Mandy Patakin has left the show, so you're gonna lose Gideon.

I love criminal minds, in fact we set up to dvr it on Wednesday but it didn't for some reason. So I'm going to see if I can catch it on line. Gideon & Hotch are my two favorites. What is it with Mandy Patankin, he left Chicago Hope years ago after just a few seasons. Does he have an aversion to tv shows that go on more than 3 seasons?

My guess -- He had his gun out because it is his service weapon and he is going to mail it in with his badge.

Except that it sounded like he was writing a suicide note. Also, he was saying things like "I knew they would send you to check on me." like he was leaving it all behind.

Criminal Minds is one of my favorite shows! And Yep we are losing Mandy Patankin. Last I read it was due to personal reasons, whatever that means. That letter that Gideon was writing sound very much like a suicide note, but I'm hoping not! I'm hoping he just goes away and the team decides that it is best not to try to hunt him down and they leave him alone! But it doesn't sound good does it. Blessings, Garsy

An earlier thread about this show revealed that Mandy wanted more money, however his "People" said he was leaving due to "Creative Differences". The suicide angle makes sense. If your star wants off, let him go, but make sure he can't come back. They did that with McClaine Stevenson (sp?) on M*A*S*H. I didn't like they way they ended last season, I hate interoffice politics. I'm looking forward to the new season.

I'm going to miss Gideon, I really liked his character, I also really like Mandy Patinkin. I didn't watch last night's episode, it's on my pvr (too many shows to watch on Wednesday nights!!!) but I can't wait to see what happens. I'm really wondering about Hotch.

I like Mandy Patankin, too, and hate to see him leave. I will forever associate him, however, with the Devil from Touched by an Angel. I love Hotch, too...what a cutie. I'm afraid his marriage may be on the rocks, though....

I got the idea last night that when Hotch came home at the end she had left. I didn't like that. I thought I remembered her from the past as being fairly supportive.

Our local news said Gideon (don't know his real name) was being written out of the show permanently. Evidently he didn't show up for their first day of filming and said he wouldn't be back.

I don't like Prentis...haven't liked her from day 1, and I could care less about Hotch's wife. to me, that's just filler because the writers can't stretch the episode for an hour. I'd rather his wife just outright leave him rather than have to deal with more of that "i want you home with me" story line....bleh. I told my husband that if Hotch's wife knew this prior to the marriage, she definitely needs to get over it...if not, then they need to communicate better. But enough already with the threats, etc. If I want that - I'd watch soaps. Prentis is ok - I liked when her mom was part of that one case - definitely showed a different side of her. I disliked the girl she replaced enough to give her a chance so that might be a partial reason, too. Hopefully, the writers will make an effort to do something there.

No way they could have killed Gideon or turned his character into a serial killer. That would have ruined the show. It ended the only way it could have. I'm sad to see him go, but that was the only legitimate way to get his character off the show.

Actually, I associate him with the villian in Elmo in Grouchland. In Princess Bride he's so much younger I didn't make the connection.
