry and lemon are excellent ways to flush out extra fluid too.
A squeeze of lemon to each glass of water, or a cranberry water mix ( however you like it)...if you go with cranberry, be sure to get pure cranberry juice, no cocktails, too much added sugar.

Yes of course, that's for your circulation, but also balanced with sufficient proper resting.

(I was up on my feet in my room the evening of my section, and walking around back and forth to the loo, day room etc, from the next day - that's what was expected of us!)

Ours, being an NHS hospital, just had a few armchairs, chairs, tables and payphones. It was where we had breakfast too.

I was up and moving literally less than 12 hours after Hannah was born and it still took me 2 weeks for the swelling to go away.

Yup, me too. And I didn't even sit home, I was out shopping and back to normal activities within 3 days(as soon as I got home from the hospital).

I was pacing the hospital room within a few hours of delivering and my feet still swelled so much that I couldn't wear shoes for 2 weeks after delivering. I wish someone at the hospital would have told me that was normal because I was afraid I was having an allergic reaction to something!

Even though this was my second, I was still making several calls to my OB advice nurse to make sure somethings were ok!

I.am.so.sore. The outside of me is doing better, but I am so sore inside- I do not recommend delivering babies sideways with their hands up by their heads- not.fun. I am just glad that I could feel what was going on or I would probably be in much worse shape as the doctor wanted me to push harder sooner, but my body would not cooperate since it knew something wasn't right... I am hoping that this goes away soon...

How are you feeling today, Jennifer?

How have the recent mommies been doing on weight loss, dare I ask? I was 176lbs at my peak, and so far I've lost 23lbs, but that means I'm only about halfway to where I'd like to be. I think the second half will be much harder then the first.

My mom is the same height as me, 20 years older and she weighs 118lbs!

Same here, except my mom weighs 105 and wears a size 0, despite having given birth to 5 kids

I'm 8 weeks post partum and am about 5 lbs heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight... and about 20 lbs heavier than my ideal weight I'll probably lose some of that when I go back to work just because I'll be a lot more active. The rest will take a little more effort.

Shall I make you feel better sideways?

My peak last time was 285. I am only 15 lb under that, 20+ months later. Didn't lose one single pound after cutting out sugar and meat for a month. Apparently I am the only person in the universe who can eat organic vegetarian and be FAT.

153 would be lovely.

Obviously, my man doesn't much care...but still. I'd love to not wiegh more than him. That's my goal. I don't care how much I weigh, as long as it's less then him. LOL

Definitely, tofu is evil.

Thanks gals. I really wasn't fishing for compliments (Ok, well, I did appreciate them though! ). I always feel bad when ladies are down on themselves because of weight, especially when it's weight that looks downright skinny to me.
