Janine can I ask where you are to put the cream?
If it's not 'on the affected area' make sure its NOT somewhere Jadon or Jason touch. Estrogen can cause some interesting side effects in males. Of any species.

Interesting, Brandy. I'll have to remember that when/if I need to use that after my hysterectomy. Where are you supposed to apply estrogen cream?

To your lower back, stomach, thighs.. anywhere it will have time to absorb and not be rubbed off onto someone else. NOT your wrist or chest - the two places your kids and husband can come into easy contact with, and the two places your Dr or Pharmacist will tell you to apply it.... We had a good discussion about how common prostate problems are now in older men.. whose wives may be using HRT creams on a regular basis. One industry (HRT) may have inadvertently created another (prostate problems) to an extent.

Thanks for the info, Brandy. That makes sense. I'm sure I will need to use it at some point, for dryness issues, according to all I have read.
Um, postpartum...I still have a lot of research to do about HRT and nursing and all of that stuff.

Oh oh I have a PP question!!
When women talk about tears and stuff I hear the term 'skid mark' alot, I take that to mean not a tear but an 'almost' tear? Like the perineum got super stretched and more like a stretch mark erupted, not a tear.
Is that right?

I think so, Brandy. You can also get tiny, tiny tears that are not always worth stitching up.

We've just come back home after a week-long stay in the hospital. Our son had a bacterial infection that needed to be treated intravenously. He was really brave through all the unpleasant things he had to go through -- having the IV inserted (four failed and two successful attempts) and blood tests every day.
We thank God he's much better. He's got oral medicine now and we'll take him for a checkup next week.
Interesting responses to Kim's question about how often nappies (diapers) need to be changed at night. We use cloth nappies as well and change our baby pretty much every time he wakes up to eat. We thought that perhaps that was excessive, but it sounds about right.
How soon can we expect him to have some kind of a routine? And should we wake him up to feed him or just wait until he wakes up on his own?

During the day I'd make sure he eats at least every 3 of 4 hours at the latest - even if that means waking him. But I would not wake him at night to eat (unless medically advised to of course).

Thanks for the response, Tammy. When he had jaundice we were told to wake him up to eat, but I wasn't sure if that was a general principle or only while he needed that.

Okay ladies. I am going to post this in white because it's definitely TMI. Read at your own discretion. :)
That estrogen messed my lower regions up BAD! I had to quit taking it. I am hoping and praying I'm finally healed because that area isn't nearly as sensitive. My appt is on Thursday, but I'm nervous because I don't know how much it's going to cost to see her. She didn't charge me on the last appt and I think she will this time. (Which I totally understand.) I want to see her to ahve a doctor tell me it's really finally healed and to make sure nothing else is going on after what happened after I took that estrogen.
Honestly, I don't think I'll ever want to have sex again and if I do I doubt I'll enjoy it. I am not even remotely comfortable with my body as a whole and after going through labor and having such a hard time with healing... well, sex just sounds scary, ugly, and ugh. That and I never really 'looked' down there before and to be flat honest - it's UGLY. It makes me want to just not share it with anyone, not even my spouse.

How did the estrogen affect you? I was a but concerned as to why she would prescribe that for tears that can heal naturally...that seemed odd to me actually.
I don't think you necessarily need another appt. for her to tell you "It's ok to have/not have sex". If it were *me* and I were feeling 'adventurous' I'd stock up on the KY and go very slowly. It'll probably hurt somewhat...when I had the 2nd degree internal tearing with Hannah it took a good 6 months for things to feel normal again down there during sex. That's not to say we waited that long to resume...just that it took that long before it wasn't super tender. You just have to find ways to enjoy each other that make both of you feel good.

Janine, I don't know how you were damaged but I had a 4th degree tear with #1 and overdid it at first and made myself worse. My healing took a really long time. When it came time to think about intimacy again it was pretty scary. We took it slow, used lots of lube and after a while I realized I wasn't thinking about it anymore and the thought of it was no longer intimidating.

I'm 3 for 3 for wonderful epidural (well...one was a spinal, not an epi) experiences...but I understand why some people are leery.
